Strengths:had a S-works M2 a few years back and regret the day I sold it for a full-sus. so found a new M4 S-works (2001) frame. Had it built up with my wish list, and... blinding bike! One of the best HT's that I have riden!!
Weaknesses:Not really a weakness, more a personal pref. Thomson seat pin will be changed for the same but lay-back..

Submitted by Brian a from Orlando,Fl
    Date Reviewed: March 26, 2000
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Strengths:Comfortable Ride, fast
Weaknesses:Company customer service sucks....My frame broke into two pieces and they will not warranty or fix it
    Similar Products Used:many
    Bike Setup:marzocchi fork,King headset and hubs,RaceFace cranks and BB,XTR
Bottom Line:Bottom line is I fell in love with this bike and 4 people I know bought the exact same bike as mine after riding mine and going on my recommendation. My frame snapped into two pieces, causing me to take a nasty crash at 24 mph during the last race of the season. I had won everyone up until this time, this was the 8th race I had ridden this bike in. The Specialized rep was a jerk and would not get my bike warrantied, would not even offer a crash replacement that I offered to pay for. Bike is great until it breaks, then company abandons you and won't help. My advice is stay away from this company.....buy a bike from a company that will stand behind their products and offer good customer service

Submitted by George Budd a from Staines
    Date Reviewed: March 23, 2000
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Light, Great tube profiling makes it really stiff
Weaknesses:Some have dodgy paint @ dropout - check before you buy
    Similar Products Used:M2 (x2), M4 (a different coloured one)
Bike Setup:XTR, SID Ti, Ibis Ti stem + bars, Moots Ti post, Avid arch supremes, King Headset + hubs, Maxxis Wormdrives ect etc...
Bottom Line:This is a very lightweight hardtail. You could buy a small one and use it for jumps, or a "proper" sized one and use it for XC (like me). Mine all in weighs 20.2lbs. I am very happy.........

Submitted by amazon a Cross-Country Rider from england
    Date Reviewed: December 28, 1999
    Duration Product Used:
    1 Year
    Strengths:
    Fast (very)
    Light
Great Looking (just like the pros ride)
    Weaknesses:
    none
    Similar Products Used:
Appart from my old hardrock and rockhopper, none.
    Bike Setup:
The frame is now graced with some Mavic Crosslink wheels, XT/XTR
Marzochi Bombers Z3BAM, and some very nice Specialized bits.
Bottom Line:I only started riding three years ago, but have managed to upgrade my old rockhopper fs for this frame. the first time I rode it it felt so light and responsive. The metal matrix feels fast and very responsive to ride, but a tiny bit more forgiving than a regular aluminium frame. it climbs like a demon uphill and its stiffness means that it corners like on rails. i'm very happy!!
