Favorite Trail:Island Line, Burlington, VT
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $80.00
Purchased At:Earl's Cyclery and F
Strengths:Built strong, available in steep angles and long lengths, relatively light
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Truvativ
Bike Setup:'06 Kona Hoss
Bottom Line:I needed to bring up my handlebars a couple inches, and this stem fit the bill. I got one with a steep 35 degree angle and 110mm of length. It put the handlebars exactly where I needed them.

This product is marketed as a road stem, but it's survived some pretty harsh mountain biking without any issues. I'm 6'1" and weigh 260 pounds, but I wouldn't hesitate to punish it even more. The 4 face bolts hold my handlebars extremely tight, and the 2 opposed steerer bolts do a great job of keeping things solid.

My only issue is the price, which is a tad higher than I hoped to pay for a stem. But I don't regret it at all.

Date Reviewed: February 3, 2008
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Purchased At:with bike
Strengths:clean cut good looking
light
no creeking, even after 3 years of riding
Weaknesses:no short lengths to choose from
Similar Products Used:a few cheapy's and Raceface AM Atlas(bar clamp bolts flash rusted after 24hrs.)
Bike Setup:koga-miyata tls
Bottom Line:Quite simply the best I have ever used. My riding style has changed a bit over the years and I decided to go for a much shorter stem. My Ritchey Pro is 110mm but I needed to go down to 50mm. From what I can see Ritcheys shortest is 80mm. My choice would be their WCS but had to settle for a disappointing Raceface AM Atlas.
