Date Reviewed: August 23, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $550.00
Purchased At:used
Strengths:Light, nimble, quick. Stiff good climbing suspension design. Rocky's 3d is a simple but proven design. A litlle toughter than you might expect.Coil shock aids its durability over air.
Weaknesses:Components are ok, moslty doere stock, but it was an entry level squish xcer at the time. See Rocky Mountain Carve for newest version.
Similar Products Used:Specialized fsr enduro,
Bike Setup:2001 pretty stock deore except for rderailer, xt. maracochi xfly, panaracer and michelen tires. Vanila r coil shock(newer ones have air shocks)
Bottom Line:I bought this bike used, for a trail bike because my other bike weights 52lbs. I know a friend who had one and he beat it pretty hard and he is a big guy(205lbs). Components may be compromised, but i think/hope my frame will hold up as good as his did. You could race it as is, or upgrade some parts for more of a beating. Bottom line is rocky comes from the old shcool were every mountain bike has to tough. British Columbia. An edge or a slayer would be present big brothers of this bike. Value is great, and performance is solid.

Favorite Trail:snakes and ladders
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1200.00
Purchased At:experience cycling
Strengths:great suspension frame. lightweight. fast. good on climbs.
Weaknesses:not strong at all. components suck sh*t. needs more travel
Similar Products Used:fsr xc. gary fisher sugar.
Bike Setup:stock exept for deore rear derailler.
Bottom Line:this bike would,ve been great if i had known that in one year i wouldve been moving to dh. god knows in that period of change things happen. you push your bike to the limits. the problem is with this bike, one can take it past its limits very, very, easily. for xc racing, this bike would've been the best out there. but for freeride, dhing, i might as well ride a 1970's down the hill. 4 flamin chilis for value, (cheap as sh*t), 3 flamin chilis for overall rating.

I've had this frame for 2 years of racing and it hasn't failed me yet, awesome frame, almost no flex side to side, if any in the rear triangle, excellent dual suspension bike for cross country racer... Cheap as $@!# too! Handcrafted, Easton Aluminum tubing...awesome, great, spectacular, super, wow, I love it...i hope thats 50 words...
