Date Reviewed: May 4, 2009
Favorite Trail:censored by the NCC
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:Chain Reaction Cycle
Strengths:It's strength? It's strength.
Weaknesses:Not the crispest shifter, but keep your cables cleaned and lubed and you should be good.
Similar Products Used:XTR, XT, LX. Haven't used SRAM over the years for some reason.
Bike Setup:see previous post - not much has changed (maybe Stans Flow rims - another great durable product)
Bottom Line:This is an update of my previous review. I can't believe I've had this derailleur for two seasons, and it's taking on its third. The system works, its too bad they've discontinued it. I used to go through 2-3 derailleur hangers a year, and at least a derailleur a year. I bike in East Coast mud, rocks and roots at least 3 times a week.

I might just have to get an extra rear derailleur that will last me another 3 years when this one finally gives up the ghost.

Its a real shame Shimano isn't carrying over this product. A real shame.

Date Reviewed: July 24, 2007
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $60.00
Purchased At:Chain Reaction Cycles
Strengths:Strong: goodbye derailleur hangers!
Weaknesses:Integrated system: have to buy the hub (& possibly rotors too). Not a crisp as XTR or even XT. It's a hassle if you have to take the wheel off for whatever reason...
Similar Products Used:XTR, XT, LX, X9
Bike Setup:05 Enduro, stock except for the Hone cranks, rear hub and derailleur.
Bottom Line:As someone who seems to always bend derailleur hangers, I'm quite happy with this product. It definitely does not shift as crisply as the XTR that it replaced, but I don't care, caus' I can adjust it properly so the alignment is always perfect. This also makes up for the hassle of the derailleur and chain being loose when removing the rear wheel.
