Date Reviewed: October 11, 2007
Favorite Trail:Highland Mountain Bike Park
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $89.00
Purchased At:sixsixone.com
Strengths:Understated style, plush and comfy, super-grippy sole, neoprene debris guard works well at keeping dirt/gravel/etc out of shoe, pocket integrated in tounge for keeping laces out of harms way. Vegetarian/Vegan friendly :)
Weaknesses:None so far
Similar Products Used:Vans Rowley, FiveTen
Bike Setup:2006 Ironhorse Sunday World Cup
Bottom Line:I like the fact that they retain a skate-shoe feel but add some excellent bike specific features - i.e. slightly higher ankle, extra padding, debris guard and the lace-keeper pocket on the tounge. The "Taki" sole provides excellent grip but is still flexible enough for me to feel the pedals through (I found FiveTens to feel too stiff). Synthetic uppers breath well and look like they'll have no problems holding up to a season of racing.

Overall, very impressed.

Favorite Trail:sunrise
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Price Paid: $90.00
Strengths:soft sole
Weaknesses:cheap material,, basic design, pretty much a skate shoes with a softer sole. the pattern on the sole doesn't grab set screw style pedal at all. the screws just slide between the knobs. the material is soft that the screws acutally ripped some of the knobs off during 5 min riding in the parking lot at the bike shop. weak! vans with the diamond pattern sole work way better. also new balance trail running shoes grip pretty good too.
Bike Setup:free ride
Bottom Line:maybe they'd be ok for $40, but $90 is too much for the low quality of these. regular skate shoes work better and are easier to get.

Date Reviewed: July 4, 2007
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:fit, sticky rubber sole, cushioning, low weight
Weaknesses:not the most breathable shoe, price
Similar Products Used:skate shoes (DC,Adio)
Bike Setup:07 Specialized SX Trail (stock except for grips and pedals)
Bottom Line:I recommend these shoes to any rider with standard width and avg volume feet. Your brannock device size should fit. I'd steer clear if you have wide or high volume feet

The sticky rubber provides excellent traction on the pedals- noticeably so over skate shoes. The descend is amazingly lightweight but supportive enough under the ball of the foot and around the ankles. The 3/4 top design provides good protection and helps keep the debris out of the shoe without discomfort from pedaling. The pair I bought are well made from 100% burly synthetic leather. I ride the mountain bike park 5 days a week and I think these are going to easily last the entire season.
