$650.00 | | Purchased At: | Used. Bungays in Moncton | | Strengths: | Frame. Nuff said. This bike could probably withstand re-entry. I feel really centered while riding, and the balance is really responsive. | | Weaknesses: | Brakes. I just can't get stopped in time. Plus I have to adjust them constatnly. | | Similar Products Used: | Kona Stuff. Specialized Hardrock, Kona Scrap | | Bike Setup: | Stock, but with clipless pedals/ Kenda Nevegal 1.95 (rear) and Denda Blue Groove 1.95 (front) | | Bottom Line: | Solid Bike. It could use a slightly better fork, but the six si generally ok for cross country. The RMB pedals like to take chunks out of your shins, so I upgraded to clipless. I'd love to try out a pair fo Hope minis for brakes. changing the tires made a huge difference in efficiency. The maxxis mofos wore out quick and bogged down on the flats too easily. But after some tweaking this bike was sweeet. Great for downhill/cross country if you can handle a little extra weithg . That begger chainring likes to moooove!.

$600.00 | | Strengths: | Frame, the frame, and... oh yeah the frame | | Weaknesses: | components, fork | | Similar Products Used: | does my old huffy ten speed count? 03 RM ETSX-50 (sweet!) | | Bike Setup: | stock | | Bottom Line: | The bottom line is that I've beat the piss out of this bike for two years and have yet to do more than tighten some chainring bolts and change tires. It gets me to school and back everyday. Definately overkill for commuting, but stiff and reliable on trails. I upgraded to the ETSX this summer for trailriding, but I have started to experiment with trials riding. This bike has taken everything I've thrown at it and the only casualties so far are the fork and probably sometime soon the bottom bracket. Parallax hubs? RM headset? Alivio brakes? They've all stood up to my 190 body dropping off ledges and hopping up them. That's what this bike is all about. Toughness. The frame more than anything, it's handwelded and overbuilt. This frame is for riders who aren't as concerned about weight as they are durability. If anyone out there has broken one email me, I'd like to know how. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1300.00 | | Purchased At: | Gord's Ski & Bike | | Strengths: | FRAME!!! Hand welded in BC by master craftsmen who ride!! Geometry is Dialed for urban, DJ, and gnarly singletrack all at the same time! Unbelievable. WHEELS!! Hand laced, pre-stressed, and trued. | | Weaknesses: | Manitou Six Fork, Alivio shifter/brake pods, big chainring. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized P3, Hardrock A1, | | Bike Setup: | Truvativ Crank/ISIS BB w/Bash guard, DMR platform pedals, Brake booster w/ super soft pads, Marzocchi Z3 105 fork, and deore brake levers with separate shifters | | Bottom Line: | Manitou fork is OK for rec. riding, but flexed under big hits (plus elastomer dampening got rock hard in cold). Why Rocky put a big chainring on this bike, I'll never understand. Other than that, the bike is 'bomb proof' and I've definitely tried. The only time I ever needed to true the wheels is when I slipped off a wet skinny and got it caught under a 2X4 beside it tweaking the rim in 3 different directions. '03 version has got it taken to the next step with Discs, a half-decent coil/oil fork, and even stronger wheels.

$850.00 | | Purchased At: | simply the bike | | Strengths: | SOILD frame dying to be used and abused!!! responsive fast and looks good | | Weaknesses: | The v-brakes are rubbish and the forks are abit dodgy at times. + the Wheeltech wheels aren't all there cracked up to be - buckled within the first month!!! | | Bike Setup: | Stock, but with hope minis and hubs on mavic F219 LX/XT shifters | | Bottom Line: | WOW! what a great bike, now that I've changed the brakes. The frame allows you to build up a strong all round bike. Overall this is a great bike bike apart from those v-brakes and the buckled wheels, which can both be sorted out. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$800.00 | | Purchased At: | Skiis & Biikes | | Strengths: | Great fork, good rebound on it, headset feels solid, Nice Wheelset, good paintjob, nice seat, SOLID FRAME ! | | Weaknesses: | Alivio components, that's it, bit high of a price tag | | Similar Products Used: | 2002 Kona Stuff, 2002 Specialized Rockhopper Comp, 2002 Specialized Hardrock Comp | | Bike Setup: | stock | | Bottom Line: | Sweet bike for urban riding, won't fall apart on you, fork could be upgraded to a 130mm fork for serious riders. Would buy it if it was 200 dollars(CDN) cheaper. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
