Strengths:
Very light fork for as strong as it is. Holds air even after 3 years, I always clean and lube the stancions and gaskets after every ride. This fork is a little flexy but by no means does this inhibit your riding. The fact that this fork is so light makes it feel like I am floating on air, which I am so I guess it is working. The lock-out has never given me problems and these forks work great with disc brakes. I would definitely recommend this fork to anyone who rides cross-country or a week-end warrior, but downhill would be too aggressive for this fork(which is not a downfall by no means).
Weaknesses:
A little flexy but still does the job none the less.

Heard a lot about this fork blowing seals, leaking oil and expensive repairs but i have nothing but respect for "The SID Team". I hammer my bike over/down anything and everthing (not big jumps) and has never let me down. Have experienced a small amount of flex but nothing to worry about, would probably of bought a Reba Team if it was available when I bought the Sid, purely for the fact that I am 6ft 3" and 215 lbs. Apparently its a little stiffer and heavier. Needless to say, I won`t be rushing out to buy a Reba, I LOVE MY SID!!

This IS the fork for XC racers! Ok, I'm 160, so if you're 145 then maybe try the World Cup and see if the seals work better for you. I have hammered this fork on XC trails, solid technical riding, rock gardens during races, etc...and it simply works great! It felt, and probably was, 0.6 lbs lighter than the Fox, and worked just as well. OK, maybe the Fox was a tad stiffer but the weight penalty will remove all of that gain in minutes. I will buy this fork again. I say save your money, ask yourself "Am I really bottoming out my 100mm alot?" and if you answer "no" then get this fork.

This is a very light and strong fork which can take a pounding. The seals are great and look brand new even after a year of heavy riding.

Bottom Line:
I have to say this fork is worth every penny I spent on them. No matter what I throw at her, she just keeps on going. I haven't had to do anything maintenance wise since I bought it over a year ago. I always clean the tubes off after every ride and she is ready to go the next ride. I have had many other forks(Fox, Marzocchi and manitou) which always needed to be maintained due to leaky seals even though I cleaned them after every ride also. Will be sticking with SID Team from now on.

Pop Lock is fantastic, the fork is incredibly light, the travel is smooth…enough, looks dead sexy. Although the travel isn’t quite as smooth as other forks I have, it’s quality travel. This fork seems to have more than 80mm of travel. I have had the MARS CL, Marzocchi Marathon, Fox float RLC, and this SID easily has the best lockout of them all.
Weaknesses:
When compared to my Marzocchi Marathon and my Fox Float this thing is a noodle. It’s flexy, and the travel is a little sticky.

Bottom Line:
This fork is great for the price I suppose. This fork has a purpose; to race. This is not the same pedigree as Marzocchi’s Marathon, or Fox’s Float. These aforementioned forks can be used in all mountain applications, and I think they find their home there with smooth travel and super stiff crowns. The SID Team, on the other hand feels like a race fork. It’s lighter, but not nearly as laterally stiff as other offerings out there. This serves its purpose.

Well i am just using it for less than a month. Its cool.... peoples are admiring it. I feel stable when taking a sharp high speed corner especially when decending from hill & also when activate the remote poploc gave more power when climbing steep hill, at least 30% more.
Conclusion: SID is the answer for all CrossCountry cyclist & also light off road. Because of its feather weight & will last long. My old SID Race still works well but decided to change. If you're planning to buy a Cross country fork & this is the answer.

this is a follow up review... read the one below for strengths and bike setup.(for racing) well i have made my own mind up about SID's. i now wont listen to others bc i have taken mine through a lot of hard riding and hard racing. my SID has lived up to its purpose and then some! i have done almost a dozen srping races and pushed it very hard and still this fork amazes me. ive had no flex problems, leaks-air or oil, and no durability issues what so ever. i will be buying another one for next season too! happy trails..

The SID Team is a great XC mixture of light weight and good performance for a small price. The product is designed for XC riders less than 190 pounds that like XC riding.
Weaknesses:
Rock Shox seems to have ceded the high end market to 'Fox'. Their offerings while good price performers in their XC niche don't seem to compete head to head with Fox.

Bottom Line:
The SID Team is a great performing product for its category. It is less expensive that the Fox offerings and is well suited to XC freeriding and racing. You need to monitor the shock for oil appearing on the stanchions - when you see oil build up you need to have the shock serviced (once a year if you ride 2 - 3 times per week). I rode the SID SL for two years w/o servicing it. When sent in to be serviced it turned out to be cheaper to buy a new one! I expected to pay about $80 to have the seals and oil changed but this was not the case. When oil appears on the stanchions do not continue riding the shock - you will 'score' the stanchions and need to replace the shock (I was qouted $280 to rebuild - replacement was $350).
Product has a good price point, has low weight, but you do need to service it at regular intervals.

i was a bit scared going to this fork from what others have said. but i needed a light racing shox. and im BLOWN away by its performances. plush, light, rebound, lockout, and stiffnes..( but 17 n im 140lbs.) but i dont ride easy. i over use my gear but always maintain it after every ride or race and take it to the sponsor for check up and oil and seal changing one a month. i race semi-pro and it has taken many long training rides and few races. it has rocked! ill post a review later on down the course to let everyone know its durablity.
