$13.00 | | Purchased At: | cambria | | Strengths: | it actually pulls cable. | | Weaknesses: | VERY flexy. made of plastic | | Similar Products Used: | alivio, stx-rc, sd 7. | | Bottom Line: | stx-rc levers are definitely better than lx--because the levers are made of machined alu! lx is lighter because it's made of plastic. as a result it flexes a lot (though not in the direction of cable pull). it's annoying, and makes me feel unsecure when going downhill, feathering and ready to hit brakes hard at the bottom turn. stx-rc, though a step down, is a solid performer, the trade-off is a bit of extra grams that i don't give a sh!t. also the total alu look of the stx-rc fits my taste. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$60.00 | | Purchased At: | Kam leun Bike Store | | Strengths: | Good control, solid performance & good looking | | Weaknesses: | Too expensive | | Similar Products Used: | Tekro quaze series, Avid sd 1.9 & other no name products | | Bike Setup: | Trek 8000 | | Bottom Line: | This brake lever is a lot better than the Avid SD 1.9. It provide a better feel when braking and will not dead lock the wheel so easily. It is more confidence to turn a sharp corner with speed. If press hard, the bike can stop at a very short distance. However, the price is a little bit too high! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Wheelies Direct | | Strengths: | Cheapish Effective enough Modulation settings v.good | | Weaknesses: | Cable holders (black cap things) very weak Look strange | | Similar Products Used: | Diacompe M2, Altus, Alivio, HS-11, DX | | Bike Setup: | Kona Scab | | Bottom Line: | Very good as far as they go as an average lever, but for an LX product I would expect more Go for an Avid or some XT's, or even DX's if you can find them, but power only comes at a price! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Quebec Date Reviewed: March 13, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Light, cool design, very performant, solid, good adjustment | | Weaknesses: | The small black caps who hide the cable... A big cable has difficulty to move and make small noises | | Bike Setup: | TREK 6500 orange | | Bottom Line: | I think it's prferable to adjust the 3 position srew at middle for most riding. For powerful stops, change to hard position and check your brakes !!!! Good design and easy to use. Not expensive | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Malaysia Date Reviewed: January 7, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Looks real great. | | Weaknesses: | Doesn't feel good when pressed. Cables are visible. | | Similar Products Used: | Avid 2.0 | | Bike Setup: | Joshua F4, Judy C. | | Bottom Line: | I was deciding which levers to get after my avid levers bent during a crash. It was either the LX or the Real. I was upset after knowing that this levers doesn't really perform that well. But, it's LX and it's definately better than the older LX and has a really great look! | Overall Rating: |

from Huntsville, Ontario, Canada Date Reviewed: July 7, 1999 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Levers are light About $100 cheaper than XT | | Weaknesses: | The plastic cable covers look real stupid and don't fit properly, and the friggen colours | | Similar Products Used: | Avid 1.9 SD | | Bike Setup: | 97 Schwinn Moab 3 stock, except for XT brakes and LX levers | | Bottom Line: | These levers are perfect for what i use them for. They didnt cost that much, and havn't broken or screwed up. When they are tightend properly, they allow just enough play with the brakes. I would give these levers more then 5 flaming chilis if there were better colours then the blue/silver combo.Good Levers, Good Price, Good Preformance | Overall Rating: |
