The Shimano Saint M815-2 Crankset is designed for two chainrings and a bashguard. The plated aluminum rings are 36/22. The rings are pinned, ramped, and profiled for better shifting. The bashguard is made from resin. The bolt circle diameter is 104/64mm. The chainline is 57.5mm. Shimano recommends their Super Narrow HG 9-speed chain with the chain rings. The crankarms utilize Hollowtech II technology. The right arm is permanently affixed to a hollow bottom bracket spindle. The bottom bracket, which is included, is the SM-BB80, and is designed to work with 83mm bottom bracket shells.

Strengths:
easy to install, great looking
Weaknesses:
the rings suck and are going after 6 months (yes i know how to clean my chain and bike...my blackspire rings on my trail bike are like new). from what i've read, interchangeability with off the shelf parts is tough (bashguard, and chainrings). this is a big miss imo because i don't want to use shimano rings.

Bottom Line:
great cranks, great price and easy to install (compared to the race face). i'm 150lbs so i never have issues with stiffness.
the only gripe i have is that the chainrings are already shark finned after 6 months! totally ridiculous to be going bad that quick considering the bike is used for freeride, minimal climbing, and in dry CA weather. oh well. i heard replacement rings may be an issue due to the cut/clearance of the new bashguard so i guess i'll find out if there are any issues when i get new rings. bashguard replacement may be an issue too due to this one being thicker.
