Strengths:handles well.Im 5 11" 190 pounds and I hit 5 ft jumps with no problem. love these forks
    Weaknesses:none to report
Bike Setup:2000 GT Rebound: all Shimano XTR 8spd shifters, RD, FD, cassette, Easton EC70 carbon bars, italia seat, CB 50/50 pedals.

Favorite Trail:hard core urban assault, we xc
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Purchased At:came with the bike
Strengths:it's 4 years old, has been used a lot and probabely got poor maintenance from previous owner: no leak or funny noises so far! It feels good and smooth on my daily urban assault or weekend xc rides. Does't pump too much and feels safe when hard breaking on bumpy hard pack. Eats happily the bumps and holes that cross my way (urban stuff or weekend high speed forest rides)
Weaknesses:not realy suitable for hardcore moutain trials (bumps&jumps); but neither is the rest of my bike...
    Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:second hand commencal 2000' super normal 45" (xc bike, got it for 180$ :), LX transmition, XT 4 piston breakes with 160mm rotors, 2000' rockshox judy XC, new geax mezcal tires.
Bottom Line:maybe not a high end xc shock but it wont let you down or require carefull maintenance. No worries if you find one on a used bike.

    Favorite Trail:Mt Dandenong fire roads
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $80.00
    Purchased At:Bike Swap Meet
Strengths:Stiff and very good, progressive damping. Excellent seals, used to be a Rockshox weakness.
Weaknesses:A bit heavy, but that's the price of plush coils and oil! No rebound adjuster (change the oil lazy!).
    Similar Products Used:RST 281/381/Alfalfa. Manitou X-Vert.
Bike Setup:Merida Dominator, Shimano 535 Wheelset, Truvativ 5D's, RST 56a shock.
Bottom Line:A very good fork for the money! Mine are prototypes ("Prototype" laser etched on steerer and crown) and have 125mm travel and appear to have 10wt oil (I believe 5wt is standard). I swapped to 12.5wt synthetic motorcycle fork oil and it suits me much better.

    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Purchased At:came with the bike
Strengths:I've driven it for over 2 years and it never broke down. Only cleaned it once. Travel adjustment 63/80/105 about 1hr work with no extra parts. Plush ride, comforting.
Weaknesses:Maybe the weight? No external rebound adjustment.
Bike Setup:Klein Attitude 2000 with Race Face Prodigy crank, FiR wheelset, Avid arch rival brakes, conti explorer pro tires.
Bottom Line:I like it, it makes you wonder what all the adjustable thingies on other forks are for. It might not be the most sophisticated, but I give it 4 chillies because it has always given me confidence and never let me down, even on the hardest trails.

Weaknesses:the medium springs are a little plush for medium
    heavy
    steel steerer and tube
    plastic plugs
Similar Products Used:manitou magnum, sid XC, judy race, old judy xc

Bottom Line:Great fork. Came stock, and i didnt know much about biking when i bought it, but im glad i did buy it. The fork has given me no problems, except for the internals, which rock shox replaced without hesitating. The fork is definetly heavy, but who cares, im not a weight buff, and what else do you expect from an all travel fork? Im sad to say that i am getting rid of it and getting a 2002 Duke SL..only because im getting into more serious riding, and need something a little more responsive. But im going to keep my Judy XC...jsut incase. If you can get a hold of this fork somehow, do it, great upgrade over a Jett or manitou magnum.

Strengths:adjustable travel, oil damping (diff weight oils adjust comp/rebound damping rates), black nitrided fork tubes, disc mounts, plush travel, no bottoming problems
    Weaknesses:slightly heavy, single crown
Bottom Line:Take the time and set it up to your liking (travel, springs, oil) and you will smile a happy little smile as you demolish anything in your path. Just make sure to have a quality rear shock that compliments it or you'll have an unbalanced ride. I'd prefer the XLC version with dual crowns though and think the extra rigidity would be worth the additional weight PLUS the added benefit of not having the front wheel spin around and rip your shift cables and brake lines out. No leaks or noises in 2yrs of hard use. Forget the boots, they aren't needed.

