Amaing machine. Looking to upgrade but not sure what to consider as I am so pleased. May just move it on and buy another one. We have some very strong down hill single track rides on the mountains. Dunno what to do.

Strengths:
Equalizer rear suspension system - Versatility (uphill and downhill capable)
Weaknesses:
Original setup with the Juicy 5 brakes (performance and creaking issues if not properly set up). To a lesser degree the looks of the Marzocchi AM2 which is a tad bit thin for the rather bold frame.

Bike Setup:
Upgraded to Fox Talas 36R, Formula ORO K24 (200/180mm), XT Crankset. Further mods are planed: switching to Gripshift (in my opinion the ORO do not well interface to the rapidfire shifters). Better fork, maybe a VAN R or a Marzocchi 66 with Eta ...
Bottom Line:
It's a reallife freeride dreambike - The Talas F36R I added is not the worst fork on the planet, but it just can't compare to the rear end. 165mm of finest(nearly DH class)travel. With a flick of your finger you can choose from a proper XC/uphill setup (about 4" travel) and even a full lock-out. With a push on the rebound button on the damper you can ad something called Power Stabilizer which reduces bob with just marginal impact on suspension suppleness. Then, there is the weight of a mere 14kg (31 lbs)... for a weekend warrior (with real warrior ambitions) it's worth a try. And most likely, if you try it, you will buy it! I gave 5 chillies for value, even though the (list) price tag is a tad bit high. But you just will not get the same features anywhere else ... If you want to ride uphill and go fast on the downhill, this bike is most likely for you!

I can ride again. I might be slow, but I can do jumps now. Sometimes I get scared. I probably should have gotten the girls version. Still it feels dreamy. I named it Donkey Lee.

Strengths:
Great looking bike, lots to tweak at if that's your thing. Surprisingly bombproof, its survived regular winter riding despite all the hard to reach pivots. Great lock out facilities often ride with just the 4" travel for xc. It climbs very well and you can lock it out and stand-up something unheard of on other full sus bikes! Descends like a demon (with its new stubby stem. I am thoroughly impressed, I was trying to avoid buying from the big companies because I wanted something a bit rarer, but having demo'd this I fell in love and have to say I still am...
Weaknesses:
The biggie is the carbon unfortunately. Please beware if you are running a shimano mech (stock on 06 model) that the standard cable routing will rub a deep groove in the drive side seatstay. This has been a major concern and Scott are in the process of sending me a new rear end under warranty (so 5* customer back up... though I haven't recieved it yet, it's been 4 weeks!). Standard stem is too long, BB too low in 6" setting

standard apart from specialized low pro mag pedals (flats naturally), maxxis tyres (the stocks are crap), maverick speedball post, mavic rims (destroyed old ones, freak mechanical where the mech snapped off and went into the wheel only harm was to my pocket and it wasn't the bikes fault! And a 50mm Easton stem to keep things freeride
Bottom Line:
There may be faster bikes downhill, there may be better climbers and some may fly cross-country, but who goes biking with three bikes all at once, this does the lot. Ignore some paranoid journos who don't understand Carbon technology Scott have been doing it for years and they know what they're talking about, I'm no hucker but I've sent off 6 footers before without a second thought - this bike rides and feels rock solid.
