Duration Product Used:
6 months
Price Paid:
$156.00
Purchased At:
Van Eyck
Strengths:
cheap, bladed spokes, black, for V-brakes and centerlock disc-brakes, easy to service, look nice (without or with the stickers)
Weaknesses:
a bit heavy, need (yet another) special wrench to true the wheel
Similar Products Used:
Mavic rims-DT spokes-shimano hubs
Bike Setup:
2002 Specialized Stumpjumper, v-brakes, 8-speed, Marzo fork
Bottom Line:
After 8 months the wheels are still ok. The rear wheel might need to be trued a little, but I need to buy the specific tool (Park SW-14). The rear axle cones also needed to be tightened, but that was easy to do + I regreased it. The front axle was ok. So not a bad wheelset after all, just keep an eye on the cones or tighten them when you buy these wheels. I was pleased with the fact that they are low-maintenance, hold my weight without breaking spokes or truing all the time. Considering the price I give them anoter 5 peppers :-)

Less than 1 month
Price Paid:

Purchased At:

Strengths:
bladed spokes, V-brake and centerlock compatible, black, removable stickers, not expensive
Weaknesses:
none so far, you usually get what you pay for
Similar Products Used:
mavic rims (117, 217, 517, 717) laced with DT spokes to Shimano hubs (XT, LX, Deore)
Needed a front wheel urgently because rim is about to snap after almost 5 years (Mavic X221). Didn't want to spend lots of $$$ so bought this set instead of buying rim/spokes/hub seperately. Weight: front+skewer=1040g and rear+skewer=1225g, total of 2265g. Looks heavy but if they feel good and hold my weight (90kg) then I'm happy. Noticed a tiny hole on each side of the rims (front and rear). Don't really know what it's for. I put some Velox rim-tape on the wheels and will test them as of next weekend. The stickers will be removed soon (don't like too many stickers). Stay tuned...
