XTR dual control shifter brake levers. XTR dearilleurs, disc brakes, carks/bb combo, and disc hubs. Easton ec 90 carbon bar and ec 70 carbon post. Race face deus stem. Sram hollow pin chain. Egg beater single ti pedals. Mavic XC 717 rims. Maxxis ignitor 1.95 tires. Fox float rp3 rear shock. 2005 Element team sc frame (18 inch) w/carbon fiber rear end. (one of only 6 in canada excluding pro racers) | | Bottom Line: | I thought for months about weather I should get an elemnt or a vertex (hardtail). I was left with no option because the vertex doesn't come as a full bike. When I rode the elemnt I loved it. This frame weighed two lbs more than a hardtail of the same level. The hardtale would be 1 second faster on the flats. The full suspension would be 10 seconds faster on the desents. (especiallly rocky ones) DO THE MATH!
The 2 lbs more that full suspension weighs is worth it. Full suspension bikes are way faster on downhills but hardtails are barely faster on flats.
You don't burn out as easy on climbs with full suspension becasue it doesn't bounce around. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

im not sure how much i have mine because e built mine over last winter | | Similar Products Used: | santa cruz superlight, Giant NRS, Specialized Epic, intense tracer | | Bike Setup: | i built this from the frame up: rockshox sid race, 5th element air[i traded it out cause the fox is heavier and lock out is know to blow],FSA stem and carbon bars, thompson masterpiece post, complete Shimano XTR drive train[26-36-48 chainring set up], durace 11-21 rear casset, crank brother twin ti pedals and other cool stuff | | Bottom Line: | the bottom line is this bike is the awsome! it is goin to be my cross country racing and 24hr race bike. i just went on another trailride on it and it is such a fast nimble bike but unlike most bikes in its catagory it can take the bigger unexpected bumps, i really think that this bike is ment to have the 5th element air shock on the rear its just such a nice set up with the 3d link suspension, and the ride of scandium is great there is no flex when you stand up and sprint out and i should know im 6'1" and 210 lbs. THIS BIKE ROCKS!!!

It's everything you want from an XC bike | | Weaknesses: | It's made the girlfriend jealous of the love and attention. And the beauty. | | Similar Products Used: | First Full Susser | | Bike Setup: | XT throughout/Thompson (Selle SLR Saddle atop the Elite - that's nice). Some Hope on the way. | | Bottom Line: | I was old school. Steel hardtail - loved it, didn't want to change. Would race past my fully sussed buddies on the ups. Bike weight is important to me and was the main reason I hadn't dabbled in full suspension. Got this sub 5lb frame 2nd hand (unmarked) for £440 or around 1 beer a day for 6 months (got a bargain). Initial fears on an educated gamble immediately dismissed - the hills are even easier to get up and my god she goes down well too. Some of my friends are getting into DH bikes and they weigh a tonne - what's all that about? May as well chuck an engine on there while you're at it. $4000.00 | | Purchased At: | fresh air in BC | | Strengths: | light, strong, stiff, excellent suspension set-up. 20.5 inch frame, 25lbs with disc brakes. climbs as well if not better than a hardtail. decends like a demon, still getting used to downhill speed. | | Weaknesses: | none | | Similar Products Used: | ridden Santa Cruz bikes, and my previous wonderful blizzard from RM. | | Bike Setup: | XTR/XT, RaceFace, Easton, Mavic, Flite, Time..etc, etc... | | Bottom Line: | thought long and hard before buying full suspension, love this bike, very glad i waited and got this bike. looked at all of the bikes out there, Santa Cruz, Gary Fisher, you name it. looked at reviews on this site, bottom line was this, my last Rocky Mountain is still going strong and its ten years old, it has been ridden HARD and it is still fun to ride. all the reviews on this site of the element were glowing and for good reason, several guys had had SC's and liked this bike better. SC reviews were mixed and while my wife's is nice, the BB flexs a lot(its a superlight). i probably would have gotten a BLUR but then i'd have a SC, just like everyone else. This is an exclusive bike with serious mountain biking in mind. It is hard to get, i waited 8 months for mine, but if you know what you want, its worth the wait. if you like to go fast off road and don't do a lot of freeridin' stuff this thing is light and super responsive, could ride it all day and race it too. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |
