It can handle anything, feels like there's more rear travel than 125mm. Great bike for the "all-mountain" rider who wants to push the limits before moving onto a full fledged black-daimond or DH bike. | | Weaknesses: | I guess it is a little heavy for a bike with less than 5" of travel. Brakes are sweet. | | Weaknesses: | The bike doesn't have a solid feel to it for drops. It feels light and nimble in the back like you could break it on a 7+ drop WITH tranny. I still do it though... Which has lead to problems in the drivetrain. Also the bike runs tall so make sure to test ride this bike before you get it, very important. Also, I was hoping for a little bit better components. | | Similar Products Used: | Everything | | Bike Setup: | Nice and stock, oh, I replaced the way uncomfortable seat, now it has a much nice ride. | | Bottom Line: | The bottom line here is make sure you know you want this bike before you get it. Now I have rode countless other All Mountain bikes, and I have to say, the RM Edge is the way to go. Just don't do big drops, especially to flat because this bike will feel unstable. Another thing, this bike needs a lot of matinence. Keep the bike clean and she will do the same to you.

My advice is to either bump up to a Switch by Rocky Mountain (which got kick-ass reviews) for a more freeride bike or a Element by Rocky Mountain. The frame is great although, I didn't like how they used stickers for the Rocky Mountain logo. Overall, this bike is good for someone who is looking for only a LITTLE more suspension than a cross-country, and not looking for a freeride, otherwise, you are wasting you're money. I initially hesitated due to the weight factor, but the extra weight is more than compensated for by the confidence-inspiring ride. The list price is probably too high as far as some of the components are concerned, but because I got such an amazing deal for mine from a dealer who wanted to unload last year's model, I feel I paid the right price ($1619.00 Canadian) so I'm completely happy on all angles. If I had to dig for something to gripe about it's the fact that they put too many stickers on it then clearcoated over them, making it impossible to remove them without damaging the paint. Stickers are for kids.The frame is a work of engineering art, the welds are perfect and I could find no anomolies in the finish and no lags in the attention to detail. The wheels are very well built and true. The RaceFace cranks were a good choice. Like anything, you have to ride it and love it and let that make your final decision. I have taken my Edge to several mountains for some downhill rips and it had no trouble. The Magura discs worked great as well as the everything else on the bike. The wrong spring (or air pressure) in a rear shock or fork can't be fixed by changing the compression or rebound rates. ( very surprised I was too) Its confidence inspiring ride to the point of "if I crash, its gonna REALLY hurt"
