Durability. I've ridden these shoes for almost 5 years now.
Weaknesses:
The sole is horrible!
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:
not applicable, I've used look and shimano pedals with these shoes
Bottom Line:
The sole is a hard piece of plastic. It is slippery as butter. Walking on rocks is easier in a pair of leather soled dress shoes than it is in these shoes. If your foot isn't clipped into the pedal forget it. Your foot will skate off instantly. Basically, except for the fact that these shoes have cleats in the bottoms, they make absolutely no sense as a shoe to be wearing anyplace that you would want to go riding. On the upside I've abused them for almost 5 years now and they won't die so that I can buy a new pair, which is why they get a 3 for value.

This is a pain when you're starting a race or getting back in after a wipeout, with people piling into from behind while you try to find the sweet spot. I've tried cutting a bit of material off the sole to make it easier - guess I'll cut some more. Besides that, great shoes.

The bottom line is these shoes served me well for a year before the sole seperated from the shoe. I wish they had an armored toe box, and they let water in without booties. They are, however, very snug, with no hot spot on the sole, and you can ride far on them. They fit my time cleats very well. All in all, a good 1-year shoe. Considering the fact that I had to return my carnacs after 1 ride, I may just go buy these again.

Judging from my experience and previous reviews the sole will crack, which is disappointing of a shoe in this price range.
Sole becomes very clogged in muddy (UK) conditions.
From painful experience earlier in the year I would not recommend for all day epics where carrying or pushing your bike may be necessary.
If I had submitted this review 4 months ago I would have given them five, but having used them on more demanding rides I can only give them three.

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:
This is a great shoe for the price ($69 for me). So far they are holding up well without any signs of the soles coming apart. Nothing close to the horror stories you hear about where the lugs start coming off on the first ride.
I ride one trail in particular that has steep rocky climbs so these shoes get a real work out on and off the bike. Traction is good and they are more comfortable than I thought a bike shoe would be. They are a big help with climbing.
I took me a couple of rides to break the shoes in. At first my toes went numb after a about 3 miles. I have a wide foot (EE in some shoes) so the wide toe box is nice. The numbness is not even noticable anymore and I am sure pedals with more float in them would help that a lot. Also I adjusted the position of the cleats on the pedal and that seemed to help.
It is hard to get in these shoes. I don't mind that they have velco straps and laces, but the inner tounge is too short. If the inner tounge was longer I could give these a perfect score.
If you are looking for a good all around shoe in the sub $100 dollar range I would check these out.

They are a great shoe but the soles are very cheap. I've went through three pairs my third pair cracked today. Specialized says the reason they keep cracking is because I use ritchey pedals and they put weird pressure in a weak spot on the shoe and that's why they crack. So I switched pedals to Shimano M535's and today on my ride going off a simple very low skilled jump they cracked on the landing. I wouldn't recomend these shoes to anyone because I know they poor durability. But if you find a shoe pedal combo that dosen't crack your shoes the they would be a great shoe. I'll ask for my money back tommorow because I've already paid $30 for all the shipping one new pairs. This will be my fourth pair if they give me warranty.
