    Date Reviewed: March 9, 2003
    Favorite Trail:none in particular
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $20.00
    Purchased At:Spoke and Edge
Strengths:Great traction for what I ride, looks tough,
Weaknesses:wears kinda fast... don't ride it on paved roads, and it is a very very heavy tire.
Similar Products Used:Specialized Dirt Control/Master & stock tires.
    Bike Setup:2002 Trek 4300
Bottom Line:I ride these tires mostly in the mountains around my cabin, for dirt paths, and singletracks that can be rocky for 20 feet, go 15 more feet and be mud, they work out pretty well. I would not reccomend them to anyone looking for a light weight setup, nor to anyone paying full price for the... if still available. I bought them from a local store for $20 as a pair. They were on a former bike, but taken off when I sold it.

    Date Reviewed: January 1, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:Came with bike
    Strengths:Say "Moab" on the sidewall
    Weaknesses:Chunks come off with ease
    Similar Products Used:Michelin, IRC
    Bike Setup:Univega RS900
Bottom Line:These tires came with a bike I rented for a week in South West Florida. The bike had never been ridden. The bike was offered at a local bike store as a "pro mountainbike". The bike was crap, and the tires were worse. After only 5 days of moderate trail riding, mostly rooted single track, there are several, one inch chunks missing from the rear tire. Inflated properly and not abused. Either a manufacturing defect or they just plain suck.

Submitted by Leann a Cross Country Rider from Des Moines, IA
    Date Reviewed: August 25, 2001
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Decent overall performance-good response in wet conditions.
Weaknesses:A bit heavy and do not handle well on loose serface-especially the front-tends to slide out. (Maybe because I am a lighter rider-I dunno)....As for the statement made in an earlier review about the buzzing on the road---they aren't road tires-enuf said.
    Bike Setup:Schwinn S-30
Bottom Line:Don't think I'd buy these again. Overall performance is okay-but not great. If they come on your bike-use em til they wear then try a different model.

    Date Reviewed: June 1, 2001
    Favorite Trail:Mule Shoe Bend
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:came with bike
Strengths:This tire looks great, and hooks up well in the grass.
Weaknesses:This tire will NOT hook up in sandy rocky terrain.
The tire is too heavy, and feels like the brakes are dragging. I even losened the brakes to be sure they were not making contact on the rim. It was no help.
The tread is overly soft. My rear tire is nearly flat down the center, and has several chunks missing.
Similar Products Used:No other product tried with this set up.
    Bike Setup:99 schwinn moab
Bottom Line:This tire works best in the grass, but how often do you need performance in your yard???

Submitted by Joe a Weekend Warrior from JXN, MS, USA
    Date Reviewed: May 17, 2001
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Good downhill traction, hooks up with gravel
Weaknesses:Heavy, weak knobs, doesn't last, won't connect on uphills, sand; does NOT clean itself
Similar Products Used:Panaracer Smoke, Michelin Hot S, Panaracer Fire XC 2.1
    Bike Setup:Moab I
Bottom Line:From the looks of the tire, I thought it would do great for my riding conditions. I was horribly wrong --> This tire will only work good on downhills with no sand. I have eaten dirt way too many times because of sand and rocks and roots. The tires that come on the MOab should be replaced as soon as you get the bike. Don't even ride these tires. The knobs are dead on mine, and I never put my bike on pavement. On steep uphills, just get off and walk. I don't want to waste my time describing the tire....it sucks really bad and you should throw it out as soon as you can. This tire is just not made for any riding conditiions I've ever experienced. Maybe I should've put it on the street and tried it. I recommend Fire XC and SMOKE

    Date Reviewed: January 2, 2001
Favorite Trail:Los Papalotes, Valle de Bravo
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Strengths:Looks, good cornering
Weaknesses:Wear fast, my rear tyre has five teeth torn apart -all together in the same section (could it be a manufacturing quality problem?), do not perform well in wet surfaces.
    Bike Setup:Schwinn Carbon-S
Bottom Line:For sure I don't think I will buy them again.

    Date Reviewed: September 2, 2000
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:Denny's Cycle and Fitness
Strengths:Looks, good in sand, overall good traction.
    Weaknesses:wear out fast, slow, heavy.
    Similar Products Used:Michelins, Rithchey slicks
    Bike Setup:1999 Schwinn Moab 2
Bottom Line:These tires can handle pretty much any terrain, and especially work well in sand, but I would not buy another pair. They are way too beefy and seem to slow me down. But they do look cool!

    Favorite Trail:Big Rock Trail
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Great traction, even on wet surfaces. Good cornering.
Weaknesses:Will slide out on wet rocks, roots, etc. They wear extremely fast. (ready for new tires after 3 months) Awful on road-loud buzzing.
Similar Products Used:Michelin Wildgripper ATB, Panaracer Fire XC
    Bike Setup:Schwinn Moab 3
Bottom Line:I wouldn't recommend these tires to any serious MTBrs. There are much better tires for the money out there.

    Favorite Trail:camp fortune xc
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Strengths:works well in mud
Weaknesses:front tire slides out and they wear out fast
    Similar Products Used:specialized ground control
    Bike Setup:99 moab II
Bottom Line:they aren't as good as my old specialized but they where better than i expected. The front tire does like to slide out when turning. These things are really good in mud. the rubber is really soft, I've had them for 2 monthes and the back tire is almost gone; time to buy a set of secialized.

    Favorite Trail:Aspen Loop
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Strengths:None
Weaknesses:Soft rubber led to many flats. Not a grat choice for a tire called Moab.
    Similar Products Used:Smoke, Maxxis
    Bike Setup:Schwinn S-Carbon
Bottom Line:It has been almost a year since I had these on my ride and I still have a bad taste in my mouth from them. Probaly the Moab Slickrock I ate after the 3rd flat. Thank heavens for the Smoke and Dart combo.

    Bike Setup:
Mongoose IBOC XT'99 with Marzocchi Bomber Z3 light '99
Bottom Line:It really is a great tire, but very heavy. I use the Panaracer MachSS during summer, and their weight is more than 200grams less, than by the Moabs. (400 grams both of them!!)
