Date Reviewed: March 3, 2008
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:Purchased used
Strengths:Durable, quality product. Lightweight frame.
Weaknesses:None that I have noted.
Similar Products Used:N/A - this bike has lasted so long I have had no need to replace it.
Bike Setup:LX drivetrain, Marz Z2, XT V brakes
Bottom Line:My Stratos is the old version, a 1992 model. I bought it used in 1997 and at that time it was pretty much new. I rode it heavily for 3 years including 1 1/2 in North Van on the shore, before upgrading to a dually. This bike then became my commuter and has survived til now! It still has a number of original parts such as front wheen, fr derailler, bb/cranks, etc which shows how durable the bike is. It even survived a car crash where I was hit from behind (while riding)! I plan to continue using it for commuting.

Date Reviewed: February 12, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:pacific rim
Strengths:Light, nimble, fast good components, made in B.C.!
Weaknesses:blue would have been better than orange, but at least hunters will see you
Similar Products Used:asama, gt, kona
Bike Setup:stock, swapped pedals for mean flats
Bottom Line:I spend a minimum of an hour a day on my ride commuting and then get into the dirt. The bike is comfortable, good fit and not energy sapping on long stays in the saddle. Awesome jumper. Anyone shopping for a bike should take a long look at one of these. They're from B.C.! Mountains, Forests, and Rocks. What better testing ground?

Date Reviewed: September 28, 2002
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:fat tire
Strengths:great handling, rides smooth, the brakes are outstanding
the bike overall is very quick and climbs good.
Weaknesses:a little rough over larger rocks, but then again it's a hard tail.the maxxis tires aren't very good on corners on loose dirt plus they don't shed mud easily.
Similar Products Used:schwinn,k2
Bike Setup:stock, replaced half breed pedals with clipless
Bottom Line:A very decent bike, as I mentioned very fast and light. The quality is first rate. The componets are also decent. I ride fairly hard on rough terrain I expect this bike to hold up for many years.

Favorite Trail:Sope Creek
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:Gallions
Strengths:With the Stratos' light Easton tubing it's weight is very low. I like all its components mainly the Bomber shocks and the Race Face cranks and other components. Rocky Mountains may not be as popular as your bikes like Ellsworth and GTs , but as far as I have used it I like it a lot.
Weaknesses:The saddle can take some getting used to but you will eventually adjust to it. Also you may want to change your grips. After long rides they just don't seem to be as comfortable as some I've used.
Similar Products Used:K2 Zed 5.0 & Cannondales
Bottom Line:For the price of this bike and its nice components this makes a great hardtrail bike. If you have a chance to use one try it out ,but that's me everyone is different.

Favorite Trail:Shuniah
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $800.00
Purchased At:Bailey's Sea and Ski
Strengths:Marzocchi forks perform perfectly, crank, sweet shifting, rigid frame, wild ride. This bike rides really nice, especially on trails.
Weaknesses:3 inch travel only but the forks are great. Other than that there is no reason to spend more money.
Similar Products Used:Kona cindercone, specialized rockhopper, norco nitro
Bike Setup:Stock except I replaced the half breed clipless pedals for a set of flats.
Bottom Line:Best bang for the buck for me because the store I bought it from had a 20% off sale. Otherwise I would may have bought the Rocky Mountain Elevation or the Kona Cindercone. This is a great quality bike for intermediate to expert riders. The only reason to get a better hardtail is to race in competitions. This bike takes abuse and performs without flaw. I recommend people to at least try one of these out before buying others in the same class.

Date Reviewed: June 23, 2002
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1050.00
Purchased At:webster bicycle
Strengths:race face cranks and bb along with the marzocchi fork, the stock seat is actually comfortable, maxxis tires are sick.
Weaknesses:deore components and the stock riser bars (narrow)
Similar Products Used:the ever popular cannondale (the bike to ride with the family around the nieghborhood)
Bike Setup:XTR shifter, brakes and brake levers, yeti dh riser bars, azonic shorty stem, answer seatpost
Bottom Line:this is the bike for the people that grew out of the bmx bike and needed something bigger. its perfect for flying through the trails or crusing around looking for jumps. not many people have one so you dont look like everyone else. the bike comes with an inspection tag signed by all the people that manufactured the frame, from the welder to the painter...
bottom line is that it doesnt take much to turn this bike into a trail terrorizor and the price is pretty reasonable too....

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1040.00
Purchased At:Greg's Cycles
Strengths:Build Quality. Price. Color. Reputation.
Weaknesses:none yet
Bottom Line:Great bike with excellent build quality for affordable pricing. I've heard good things about Rocky Moutain. This bike is a good value in a light, hard tail, no frills configuration. I love the orange color and the med size alum tubing and sloping down tube give the bike beefy looks. RM selected a good gruppo to fit the price. I'm happy! This is a good bike for those concerned about cost and wnat a harfd tail that's not form the mass produced factories of the other bike makers. And you know what - you get the right to say "eh" when talk to your friends cause its a true Canadian bike!
