Favorite Trail:anything I can ride
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:torpedo7
Strengths:Stiff, plush, short break-in time, adjustments actually work and good value.
Weaknesses:None picked up so far..
Similar Products Used:Rock Shox Tora, Z1 Bomber (2000)
Bike Setup:Giant Reign, Saint brakes, Azonic Outlaw wheelset, all the rest is spec.
Bottom Line:Very happy. I'm an ordinary rider at best and rely on my bike to get me out of trouble, or if I don't get the line I want the bike has to deal with it instead. This is done on the fork side quite easily now. It tracks straight and inspires confidence quickly. The adjustments are easily felt and make actual changes instead of guessing if there's something going on. If these get destroyed by me I'll get another set without hesitation.

Favorite Trail:Glentress, Innerleithen and local trails
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:Standart On ghost Dual pro, purchased at Bikestore.cc
Strengths:Great adjustment possibilties, Great travel adjustment
Very smooth on trail, Great value, Very tough and looks good.
Weaknesses:Soft spring bottoms out on 6ft+ drops
Rebound adjuster falls from bottom of fork
Similar Products Used:Marzocchi drop offs, Fox Vanillas, Manitou stance static
Bike Setup:Ghost Dual Pro standard. Pikes, Shimano Xt, Louise Fr, Holzfeller cranks, Richey bars stem&head set etc. Mavic Rims, Schwalbe Rubbers
Bottom Line:This fork is really very good. Ive been riding this fork for 6months and i started with small 2ft drops and 6ft jumps. But ive moved on to 6ft+ drops and 15 ft gaps. The fork rides wonderfully on trail and soaks up all the small rocks and bumps.
My only issue to warn you about is that if you are wanting to use this for freeride, i recomend you buy the harder spring, because the standard one is for trail not freeride.
I higlhy recomend this fork to any rider who is short on money but is looking for a high quality fork. It rides wonderfully well and for 500 dollars it really is a dream.

Submitted by Sam a Downhiller from Christchurch, New Zealand
Date Reviewed: November 29, 2006
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:Bike HQ for $765 NZD
Strengths:U-Turn Travel adjust works awesome, great adjustability. Soak up the bumps really well, great small bump sensitivity, take the big hits aswell. Maxle is really easy to use, but still just as stiff as any other thru axle fork. Really light. Awesome for DJ, Urban, DH and XC fork.
Weaknesses:Rebound adjuster fell out. But is not a big deal as they are cheap and you can just use an allen key if you want.
Bike Setup:2006 Kona Cowan. Maxxis Minions, Mudcutter rotors, blue ODI Intense lock ons.
Bottom Line:At first I wasn't so sure about the Maxle. But I have grown to love it. It easier to take the wheel off than a quick release, but just as stiff as any other 20mm thru axle fork i've tried.

These forks are great for any riding style, whether it be DJ, Urban, All-Mountain, XC, Freeride or Downhill. They are so light, but can also take a pounding. And they are really good value forks. Would not have any other fork on my hardtail than these.

Strengths:Looks great, works great, adjustable travel, makes you think it's strong !!!
Weaknesses:Crap !!! I can't belive i actualy say this, but this fork is crap !!! It's not as strong as it looks. I had a lite fall today, and gues what ? it bent !!!
Yes you heard right !!! It bent. Before this fork i had a marzocchi dirt jumper 2002, and it was stronger, i never had such a big problem as i have now with this fork!
I'm going to give up mountainbiking now, becaus i can aforde tu buy a new one and of course the waranty won't cover "abuse" as they say. THANK YOU ROCK SHOX !!!

Strengths:*Really plush
*20 mm thru axle
*Great adjustability
*Best fork ive owned
Weaknesses:Needs alan key to adjust floodgate control-unlike other model (don't know which one) which has a knob. But the pro's certainly out weigh this minor weakness

Favorite Trail:Exit 27~!
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:Bicycle Sports Pacific
Strengths:Great adjustability - for the ride up I drop it to 90mm with the locked out rebound and on the way down I crank it back to 140mm with some squish. With only a turn I can get compression and rebound dialed in.

The Maxxle system is nice too - quick release on a 20mm axle. Smart - very smart.
Weaknesses:I haven't found it yet. I've probably got to pound it a bit more - I'm 200lbs and I haven't bottomed out yet - probably just for lack of trying, though.
Similar Products Used:Jr. T, '00 Z1, '96 Judy SL, '92 Mag 21 [I'm aging myself here...]
Bike Setup:Cove Stiffee FR, 8" discs, a mess of Truvativ, RaceFace, SRAM and Shimano. This was supposed to be a second bike and has quickly become my favorite.
Bottom Line:I bought this at a boxing day sale at Bicycle Sports Pacific for $400 cdn, not knowing what to think of the fork. 6 weeks later, I love it. Great ride, adjustments - the fork really makes the bike. I don't know what's different in the Pike brand, but this one has been a great purchase for me.
