Just today in July 2006, I had a look for it cos a mate noticed I didn't have a computer and I found it again. Cleaned the contacts, put new batteries in it. the wires looked really dodgy on the bike but the bloody thing worked first time. brilliant. I'll be using it in a race tomorrow. A bike comp as reliable as a 1960's washing machine!
I even set the 24 hour clock.

These reviews seem to reflect that. I've had this computer for over 3 years now (it's actually a BC800 but the way Sigma changed the product line around mine is now equal to the BC1100 that my friend has) and I've never had a problem. I've ridden through downpours and waterproofing has never been a problem, niether has battery life as the thing is still ticking. Someone on here said there is no 12 hour clock and they obviously have no idea how to read an instruction manual because there is a regular 12 hour style clock on it. For the money I think this is a great computer and if you get it and are dissapointed then you either don't know how to properly set it up or are used to much more expensive equipment in which case spending 40 or 50 dollars on this won't make you go bankrupt! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I've had this thing on my bikes for 5 years now and it has never failed me. It's done more than 60000 km's in all sorts of weather on the road and never complained. The Sigma just works - and that's it. The rubberband attachment works fine with road bikes, the sensor never came off and I've never snapped a rubber band. You get plenty of functions at a very low price and this model (which has been replaced by newer versions) is highly recommendable. Weak Magnet | | Similar Products Used: | Cateye, Specialized. | | Bike Setup: | GT I-Drive, Full XTR, Z-2 X-Fly Fork | | Bottom Line: | I gave this computer a chance and it just keeps getting worse. I bought the computer and a wireless mount. I put the regular mount on my road bike and the wireless on my MT bike. I bought it because I could use it on two bikes relatively easily and it had a wireless option. On the first MTB ride (happened to be a race) I crashed hard. 15 minuted later I looked down and the computer was gone. Luckily, I found it on the next lap. The two tabs that hold the computer to the mount broke off so the computer just slid out of the mount. I realize that my crash caused this but it was the first time I went down the first time I had it on the bike. It's gotta be able to put up with SOME abuse. Since the tabs on the wireless mount broke I only use it on my Road bike now. A few weeks ago it just stopped getting a reading from the magnet. After screwing with it for an hour it started working again. Still don't know what was wrong. But noe it gives weard top speed numbers. After every ride I always get some rediculous max speed like 63 MPH. I'm not fast. This screws up the avg. speed so I can't trust anything it tells me. All it is good for now is the speedo and stopwatch.
It will be replaced soon. If I can find an address, I'm gonna send it back to Sigma and tell them what I think.
The price is real cheap...but if you're gonna have to buy another in a couple months what are you saving. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Surprise, it started working!. After testing the BC 1100 magnet on a piece of steel, it was apparent that the magnet was bad. Given that several others have recently reported here that they got no response from the unit while earlier reviewers did, it's likely that a whole shipment of these things had bad magnets. My guess is that the magnets were overheated during shipment, which tends to weaken permanent magnets.Shame on Sigma Sport for not picking this up and issuing a recall!! | Overall Rating: |

Overall, this is an extremely handy computer. I bought the BC900 (which is identical to the BC1100 apart from losing two of the functions). It only cost 10 UK£ (about 15 US$) - which was very cheap. I didn't bother with the wireless version, which is uneccessary unless you have suspension - it's never caused me any problems. It has heaps of features, but a few niggly problems. The first is that it is uneccessarily complicated. There are three buttons, and two of them do essentially the same thing. When setting it up, the instructions are not very good, and it is quite difficult to make it work in mph rather than kph. The batteries don't last very long (4 months). It slips around in its bracket a bit when on the move, and the time between readings is annoyingly slow - the speed only changes once every three seconds or so, so it can show 25mph after you've stopped. The unit itself is very big - much more so than other ones on the market, but this allows a big, easy to read screen. Overall, I would happily buy it again, but then again, there's only so much ingenuity you can apply to cycle computer design - most cycle computers are, after all, basically very similar. | Overall Rating: |

I have been using a Sigma BC800 for about 4 months with no trouble, until it rained while I was out last weekend. Within 10 kilometres, the unit expired. At home I found that it was full of water. Holding the unit upright was like looking into a half full fish pond. I removed the battery, to try to shake out some of the water. With so much water in it you would expect some to come out with a little shaking, but alas, not one drop appeared. Complained to the bike shop where I bought it, and they said the Sigma rep would just laugh if they tried to have the computer replaced. A completely useless computer if it rains while you are out. No stars for reliability for something claimed to be water resistant. Something about it being water resistant but not waterproof. It seems to me that with a fish pond inside the computer, it wasn't even water resistant. | Overall Rating: |

Crap. My test of most things is whether they work as expected. I bought a couple of the Sigma 1200 with 4 wireless units. The specs and price were fine (and by the way the service from Mud Sweat and Gears well above average). Mounted one of them yesterday. Should have realized I'd have problems when I had to glue the magnet to the spoke. The wireless receiver rattles like a babies toy. Thought that it was only one of the units. Nope all four, full bore rattle. Two things -- the first I won't ride with that sound. I wouldn't tolerate it on any other part on any of my bikes, why on this. Second, anything that rattles like that indicates a total lack of quality control (something isn't mounted internally). In any event, the product doesn't work for my purposes. (It works OK on the wired version). Even my local bike shop has given up. So, Sigma Sport what's the story? Can you help? Can anyone help?Another problem has been battery consumption. I agree with the comments I have read here--especially would like a feature, (I had on older cyclometers) which allowed me to control the ride time separate from the rolling of the wheel. It has been pretty reliable and my only problem once was during battery change on the wireless unit the plastic broke which required getting a replacement from the company (at no charge). The instructions could be a bit more complete but are only needed rarely when set-up or battery changes are done. I miss the cadence, due to the wireless choice, but I like the wireless more overall. I used my road bike daily for commuting and on weekends for local rides and on vacations for bike tours. The cost for the entire set was about $70 US (BC1100 and wireless kit). I am aware of 4 batteries (included). Two are within the cyclometer display, 2 are on the wireless fork mount. | Overall Rating: |
