from Tucson,Az USA Date Reviewed: December 5, 1998 | | Bottom Line: | One month of hard usage, I'm an experienced road bicycle rider and off road motorcycle rider, but new to hardcore MTB riding. Some years of easy riding on my old Connondale M400. The FSR first full suspension bike. My downhill and XC skills improved greatly, but uphill difficult. Wide riser bars made me overcontrol greatly.Changed to Girvin straight model but now need taller stem. Upgraded brakes to Avids(great improvement).Rear tire (Spec. Master)seems very slippery in loose and hard rock conditions- Specialized control front tire very good.Biggest problem with the new 9-speed Shimano LX shifters, rear OK,but front derailer gives constant problems.Front gears run a bit eccentric so may be a bad piece, but front action is not good-I would have prefered to stick with 8-speed.Highly recommend the Specialized Body Geometry seat-real comfort. For a cheap bike ($1099.00) this is a nice piece of work | Overall Rating: |
