Favorite Trail:Alpine Trail
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $290.00
Strengths:9" of adjustment - 3" was not enough. Easy to set maximum height. Less side to side play than Joplin. Seems like it will be easy to maintain myself - should be more reliable than Joplin.
Weaknesses:Binds a little when lowering if my weight is towards the back of the seat.
Seat clamp not great. I wish it were a straight seat clamp instead of the setback one.
Similar Products Used:Joplin, Maverick Speedball.
Bike Setup:Heckler with lotsa cool stuff.
Bottom Line:I don't think this is perfect yet, but it seems to be the best adjustable seatpost so far. I started with the Maverick Speedball, and once I went to an adjustable seatpost I could never go back to a static one.

Strengths:great idea
Weaknesses:seat clamp
Similar Products Used:joplin, gravity dropper, KSi900R,
Bike Setup:nomad
Bottom Line:When are manufactures going to put a decent seat clamp on these wonder full seat posts. PS The gravity dropper while not perfect at least does what it claims

Favorite Trail:Upper+Lower Death
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:Rase
Strengths:Reliable and easy to use.
9 inch means never using the QR - saves the
stress on carbon frames.
Easy cable routing and lever mount.
Weaknesses:Some side and/or up-down saddle
movement - saddle tip about 1/3 inch.
Slight difference between the two units.
Price!
Similar Products Used:Gravity Dropper
Bike Setup:2008 Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper
and 2009 S-Works EPIC. Both carbon frames
with stock parts.
Bottom Line:A must have for cross country and
all mountain rides.
Low seat mount means the saddle rails
drop down less than 2 inches from the
seat tube. Great for downhills.
On the Gravity Dropper it's over 3 inches.
Comes with the protective sleeve, don't pay
extra unless you want a spare.
The order form is confusing!

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $285.00
Strengths:Cable-actuated lever, twenty lockout intervals along nine inches of travel.
Weaknesses:Does not include optional seatpost cover.
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher HIFI Deluxe
Bottom Line:The RASE Black Mamba Adjustable Seatpost joins the distinguished group of dual suspension, hydraulic disc brakes, clipless pedals and tubeless tires as some of the most significant innovations to the sport of mountain biking. I no longer need to sacrifice leg extension due to compromised seat height as the RASE seatpost offers twenty lockout intervals along nine inches of travel, ensuring maximum leg extension in any riding condition. The ingenious cable-actuated lever mounts on the handle bar in tandem with the existing brake lever, enabling seamless index finger operation without jeopardizing my safety like other adjustable seatpost designs. The RASE seatpost adjusts on demand without delay or requiring weighting the seat to actuate the action. The RASE seatpost is available in four standard seatpost sizes which guarantees a secure and accurate fit while eliminating the need for shims. The RASE Black Mamba Adjustable Seatpost has been an invaluable investment in my form, efficiency and performance.

Purchased At:rasebike.com
Strengths:9-inch seatpost variance; rocket-proof and state-of-the-art design/engineering/quality.
Weaknesses:None. If I'd discover some then I'd help the RASE engineers to eliminate them from the product.

Bike Setup:Bionicon Supershuttle (www.bionicon.com) with Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 gear hub (www.rohloff.de). (All Mountain/Enduro setup)
Bottom Line:I like riding up and down under all conditions (dry, wet, mud, rocky, slow, fast, steep terrains etc.), therefore my MTB material has to be able to follow. On the other side, the time to maintain the MTB material has to be minimised (cf. Rohloff gear hub). While the Bionicon Supershuttle allows to adjust the bikes geometry on-the-fly (i.e from the handlebar button) for climbing/descending steepest trails, the RASE Black Mamba seatpost adds on-the-fly (i.e. from the handlebar remote lever) and total body & balancing freedom.
This engineering masterpiece was long-awaited i.o. to complete my current MTB setup.

Favorite Trail:Ellsworth Proving Grounds
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Purchased At:www.rasebike.com
Strengths:Range of adjustment= 9", quality of materials [7075 alum, beefy components - cable housing, cnc'd parts, levers, etc.], durable, adds confidence to my riding
Weaknesses:My "weight watcher" buddies are skeptical about the added weight. I say fooey. I will have the Rase on my bike during the next 24hr -- my legs and lungs will keep up the pace while I ride the fully extended post during the climbs; when the course turns downhill, all they will see is my back tire as I fly past with my instantly lowered seatpost. There is no way a fully-extended-post rider will be able to maintain my pace downhill.
Bike Setup:Ellsworth Moment [all mtn / freeride setup]
Bottom Line:I like riding up and flying down. I ride in an area with a ton of vertical change. I used to constantly stop and adjust. Last time I forgot to adjust down, I cased the lip on a double, my saddle rammed up my (_!_), I flew the bars, and I was out for 2 weeks.

I needed something that adjusted more than 2-4", and I wanted unlimited adjustments on the fly; only Rase offered these features. Simple to use and move from bike to bike [I have a full stable]. I cant think of a single other component that has such an impact on my riding experience.

Straight out of the box this thing looks great and feels durable [I am pretty meticulous when it comes to quality and craftsmanship]. Installation was simple. With this installed, my bike can now tackle anything the mountain throws at it without me having to dismount.
