Their a great crankset for the price....go for use from XC to light freeride....burly enough to take big-ish drops yes light enough (for me anyway) to do XC...
ive needed a new crankset, and i wanted one that could handle my 210 pound gurth while still being stiff and not weight me down....i found the solution in the form of this crankset....the only thing is the bolt loosened on me once or twice....but i tightened it down more and its been good since.....

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE RACEFACE EVOLVE DH CRANKSET WITH AN EXTERNAL BOTTOM BRACKET. NOT ISIS SPLINED DRIVE.
This is an amazing crank set! I have put this thing through hell and back and it can take everything that I can dish out. I commonly take four foot drops on a hardtail and they don't budge! The bearings are amazing. Riding through creeks, rivers and in the rain and mud have not effected them in the slightest. This truly is an amazing crank set!!!

These cranks were great for the first 8 months of riding. It was my first time riding a Two-piece crankset and was, at first, very happy with my purchase. As time went by, I too became a victim of the always-loosening-right crank arm.
I tried it all; Locktite, glue, grease, plumbers tape, bees wax, w/e, but it continued to get loose. I will try and get these replaced.
They were ridden under the "normal riding conditions" that the Evolve DH can perform on. They were installed correctly with the correct amount of spacers for the 68mm bottom bracket shell. They started wobbling a little and got progressively worse.
From what i hear the Diabolus cranks undergo the same problem.

My roommate has the same crank. Both of ours have loosened up repeatedly and I lost the bolt cap on mine. The crank recently became noisy after loosening again. Bottom Line:
This review is for the conventional ISIS bottom bracket style crankset. I use my bike for regular trail riding and a little XC racing. I've found that these cranks are the only I've used that have zero flex. I weigh 215 lbs and test the limits of most cranks. These cranks feel solid, the arms are beefy I cannot imagine how X-type would be an improvement. They look and behave like a zero hype all function crank - you can't go wrong and the price is amazing if you can still find them.

'06 Specialized Pro Frame, MTX wheels, Sram 9.0, Juicy 7s, Truvativ hollzfeller stem, Fox dhx air 5.0, Fox 36 talas to sum it up. everything else stock.
Bottom Line:
I was lucky enough to find these at $150 with the external bb. External bbs are like the new hottness and this one is no different. It has a steel insert for the pedals which is key for hard riding. They have a small amount of flex. Bashguard that came with it was too skinny for me and small enough to let logs hit my chainguide so i put my E-13 back on.
My choices were these or the '06 Hussefelts with a howitzer BB and i chose this one because of the price, and since it handled Diablo Freeride Park, with the new drops, with no issues i'm happy. I recommend these to any all mountain riders or light duty freeriders.
