My first race of the season second lap just flying i get to a tecknical downhill and just abused the bike so bad blew the fork right out and still ended up getting 4th... bottom line i think the new foxes are way better

Bottom Line:
I bought this from a clydsdale. It was too flexible for him. I weigh 160 lbs and, since my main concern is weight, it works fine for me. I took it the LBS for routine service and they found the carbon steerer tube was cracked. Under warranty, RockShox replaced my fork with a new 2006 World Cup, no questions asked. I was very impressed. RockShox said it cracked because the stem was not compatible with the fork.

Carbon steerer tube is nice. Light, and way better than those old light blue SID's.
Weaknesses:
Seals broke over and over...gave up on it. I don't ride that hard, just normal XC riding with ZERO all-mountain stuff. A tad flexy, but not too bad.

Bottom Line:
At 160 lbs, I shouldn't have blew out the seals over and over on really not hard riding. Go over a small rock garden and then off to the shop. Way lighter than the Fox, but not that much lighter than the SID Team. Bottom line: Get the SID team, save money, get a stiffer fork and one that has worked well.

Bottom Line:
First and formost this fork is expensive. That is not really and issue if you are serious about riding, but it should be said. Being from a BMX background and know how to make my way downhill fast and smooth (not simply barreling down like a rock), I really appreciate the smooth line and track-a-bility of this fork. Took about 1.5lbs off the front end by simply installing it! Feels great tilting the bike to one end or the other while making turns. The airborne's geometry really forces you to have the right "form" on the bike for each situation and the SID accentuates this greatly. I have gotten myself back into riding weight (about 165-170lbs) and I can almost fly with this fork! Would not be so great for heavier riders, though. If you got the beans...buy it!

I WEIGHT ABOUT 185 TO 190LBS... I WAS LITTLE SCARED TO GET ON THIS FORK AND DO THE STUFFS THAT I USED TO DO WHEN I HAD THE MARZOCHII MARATHON SL.. BUT SURPRRISINGLY THIS FORK IS MORE STIFFER AND CONTROLLABLE... VERY EXPENSIVE BUT IT DOES THE JOB... THE ONLY THING THAT SHOULD BE DONE IS SETTING THE PRESSURE RIGHT...+/- SHOULD BE SET ... WHEN IS SET RIGHT THIS FORK WELL BE A WINNER FOR U... I COULD CLIMB UP EASIER AND MANUVER AROUND EASIER... BIG IMPROVEMENT ON MY BIKE... IF U GOT THE MONEY GET IT BUT IF UR OVER WEIGHT STAY AWAY FROM IT....

Bottom Line:
I ride 5-6 times per week, mostly firetrails and single track. Don't exactly know how many miles this is, but around 14+ hours per week. The trails vary from rough and rocky walking tracks, smooth fast single track and massive 45 minute firetrail climbs and fast silly descents. Apart from a manufacturing fault in the sliders (pitting in the finish) that apparently Rockshox will replace, these forks are for me the ultimate XC fork. Giving away a little stiffness for weight is fine by me. The latest Fox forks are stiffer and maybe a little more plush, but they are heavier. In isolation, the World Cup SID's totally rock. The carbon crown looks amazing - a work of art really! The lockout on the 'bar is the best feature. It works, it helps with sprints and climbs and stops the mucking around when you're trying to lock the fork quickly. No reliability issues yet. Gotta keep 'em serviced by guys who know though. Getting the air pressure right for your riding style is crucial, but I tend to play with this a bit depending on the type of ride I am doing. I weigh 77Kg (sorry US readers) and use 130PSI. If you are a dedicated XC rider who loves climbing and rides with a bit of finesse downhills, these forks are for you. Definitely an overkill for the casual rider, but when you're spending big bucks on a bike and you want the lightest fork that works, I'd say buy these.

Strengths:
Light! At 2.86lbs, it makes the front end feel like a feather. Surprisingly stiff for having a carbon crown and steerer tube. The remote poploc is very very sweet. Smoothest 80mm fork i've ever rode.
Weaknesses:
None so far. Price...if you consider that a weakness.
