I raced it for Short Track and XC but dialed down to 80mm or lower. It handled well but at the cost of weight. The damping still leaves the fork feeling a little like a pogo stick...bottoming out easily. The problem is that I want a good fork but I don't have two bikes for the difrent purposes. So the U-turn can transform your maratonbike into a freeride. I've used it for about 300km (180M) now and no problems so far. It cant be done on the fly and for climbing i have it all the way down, and all other times i have it all the way up. its a useless and expensive gimmic and it ruins the asthetics. also the rebound controll iss too hard to reach, ive learned to do it w/ the tip of my foot but i cant do it at high speeds or bumpy sections. also i have trouble trusting the crown since it is glued on and it feels like plastic. | | Similar Products Used: | marzocci exr comp. manitou sherman. fox float. fox talas. I weigh 185 and it's strong enough for me. Lots of Azonic bits and Mavic wheels. | | Bottom Line: | I really dig these forks. Yes, they are a bit soft if you weigh more than 80kg like me. I bought the firmer spring kit and am very happy, with one exception - The orange travel adjuster knob is cheap plastic rubbish. I did the allen bolt up loosely and it just crumbled. I paid for a new one and did it up even looser and it's already starting to crack! I am not some ham-fisted thug who over-tightens everything, I've been working in the bike industry for 5 years and racing for 12. These knobs are rubbish, plain and simple. RockShox do a great job of making good forks at reasonable prices, but this is one corner they shouldn't have cut. Plastic is not a good material for this sort of application (or fork top caps for that matter). RockShox need to start making more parts out of alloy before they ever deserve a 5 star rating.
