    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:direct from raleigh
Strengths:This bike is easly the best out there for the money. componentry is great for how little money it is. everything is stout yet still light weight.
Weaknesses:brakes arn't so great i work at a shop so i up graded to hayes mechs. and coulden't be happier. The front end is a little short but easly fixed with a rise bar.
Similar Products Used:i work at a shop so ive tried tons of bikes. including a lot of 04 bikes that i tried at interbike 04' dirt demo.
    Bike Setup:stock with
hayes mech brakes, answer rise bars, suspension seat post, and other little goodies.
Bottom Line:this i easly the best bike for your buck. raleigh also has great customer service. the parts on this bike are top notch some of the best in the industry. great for every one from the hard core xc rider to the average joe trying to get into shape

    Favorite Trail:Westbranch State Park
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $880.00
    Purchased At:Century Cycles
Strengths:Strong, lightweight frame, disc brakes after they break in, good multipurpose tires, price.
Weaknesses:Allen key on seatpost makes mid-ride adjustments time comsuming. Front end seems ro float in high speed turns.
Bike Setup:Stock setup except for upgrading to a riser bar and a rock shox suspension seat post.
Bottom Line:I was looking for a bike that had a good component setup for a reasonable price, and the Lahar delivered. It was a tough decision between the lahar and a specialized rockhopper, but I went with the disc brakes on the lahar for the same price. The shifting is excellent, and the new rock shox pilot fork is holding up to my 235lbs. I don't think you'll find a bike with a better setup for the price.

    Favorite Trail:Walnut Creek
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $799.00
    Purchased At:Buck's Bikes
Strengths:The wheels are stout. Shimano mech disc brakes -after they break in, the power is pretty nice. The brakes are definitely better than I had expected.
Weaknesses:The strong wheels come at a price of hefty-weight. The pilot XC comes at 80mm stock. THE best upgrade I did to my fork was convert it to 100mm and upgrade the oil to 10wt. The frame geometry is much better this way too.
Bike Setup:I switched to a 1.5" handlebar. Converted the fork to 100mm. The rest of the bike is stock. Although I'm demoing some CrossMax XL wheels that are pretty decent. If I had an extra $600, I'd but a pair.
Bottom Line:I've been working in bike shops for a while. I was looking for a bike that was a pretty tough, decent frame & parts, and not spend a lot of $$$. I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase. Maybe the '04 model with have hydraulic brakes?

Strengths:Beefy lifetime frame, good component setup for the $, disks,
fairly light for Raleigh standards, affordable....Best bang for the buck I could find...

Bottom Line:I have only been out on it a handful of times....The thing is rock solid...I shopped around for a bike no more than $850 and this bike is absolutely the best deal I could find without having an inside deal...I plan on hanging onto this one...If any problems arise I will be sure to post them...I don't anticipate any.....yeeeehaaaa
