I bought it used in 1997 and at that time it was pretty much new. I rode it heavily for 3 years including 1 1/2 in North Van on the shore, before upgrading to a dually. This bike then became my commuter and has survived til now! It still has a number of original parts such as front wheen, fr derailler, bb/cranks, etc which shows how durable the bike is. It even survived a car crash where I was hit from behind (while riding)! I plan to continue using it for commuting. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

the bike overall is very quick and climbs good.

I like all its components mainly the Bomber shocks and the Race Face cranks and other components. Rocky Mountains may not be as popular as your bikes like Ellsworth and GTs , but as far as I have used it I like it a lot. | | Weaknesses: | The saddle can take some getting used to but you will eventually adjust to it. Also you may want to change your grips. After long rides they just don't seem to be as comfortable as some I've used. | | Similar Products Used: | K2 Zed 5.0 & Cannondales | | Bottom Line: | For the price of this bike and its nice components this makes a great hardtrail bike. This bike rides really nice, especially on trails. | | Weaknesses: | 3 inch travel only but the forks are great. Other than that there is no reason to spend more money. | | Similar Products Used: | Kona cindercone, specialized rockhopper, norco nitro | | Bike Setup: | Stock except I replaced the half breed clipless pedals for a set of flats. | | Bottom Line: | Best bang for the buck for me because the store I bought it from had a 20% off sale. Otherwise I would may have bought the Rocky Mountain Elevation or the Kona Cindercone. This is a great quality bike for intermediate to expert riders. The only reason to get a better hardtail is to race in competitions. This bike takes abuse and performs without flaw. This bike is a good value in a light, hard tail, no frills configuration. I love the orange color and the med size alum tubing and sloping down tube give the bike beefy looks. RM selected a good gruppo to fit the price. I'm happy! This is a good bike for those concerned about cost and wnat a harfd tail that's not form the mass produced factories of the other bike makers.
