$4000.00 | | Purchased At: | Sid's bike shop | | Strengths: | What can i say it's canadian built! | | Weaknesses: | The chain guide is the only flaw in this dynamic creation. For those of you who hate a noisy bike, the black spire is not for you. If you ride on the last two easy gears a horrible dragging clanking noise is created from the chain rubbing the inner plate causing both chain & inner plate to wear out............NOT GOOD! And I would also loose the chain in the system as well either by back pedaling or just doing drops. | | Similar Products Used: | Nothing comes close........well maybe sex...yeah good sex. | | Bike Setup: | pretty much kept it the same w/the changes as follow..... $1300.00 | | Purchased At: | ride-on | | Strengths: | everything, this frame would not break if hit by a truck. The geomatry is perfect, their thrust link is the best sus system ive ridden, the sus stroke is smooth and buttery through the first half of the travel then gets harder(progressive)for bigger landings. Which makes it an awesome dh and extreme fr.The paint job is better than the M1's. The linkage on the trust link is nice and burly. The bearings have perfect response in and out of corners and rocky sections. | | Weaknesses: | chaging gear is pretty poor, but that could just be my shifter. Rear mech hits trust link but easy to fix. Chain deveice is s**t unless a differnet back plate is put on, then it is near perfect. | | Similar Products Used: | kona stab, m1,patriot 222, armageddon, lobo, giant dh comp, stab primo, tazer sx, marin b17!!oh and an apollo guru. lol. | | Bike Setup: | rm7 dh,monster t's, hope e4's, black spear chain, north shore xs, goldtec wheel set, intense (2.7 2.4,sticky rubber)d251's | | Bottom Line: | this bike can take anything, Ive just taken it off a 12 foot drop rode out clean.I used to have the stab 99, it was a great bike but with this extra inch on the rm7's rear sus in proggresives makes the bike crush technichle sections, and overclears big drops with ease.It so nice that it didnt take long for my mate to be convienced by its true power!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$3900.00 | | Purchased At: | Mach 1 Cycle and Sports | | Strengths: | This thing is amazing. The linkage gives one of the plushest rides I have ever felt and it pedals like a dream! I ride into work (my LBS) each day and its like 5 kms. Bottom Line the thing is great. Great speced parts, no rocky knock-off parts to reduce cost, all quality titec, shimano and RF gear. Super T is also amazing. Great bang for the buck. | | Weaknesses: | A pretty bad chainline if you try to run anything other than a chainguide (triple rings) problem solved by using the guide. Not a huge problem. Also, not enough clearance in the rear on 24' wheels (also sloved by running a 2.6 instead of a 2.7 or a 26' wheel). Lastly the chain is aweful close to the stay. But what are you gonan do? None of thse are weaknesses they are just TINY flaws that Rocky can fiz for next year. NO PROBLEMS>>>A GREAT RIDE<<<<<< | | Similar Products Used: | SC Bullit, Super 8, VVP 10, RM9, Norco Team DH/Shore, Brodie Devo. | | Bike Setup: | All stock except I use a smaller guide (NS-1 Blackspire with a 34 T ring) and sometimes I throw on the old front der. for climb w/ blacspire rings. | | Bottom Line: | Holy God people, you do get more than you pay for with this rig. Amazing pedaler (I can out sprint my buddies for almost 2km's when their riding full XC bikes!!!) If you got the cahs hook it up fa shizel with an RM7DH!!!!! Prolly one of the best rides around. I've hit up to 8 footers to complete flats and this thing takes it all in stride while begging for more abuse. BUY THIS BIKE!!!!!! $2700.00 | | Purchased At: | Roy's Sheepshead Cycle | | Strengths: | Bomb Proof frame, good parts for price paid, Thrus link Suspension Butter, peddles better than most bikes in its category, makes eight feet flat concret landings feel like landing on Air-Suspention Soaks up all the impacts, the high BB will comes in handy for Plattekill and Connecticut rides this summer, Thrustlink Suspension Much stronger than it looks, To understand suspension concept you must first ride this Machine. | | Weaknesses: | Chain line was atrocious. Problem solved by running a smaller BB. little Vertical play in the rear suspension-called the guys at RockyMountain. They explained everything -the play was designed into the thrustLink for needle bearing clearance. The guys at Rocky are really helpful. Excellent customer service. | | Similar Products Used: | Giant AC1,Norco Launch, SC Bullit, Kona Stinky Primo, and more........ | | Bike Setup: | Azonic 2" rizer Bar,Yeti lock on Grips,Titec DH stem, Sunringle flats, smaller BB, MAxxis 2.5 Highrollers, 8" rear rotor. Everything else stock | | Bottom Line: | My bike is the 2001 model. The Frame is the same as the 2002 model. Bottom Line, This bike Rocks, I call it my Kick ASS RM7. The bike has been living up to its name and reputation on and off the trails. Rocky Mountain bicycles cost more than most other bicyces because they are hand made in Canada. A lot of detailed Craftsmanship goes into each bike. Its not mass produce in China or Taiwan, I have been riding my RM7 for the past two months and my confidence to try higher jumps and drops keeps increasing with each new ride. I don't ever have to worry about the bike falling apart after a big drop. I just think about whats next. This one is definitely a keeper. The pros far out number the cons with this bike. If Wade Simmons' ride it i have no problems with it. If you are a hardcore free rider and you are in the market looking for a good reliable bombproof bike that looks a little different from the rest and you have the cash to shell out, this is the bike for you. If you have a personal issue against Rocky Mountain Seek Therapy otherwise shut up and go ride. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I feel I must explain somethings. The play in the linkage is supposed to be there, but Rocky is producing and upgrade kit for it now that is sealed bearings and increases rea end stiffness for a very small cost. The frame is stiff, very stiff. But if the pivot comes loose and you dont have the upgrade kit it feels like something is horribly wrong(simple maintnance people) Those "cheezy endcaps" are sandwiched between the frame, swingarm and a 12mm solid pivot axle. They are just a washer. If your worried about breaking this thing e-mail me and i will show you video of me (167 pounds with backpack) landing a 20 footer on an RM6 sideways with no damage. Terrible pivot point bearings half needle bearings, half cartridge on rear pivots. An aluminum clamp washer on each side of the bike is the only thing holding the rear end on the frame. (super cheesy) | | Similar Products Used: | kona stinky, santacruz bullit | | Bike Setup: | mostly stock, triple chainrings NS cranks, xt front der | | Bottom Line: | Rocky Mt has a good thing going here but it needs work. They need to stiffen all the rear pivot points with cartridge bearings and specifically machined pivot bolts. Get rid of the cheesy main pivot clamp washer!! I'm really suprised the rear end stays on the bike on a big drop. Here's the big one: If you thought you were getting 7" of rear travel your not!! It's about 5.75". If you ever had an RM6 you were only getting 4.75". NICE LIE GET A FOES X-FLY at least you really do get 8" of travel. All you RM6 owners alert!! YOU could change your bike to an RM5.75 but Rocky wont give up their precious sloppy RM5.75 rocker plates and thrust link. Super soft and plush, but with a rising progressive rate does not bottom! Handles like a dream, I feel like Wade when I ride it! | | Weaknesses: | Some bad component selection for a $3800 bike. LOUD!- Some play in rear end, BUT NOT IN THE LINKAGE. I'm working on finding the cause, but it sure is loud on stutter bumps on the trail! I'm sure it's something simple. | | Similar Products Used: | Aeon Joker (doodoo), Marin Team DH | | Bike Setup: | '02 RM7dh, '02 Monster T (real nice), Ruffian grips, triple chainrings up front, 26" wheels, nice parts | | Bottom Line: | This is the coolest looking bike I have ever seen, and the plushest progressive suspension I've ever felt. I am very happy with the frame. The parts, however, are a different story. I won't post anything for now. Anyways, the bike rides awesome. After a few bugs get worked out, I will be extremely stoked. Oh yeah, the rear shock spring takes a few rides to soften up, so don't be alarmed at first. Has survived a few big drops so far (15' and several less). Confidence inspiring, or maybe that's the Monster T, either way, this bike is great. Holds a line like no other. Not heavy after riding it for a bit. Cool parts (minus the dogpoo like chaintensioner "Blackspire licks sweaty pouch"). Bomb proof forks, brakes (hayes rock), wheels, saddle, tires, and so on. | | Weaknesses: | Blackspirechain device. (the sweaty pouch licker of chain devices) | | Similar Products Used: | Norco VPS 1(sucked poo), Tried the Santa Cruz Bullet (again sucked poo), unfortuntly the RM-7DH is a swingarm single pivot bike, there really is nothing to compare it to. Stoopid magazine editors never talk smart) | | Bike Setup: | Stock other than tossing the chaindevice at the nearest magizine editor, swapped it for a front derailluer, shifter 34 ring, and bashgaurd. | | Bottom Line: | this bike is the bomb. Beats the other out of the box DH bikes hands down. A high bottom bracket let's you rail corners. 7 inches of progessive travel lets you hit the craziest drops and come out looking for more. I've only done a 7 foot to a trani, but i've seen bigger. Not only that but when i go out for a coffee, all the chicks stop to talk about my bike.
