Avid brake levers. | | Bottom Line: | Ok first off amazing entry-level XC bike but it has an awesome frame that can basically be upgraded to an ultimate dream bike.
I use to do some heavy mountian biking when I was in my early teans. But I got a car and friends moved away and what not so I haven't really done any serious riding for about 10 years. Well I turned 30 met a group of XC enthusiasts and starting biking again. I rode all last year on my now 10 year old Kona lavadome with no suspension. This year though I decided to make the switch to full suspension. I tried out most of the bikes in the group and was flip flopping between the Fuel 90 and the NRS2 as I found the jeckyll didn't peddal as nice. I was figuring on spending around 1400 on a bike and I saw this one on ebay for 800. So I went to the local store tested out the same model and it was sweet. I found it to be more comfortable then the Trek or the Giant and at a fraction of the cost I was sold.
If you can pick them up still used or as last year models the price really can't be beat for the quality and comfort of this bike.
I'm 5'10 and weigh about 185lbs. It's a large frame and fits perfectly. The stock suspension is a little soft so I'm going to upgrade it. Next year I'll probably also upgrade to XT comps as well.
For my personal fun factor I'd give this bike a 6 as it's totally given me new energy in the sprot. But since I don't have a ton of experience on full squish bikes I've got to down grade the overall ratings slightly. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |
