Date Reviewed: July 31, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Underwater trails | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | I would have to agree with harry on the valve caps they are great.Thats about it. | | Weaknesses: | The seat gave me hemroids.Anyway unlike harry i dont think the brake cables are that good,for instance i was going down a rather steep hill and when i tapped the brake th ecable snapped and hit me in the eye,(it hurt wurse then it lookes).I contacted specialized and they replaced them for free,i was impressed.The grips gave me blisters all about(they were quite eritating). | | Similar Products Used: | Ive never seen a bike like this one before. | | Bike Setup: | It must have been put together over night,like a kid and a school project. | | Bottom Line: | Bikes not worth the money,except for the valve caps.Actually i put it up on ebay and sold for a good price i fell bad for the guy.I have to mention this one incident though just to help changee the minds of those who think im crasy.I happened to be going about id say um 40 down a not so steep clip when i notice that the braking mechonism was failing.I jammed on the brakes like any normal human would,but as i did i found myself face first in a pile of jagged rock.When i awaked i was deformed.i must travel the streets a masked man.I give you the Specialized fsr Extreme | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

My chainstay practically snaped after a 5'cliff(that is what the bikes made for right?) | | Similar Products Used: | ?????????? | | Bike Setup: | can be much better i dont know what specialized was thinking to put it in one sentence. | | Bottom Line: | Its a good bike other than the weaknesses i mentioned.If i were you though i would go definitly go with the new 2000 specialized fsr elite(i have the elite much better, i use my 98 fsr for spair parts that is if there are any in working condition.)the elite a good improvement compaired to the '98 fsr. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

Stock bike. | | Bottom Line: | Took two links out of the chain,tightened the BB, put new grips on and cutoff some seat post. The shocks still work fine and no creaks from the pivot points. Still have to chop off some of the bar. | Overall Rating: |