Strengths:Eats up stairs and alike (not into urban assault but we all get curious). Haven't bottomed it out yet.
Weaknesses:A little squishy on uphills but nothing else. I used it for a 26-mile road ride/fundraiser and it was a little too much. A little heavy too.
Similar Products Used:Nothing similar...just an Indy C and Jett '00
Bike Setup:Haro EX1 (full suspension from 1998!!!), XTR fr. & rear derailleur (chain too), XTR brake & shifter pods, XTR brake levers, LX crankset, XT 9-speed cassette, FOX Float RL rear suspension, Ritchey stem and a bunch of Topo stuff everywhere else
Bottom Line:Buy it and turn a mediocre mtb and make it a dream to ride (like I did). Keep it on the trails, too much for commuters.

    Strengths:Easy to Maintain (if any),
    Takes a lot of abuse,
    steers great,
    inexpensive
    Holds up to the elements
    Weaknesses:Heavy
    Similar Products Used:All other Judy's
    Marzocchi Z5, Z4, Z3
    Manitou SX
Bottom Line:This a totally bomb proof fork. It's to bad that this has moved down the food chain in the 2002 line-up.

You don't need much mechanical "know-how" to maintain or rebuild this fork. It's alittle on the heavy side, but it sure can take a beating. I've had it for about year now and I have ridden it in winter. Without fail, this fork is works consistently in all seasons, hot or cold. It came stock on my ride but I'd say it was well worth keeping (I was going to switch it out). If you're looking for an low maintenance fork, with a bomb proof design and you don't mind the weight then this forks for you. It may be alittle heavy for racing but it is an excellent weekend warrior fork.

Hat's off to the boys and girls at Rock Shox on this product.

    Purchased At:team performance
Strengths:Smooth when moving rapidly, rarely bottoms out
Weaknesses:hisses, leaks a little, bounces during climbs, can't replace the steering tube.
Similar Products Used:This is my first ever suspension fork
Bike Setup:GT Tequesta, everything XT except fr. derailleur (stock) and rims (LX).
Bottom Line:I was more than happy with this product. It was leaking and hissing a lot a first, but was not an issue once I broke it in. It bounces quite a bit on climbs, but that may be due to my ht./wt. (5'8" 200lbs.) I just bought a new frame and can no longer use this fork because the steerer tube was cut down to 7 inches making it too small. I'm in the process of shopping for a new fork, possibly a Judy SL or Duke XC since they've gotten good ratings on this site.

    Bike Setup:98 GT Backwoods.
Bottom Line:I've ridden these forks for a year, no problems. You know what? Springs are better than just about anything out there. I'm a big guy (6foot, 220) so I wanted something that would take abuse. I think that Rock Shox has really rethought what they were doing. Lots of travel, lots of durability. There is one caveat though! These are not racing forks. They're a little too heavy for that. But they are plush, with little flex. I don't worry too much about this "squeaking" everybody talks about. I'm legally deaf!

    Purchased At:ayrun cicles
Strengths:really plush!! i've got the fork at 80mm and until now didn't bottom out (at 6' and 85kg). judy sucks up everything from small to 3' steps, seems to be strong and enough stiff for cross country and rocky single tracks and even freeride. i'll stick with my judy for a long time!!
Weaknesses:a little on the heavy side (but are you a man or a flojo yuppie?) came with less oil than required, so makes some spring noise and squeeking - but no problem if you fill more oil.
    Similar Products Used:judy c 01
Bike Setup:marin steel hardtail with judy, stx components, kuips ahead-set, light schwalbe tires, and other new stuff..
Bottom Line:since i put the judy on my steel frame, it's a new bike! higher speed, steeper decents, better braking, safer jumps... alltogether controll in every situation. no rebound adjustment dosent matter, use diferent oil and you'll have a much better result. spring pre-adjustment works good.
all in all a great fork, especeally at that low price!
there is no real weakness, just some little working noise, but my screaming on fast decent trails is louder!!!
