Light, quick, stiff, strong, powerful stopping power and definitely looks great.
Weaknesses:
just a little bit sketchy about carbon fiber. Could use an adjustable front fork. brakes will squeak at certain times
Similar Products Used:

Bottom Line:
i was about to buy the scale 50 or 40 (aluminum) but i got an even better deal on the 30 (carbon). this bike is amazing. I used to have a cheap full suspension and going from that to the scale, it felt like i dropped 100 lbs. The scale 30 will encourage you to climb and keep climbing. hell, it will just encourage you to keep riding everywhere. I used to be in the middle of the pack with the heavy full suspension and now i usually lead. The brakes will get squeaky at times but the stopping power never seems to fade. this bikes handling is very aggressive and precise. Steering is quick. from the first moment u ride, u can just tell this is a pure racing thorough bred. World cycles has taken care of me and my bike really well. If you have the extra dough, save up for the scale 20 or even scale 10 for the superb components they come with. if not, just buy the 30 and upgrade parts later on. i'd buy another scale 30 once this one gives up on me. hopefully not soon though. i gave it 4 stars for value simply because the bikes price is not for everyone. i put myself in debt just to own one. but i can honestly say im glad i did

Bottom Line:
THIS IS IT!!!!
I dreamed of a Carbon Hardtail after getting out of XC Expert Racing for 10 years, then talked with an old racing friend and he rode the Scale for everything including mega long XC races and I was sold when I saw this Monster; I just knew! The bikes ability to inspire confidence on climbs is breathtaking as I can typically outclimb most on the highly steep and technical so this is an added joy.
I dig the front fork and the shifting is flawless. Never got a flat all season with the tubeless Hutchinson Python Lights!! The stock saddle is comfortable. NO REGRETS!~!

Really fast and enjoyable to climb on this bike. I am not a great climber but went for the Scale 30 because it had a reputation as a climber. It was right. The fox fork is fantastic and takes in most bumps you go over. The carbon helps to smooth trails out.
Weaknesses:

Bottom Line:
I am a weekend hacker and not particularly fast but love this bike and I would buy another one. It does make climbing enjoyable (relatively) and this bike will accelerate like nothing else. If you get into a rythum down a single trail and "dance" with the bike it feels really smooth. The fox fork is superb. It will glyde over most bumps and will not give you any trouble. Save up for this frame/fork and if you have the coin go for a higher spec'd model.

This bike was 700.00 off when I was looking at buying a new suspension bike(stumpjumper)and I tested it out and it felt light and responsive so I bought it and not the bike I thought I wanted, After the first ride I felt like wow a real xc bike that felt better than any suspesion bike on the planet, The bike wants to go fast on nasty single track, Its so responsive and soft with no chatter you get from other bikes. The shifting was good after I got used to the style, the brakes are good, the forks are great, the wheels are going to be upgraded soon but were ok.Overall I love the carbon look and feel and was happy with the price (closeout)I will take that money and upgrade the wheels and go enter some xc races.

This bike is a super fast super strong racing machine; the carbons shock absorbing technology is really felt when riding over rough terrain. The weight is very good for the price however on my model the wheels need upgrading and many componants could be improved. However, this is a minor issue as the supplied components are reasnable. I've worked out by spending around £3000 you could get this bike down to a "scale" tipping 8.5kg. All together this bike is a hard and out racer and should be used by the like and it will do them nicely. Although if I were to buy another bike at around that price I would save up the extra £400 and by the 1/2kg lighter 20.

Great frame - lightweight and stiff but more forgiving than alloy. Excellent value - same frame as higher-end Scott Scale bikes.
The more I ride it, the more I like it. It's about as stiff laterally as my old Cannondale, but doesn't rattle my teeth out when I hit bumps. At around 10.5kg, it's one of the lightest MTB's I've ever owned. I could get it down to 9.5kg if I want to spend the money on lighter components, but I think I'll lose 1kg off my butt by riding it instead. You could buy this bike for the brilliant frame alone and upgrade the bits as you can afford it or as they wear out or break. I think I'm a carbon convert!

More recently i've ridden XC full suspension racers. I've only had this bike for a week but already i wonder why i ever wasted my time with full suspension bikes. This bike transfers power to the pedals to produce astonishing accelleration, yet the ride is supple enough to handle rough terrain with ease. The back end tracks true without becomming skittish and fox shock eats most cross country terrain. Admitidly real rough terrian can be a little scary but the outstanding handling of this bike allows you to pick your lines precisely. This bike loves technical single track almost as much as it loves climbing. There's alot of room for componentry improvements but buy this bike for the frame. you'd struggle to find a better bike for the money! This ride is outstanding!

Light frame with great lateral stiffness and vertical compliancy. Accurate, quick steering. Excellent fork, brakes, tires.
Weaknesses:
While the brakes are strong, there is no way to adjust reach and feel apart from bleeding and re-setting. STI levers are not clearly superior to RapidFire and have some drawbacks. Price is high. Saddle is a little hard.
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:
A hair under 24 pounds (medium frame) with disk brakes is pretty darned impressive. And it's the best hardtail frame, at elast for XC, that I've ever ridden. Likes to be finessed rather than pushed around: a nimble, quick, carving kind of bike. Amazing, wonderful fork. Brakes feel nice but on a bike so XC race-oriented I'd have spec'd V-brakes instead of disks, as they do on the top Scale LTD model. The Scott Manx tires were a pleasant surprise, hooking up well on anything short of sandy hardpack, and nothing hooks up there. It's a little expensive relative to other LX-equipped hardtails but this frame is magnificent, and is completely worthy of XTR gear, which cannot be said of most frames. If you have the money and want light weight and precision handling with a surprisingly non-chattery ride, this bike is fantastic, and a better value than the higher-end Scale carbon bikes.

I just wanted to correct my previous review, somehow only 4 chilis where given for overall reting, this was of course ment to be 5 chilis. Placing Reba SL 85-115mm travel fork with lock out on the front end gives this bike more opportunities to shine, going downhill with 115mm or racing with 85mm + lock out is just great. I am not 100% satisfied with the LX disc brakes because of the irritating rubbing one in a while, it comes and goes, but the performance is super. I am used to rided with Magura HS33 and they are very good. But as I mentioned this review is just to give the bike the 5 chilis.....hope it works now.

The carbon frame of course! It is light, stiff, yet very comfortable. I really like the frame geometry, it is easy to get a very efficient racing position. The Fox F80 RL fork is perfect for XC racing. The new LX group set is working perfectly well. Especially the disc brakes are good.
Weaknesses:
The only minor complaint is the lock-out lever, which could have been a little bit bigger. It is easy to slip in wet conditions. By comparison to other productm the price is a little bit to high when considering the components. For this price once shouls expect a mix of XT/XTR.

When I decided to get a new bike, the top priority was a very good frame together with a good fork. That I have with the Scale 30, and more. The difference is enormous! I tend to ride much faster now with this responsive frame, and now I have gotten used to the high quality fork, it also invites to higher speed. The CR1 technology is where the heart of the bike lies. Unexpectedly the carbon frame actually seems to smoove out the trail for you and gives a cushy yet repsonsive feeling on the rear end. This bike makes you want to ride faster and gives you the confidence for speedy singletrack and allows you to pull away from the pack. XC bikes do not get any better than this.
Weaknesses:
I cant help but feel the Fox F80 RL fork should actually be a F100 RL. Maybe this is because I am used to a 100mm fork, however, hawling down trails can be a bit tricky at times, where the extra 20mm could make a difference.
