| | Bottom Line: | No matter what this bike will perform and stay solid! I am a 230lb rider and I ride it as hard as I can. No problems so far. This frame is so lite, I expected to bust it last year. The 519/XT wheels are incredibly strong and reliant for a higher wieght rider. If you live in Colorado and you want a good wheel built, see the boys over at the Sports Garage in Boulder. a couple things.
1-dont really like the easton stem too much, for the weight of it, and supposed stiffness it is pretty ugly, bulky, and the dampning device has minimal if any effect.
that is the top of the line easton stem...not sure what its called..
2-tires... gotta go, intense should stick to DH tires..bottom line. gonna go with specialized team edition i think,... best weight ratio, awesome cornering on the front wheel, and pretty standard lug design on the rear...
3-shimano 535 pedals... got 747's, will probly switch them over, but to be honest these perform very well, and arent even too bad in the mud... just love my 747's though
4-this bike likes to be climbed while sitting down.. the sloping top tube, and geometry of the front fork angle, as well as the rear tro-angle tend to through you back into sitting posistion even if you try otherwise... really likes to have your weight over the back end... not sure if i like this too much yet, but when you are sitting it does climb like a monkey.
5-XTR shifting is like none other. if you are serious rider, dont fool around with anything less. simply no point.
6-giro saddle still rocks!the fiz-tek model
7-bombers rule the world.
8-one complaint.... about the XTR...not the bike.. casset ratio is not really geared towards racers.. simply not enough high gears to go faster... why the changed to 14-32ish im not sure... is XTR really for a weekend warrior? then why have gear ratio's as such? we need the 11's for some power folks.. shimino look into this!
9-rockey mountain continues to design a cutting edge bike, with the looks, quality and design that has made them famous.. go canada! go RM!!

specialized-stumpjumper | | Bike Setup: | Full XTR, marazhocci z2-fly, mavic 517, 747 pedals, raceface headset, thompson seatpost, easton stem, white brothers riserbar, odi grips, giro-fiztek seat,intense tires | | Bottom Line: | I rode a carbon fibre procaliber for 4 years and loved it to death, it took everything i could throw at it including racing, colorado, and moab with ease, dont let anyone tell you thier not sturdy. This is my first time on aluminum so the verdict isnt out yet, but its still very stiff, just not as responsive off the line or in the corners as the carbon fibre, but on the other hand it absorbs much more of the little shocks that the carbon sent right up my ass. I got this bike full XTR so there's not much to say about the components. The bike looks like a gem, perhaps one of the best looking bikes i've ever seen... the fade from blue to white that involves little maple leafs is the coolest thing ever. The ride was very comfortable and smooth, climbed like a fricken monkey, and seemed to flow down hills at a very fast and controllable pace. Nice to have the marazhocci back i rode Rock Shocks SL for 4 years, and wont go back to RS noodle's again. This fork is plush, plush, plush doesnt pick up the little shocks (but who needs that) and eats up the bigger hits like nobodies business. The giro seat is unbeleivably comfy, it seems after all i may have kids, that is unless my selle italia flite ruined my prostate forever. Dont like the tires to much, not the grip i need in the wetter/mud climate i ride. bike weighs in at probly 22lbs, not much room to drop the weight without sacrificing the bombproofness of this bike! I'll write again later when i have more experience but right now i give this bike 5 flaming cowpaddies for looks/price/and the bombness of it. oh yeah, and in case you didnt read between the lines of my post.... This Is For Mostly Pro Level Racers, Though I Still would Suggest It For Some Begginers.
