Strengths:

Strengths:
Frame handling, good overall package.
Weaknesses:
Judy TT's did not perform to the frames standard. Cheap Scott seatpost failed to hold level position and as a result, the saddle got killed too.
Bike Setup:
Standard spec, but have changed to XT crankset and Fox Talas forks.
Bottom Line:
Great package let down by the Judy TT's. RaceFace cranks not a good match to the frame (chain suck resulted in chain jam between frame and crank) hence changed to XT. Forks and these problems sadly loose chilli's on a good bike.

I love the frame. Comfortable, but still rather aggressive oriented. Nice to look as well. The components are not the best ones but still of good value. The great weakness of the bike is the fork, which is really a shame for this kind of bike (which seems nevertheless to be often the case on Scott's racing bikes). I am on my way to upgrade for a new fork.
I would recommend this bike (or new versions) for non-racer but still aggressive xc users. For the price, I guess you can find better components (Fork!), but I bought this 2002 model in spring 2003 with a good price. I didn't have any problem with this bike since I bought it. "Only" 4 chilis because of the Fork.

Strengths:
This bike has really neutral steering when fitted with a riser bar. Dead nice ride quality of turns,lets you feel pretty in control and fun.
Weaknesses:
poor fork but not the worst. It is adequate. people tend to get carried away with technology and for the money its ok.

Easton EA50 bars, Lizard Skins.
Bottom Line:
Great bike, a thing of beauty, light and nimble but strong. I changed to some wider riser bars because I found it abit skitterish in the rough with the flat bars, though I do tend to use it like a trail bike not a XC bike. Disc brakes are confidence boosters, get them wet and still stop on a dime, saved my arse a couple of times now. One thing with cable brakes need to keep them clean and lubed regularly. Front fork not up to the rest of the bike though, flexy and only preload adjustable. The Elite would suit those more trail hardened riders and those upgrading to there next bike.

Strengths:
-Great frame, good handling on narrow twisting singletracks. -Disk-brakes are great after brake-in period.I could make a controlled stop on a wild down-hill track (no slippin' wheels). -Shimano XT dir. -Great looks.

-Hard to resist ;-) -Standard fork, wich is not ajustable.

Bottom Line:
Great, goodlookin' machine. Probably less suitable for a novice because of very direct steering. You want to change the RS Judy TT for something more suitable( I considered the SID (blue) but went for the cheaper and durable Judy SL) 100 mm's of travel are great on this bike ! Tyres are fine for muddy/rocky conditions. Disk-brakes perform better every day.
