Strengths:
Very light, coners like on rails and is very, very fast. The frame is 'Viagra' rigid and looks sexy as all-get-out! Climbs hills like no other bike I've ridden.
Weaknesses:
This was one expensive bike. You better have great control in fast corners or this bike will put you on your hind-end in the blink of eye (I have a beauty of a scar on my left thigh to prove it!)

Bottom Line:
This is one fantastic ride! It is very fast and can handle anything you can throw at it. It makes hard climbs almost 'fun'. Be careful not to overestimate your skills or it will put you in your place! (Beefier tires help with the rear-end sketchiness in turns). This is a great race bike and excellent overall XC bike, if you can survive the price. My goal is to one day be good enough to really challenge this bike!

Strengths:
incredibly comfortable for such a racey machine as well as being as fast and precise as you would expect from the fram spec
Weaknesses:
I may be too in love with this bike to notice any even if there were.....
Bottom Line:
Had the bike built up from the (970g) frame with lowest possible weight without going too far into the law of diminishing returns by getting top spec stuff just to save a few grams e.g. SRAM X7 rear mech is only 60grams heavier than X0 yet a quarter of the price, XT rather than XTR at the front is only a couple of grams heavier and less than half the price. I don't believe the cheaper option sacrificies much,if anything, in shifting performance. Conti Supersonics on Mavic 717s with DT Revolution spokes (a third the price of Aerolites with only a 10gram weight penalty) make for a light yet strong wheelset. The result? An all-up weight of exactly 20 pounds and a bike that flies like a bird. Joy, oh joy.

Strengths:
Incredibly light, attention to detail is amazing. Climbs are a breeze, but not too rough on the downhills. Overall ride is supple for a hardtail. Exclusivity in these parts.
Weaknesses:
Rerouted cables from factory to make more aesthetically pleasing, loud braking from break in of ceramic rims.

The latest in a long line of light racing hardtails I've owned, most recently a scandium Salsa Bandito.
Bike Setup:
Stock setup with FSA/XTR drivetrain, etc. Added DT tubeless kits to their rims.
Bottom Line:
I have always loved carbon bikes, my previous favorite was a 2001 vintage Bianchi Tycoon that unfortunately snapped like a twig. The Scott is to me the pinnacle of racing hardtails,not just the lightest, but the best of everything. Pricy, but worth it. One of my junior teammates pronounced it "the best looking mountainbike I've ever seen." And how could I pass up a bike with my name on the top tube?

Strengths:
Speed and Weight. Stiffness is incredible. Acelerates like nobody's business. Coming out of a hill it just wants to go. Going fast downhill it hugs the bends, the stiffness helps to take you exactly where you want to go, it almost points you in the right direction, like a bullet just whips in the direction you point it. Never ridden a bike like it.
Weaknesses:
None so far. Being very picky, the rear end being so light, at speed has the tendency to jump from under you, but that isn't the bike but my lack of control.
Similar Products Used:
None similar. My other bike is a Cannondale Jeckyll 800 re-built with higher spec set up.
Bike Setup:
As standard except changed Wheels to Disc versions. Can't really improve on the 'as it comes' spec
Bottom Line:
This is a bloody expensive bike but well worth it. Unless you know what you are looking at it doesn't look overly expensive, looks like a normal mountain bike to the average Joe Blogg. The detail everywhere is wonderful.
If you like to go fast, use roads a fair bit, do a bit (or a lot) of xc racing then this is the best bike I think you can buy. However have got little to compare it to. Just very happy with what I have got.
