Submitted by Jody a Cross Country Rider from Toronto
Date Reviewed: June 18, 2004
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Skiis and Biikes, Mississauga
Strengths:Absolutely no pressure on the private parts, cheap.
Weaknesses:Hurts like hell on the sit bones -- solves one problem but creates another. Bounces annoyingly at high spin rates.
Similar Products Used:Various cheapies that came with bikes (Selle Royal, Vetta), and now a Brooks
Bike Setup:Giant Iguana, used mostly for road now, with Tom Slicks and bar ends to lean forward on
Bottom Line:The bottom line is it hurt my bottom. This squidgy thing was surprisingly uncomfortable on the sit bones when I first sat on it, and it still hurt when I finally decided to turf it two years later. I liked it at first despite the pain in the rear because it was a great relief on the central soft tissues, and I figured my sit bones would eventually get used to it. I rode, I rested, I rode, I rode more, my arse hurt, I was put off cyclng for a while, I rode some more, it hurt, etc. I dreaded rolling over small cracks in the road. Enough. To make things worse, the totally separate butt cheeks bounce annoyingly at high cadence. Maybe the Sport model with the bridge between the two sides wouldn't bounce so much.

Maybe this saddle works for some people, but after this, a straight out of the box Brooks was quite a relief to my sore derriere. If anyone wants to try a BG saddle, mine's available. If you do try this saddle and it hurts right away, don't keep it -- it won't get better.

Date Reviewed: October 2, 2002
Favorite Trail:Umpqua, OR
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $39.00
Purchased At:Bike World
Strengths:Not as wide as the men's version. Lots of padding in the back. Lets me sit back on the seat all I want.
Weaknesses:It's still a wide seat that looks like a women's, which it is. No "S" on the front so dudes can say "Hey, there's no S on the front of his Specialized saddle; are you a girl, man?!"
Similar Products Used:The crummy little seat that originally came with the bike.
Bike Setup:Just a rigid Hardrock.
Bottom Line:I had the opportunity to buy a narrow, leather, men's Specialized Body Geometry seat for only $19.99. But I leave my bike outside when I go to class so leather's not going to last long. This women's seat is a lot better than the guy version, except that all the sub-$100 BG seats look like they're for those fat bottomed girls Queen sang about.

Submitted by Dirt girl a Cross Country Rider from up from Eburg
Date Reviewed: April 9, 2001
Favorite Trail:I'm finding a way to mount my gun to my frame...
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $39.00
Strengths:- FITS. Rode for 20+ miles this weekend off road, worked great.
- Wasn't that expensive. If your seat is what's keeping you from riding, just get one that works.
Weaknesses:- Silly "Graphic specifically designed to coordinate with rest of women's line" is wearing off with minimal use (my bike is ugly and I love it that way, so who cares).
- Material looks like it's going to scuff easily- will probably require a cover by the end of the season. :(
Similar Products Used:Chewed up old gel blob woman's seats- work OK, but definately second best.
Bike Setup:Ancient GT Backwoods w/ 20 tooth small chainring (who needs a chair lift?).
Bottom Line:Specialized says that a woman's butt bones really aren't farther apart than mens. I must be the exception- their higher end (read narrower) saddles would be too narrow for me.

Girlfriend, get the saddle you need- even if it is wider (remember, Richard Simmons and Jenny Craig aren't going to change your bone structure), and just ride hard. If he makes fun of it, he can eat your dust!

4 flamin' cat poos both ways, misses 5 just for flimsy outer material.
