I can bomb down stuff I could never ride on my old non-suspened MTB. Even better, I can climb manky rock strewn trails which would have driven me crazy before. Being able to lock both the fork and rear shocks is great when riding roads. | | Weaknesses: | Nasty body geometry saddle o' pain (will replace with Selle Italia Transam eventually), stock tires are only good on hardpack (replaced with some old more agressive tires I had laying around), like everybody says the bottom bracket is a bit low. You have to be careful in rock gardens. | | Similar Products Used: | I test rode cross country full suspension bikes from Canondale, Santa Cruz, Titus, and others. The FSRxc Pro was the best bike I could find for the money, though I liked the unobtanium Titus Racer-X better it was $1500 more. | | Bike Setup: | stock except for more agressive tires | | Bottom Line: | Normally I ride my Ibis Hakkalugi cyclocross bike, but when I moved to Flagstaff and saw the trails, I knew I need a new MTB. I bought my bike on close-out at Absolute Bikes here in Flagstaff and got a great deal (&1600 + tax). The Stumpjumper FSTxc Pro is a great bike for the money with plenty of nice parts, probably one of the best deals out there. It's light, fast and handles well. Except of a leaky Fox rear shock (which was quickly and happily replaced by the guys at Absolute Bikes and Fox) it's worked perfectly for the two months I've had it. | | Bottom Line: | Love the bike although it's my first full suspension. Tried a Fisher Sugar 3+, but liked the set up of the suspension on the specialized. Plus couldn't pass up the deal. Been to big bear with it and it did great! Climbs great and handles technical downhill very well. Replaced after 2 rides. I also didn't care for the bars but a set of low risers made unbelievable difference. The bike is very plush and corners exceptionally well. I love the lightweight. It does tend to get chainsuck quite often no matter what type of lube I use. I also had to have the lockout fixed on the rear shock already but that is a minor issue. Fox took care of it at no charge and actually replaced the bushings and the seals at the same time. All in all I think this is the best full suspension bike for the money. Rear suspension works great and now most of hard rocky slopes are passed; I had rear rim damaged 'cause it's difficult to realize rear flats.

Got the frame as a upgrade replacement because some stupid LBS mechanic dimwittedly wrecked my other Stumpy. Actually, this was a blessing in disguise because I wouldn't have ended up with an awesome frame like this one. The Float RC rear shock with the lockout is the best out there; nothing compares.
