Headtube is LONG. I bought an RP23 for my RM6 to help on the climbs, and it did, but it is not the best climbing platform. When the Slayer SXC was introduced, i knew that was the frame for me, but just could not find a frameset for sale. Then along came the deals from backcountryoutlet which I just could not believe. I snatched a M 16.5" and built it up with all the parts I wanted for a dream-build. And so far I am loving everything about it. I would have prefered the lower-key looks of the anodized black SE edition, but the Canuck paint is quite stunning so i am not complaining. I only wish the Fox 36 Talas RC2 would have come in a darker color to match better. I have an Ibis Mojo CF as well which is highly regarded as a great climber, and am shocked that the Slayer SXC climbs just as well IMHO. For some odd reason, I seem to actually climb better on the SXC than the Mojo. It just doesn't make sense especially considering my SXC is at 33.2 lbs with the huge Syncros tires, and it's almost 6 lbs heavier than my Mojo rollong on '08 Schwalbe Racing Ralphs. Go figure! Then when the time comes to bomb back down...wow, I thought i'd lose a bit of plushness from my RM6 but nope...it is just as amazing. I really can't find any real fault with this bike. I wish the frame was closer to 7lbs than 8, but eh in reality i don't really think it is a factor. It pedlas and climbs like a much lighter bike. I'm 100% satisfied with this bike. I think I have found the "one". And gladly, you just don't see RMBs in the Silicon Valley as you do other brands...I like that type of exclusivity. Fantastic bike. | | Bottom Line: | The bottom line is that this thing is sweet. I rode an Intense 6.6 before getting this frame and its so much better for my riding style and size. I’m 6’2” 220lbs and the Slayer loves it when I’m on top of her. I was getting a ton of flex out of my 6.6’s swingarm so I had to try something else. So far this frame seems to have solved all of my problems. It also puts me in a more comfortable riding position. I do get a bit of bob out of the rear but I don’t really notice it unless I look down and watch it. I’m getting more bob than I did with my 6.6 but the suspension is more sensitive to the small stuff, which I like. The pro-pedal switch on the DHX is nice and I do flip it on for the long climbs. So far I’m very very happy with it and I’ve already made some climbs on it that I never could with the 6.6. If you’re in the market for a 6in travel XC bike I would highly recommend it. Oh, and it currently weighs 31lbs but with XTR I could get it sub 30. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I test rode a Slayer SXC at the St.Felicien World Cup race in 2007 and it was night and day different than my Slayer 70, much better suited to my riding style. The long seat stays make technical climbs a breeze, it feels very balanced F/R even with the fork at 160mm travel setting. Rides like a tall Element compared to the 2006 Slayer 70. The bike looks huge compared to my hardtail but when you're on the bike you only notice the length on very tight corners. My bike weighs 31.25 pounds but it never feels that heavy when you're riding it, the only place I notice the weight is getting it in and out of my car. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

There's a union right away when you sit on it. Very nice and fast handling, still slack enough angles to be fast on descents. Build quality: Hand made, do I need to say more? The bike has a perfect finish, perfect welds, especially very nice details put into the frame. Performance: The frame is pretty light for what it is, yet it feels very stiff. The rear end shows a magnificent performance as the bushings and bearings do have perfectly low friction (you can move it with one finger when the shock is removed). I never had a bike that was this sensitive and still doesn't bob much. It climbs very well, always very good traction, and it descents even better. Details: I really like the brake hose routings. They're very nicely done and are placed so well that the brake hose isn't kinked when the rear end moves through the travel. | | Weaknesses: | The seat post can't be lowered completely. Well, I knew that before I bought the frame. The center of the frame, around the bb, gets cluttered with mud very easily, cleaning is a must here after muddy rides. Cable routing to the front derailleur. I'd recommend this kind of bike to anyone who likes long rides as much as light freeride things on heavier trails. To me, it's the "one for all" bike.
