$45.00 | | Purchased At: | Chainlove | | Strengths: | Comfortable, good shin protection | | Weaknesses: | Terrible knee protection, upper knee area slides down in falls | | Similar Products Used: | Fox leg/knee pads (unsure of model), 661 Evo knee | | Bottom Line: | I've either had horrible luck, or these pads don't stay on very well in crashes. I find that the knee will slide down or not flex with your upper leg, so they leave your knee exposed during crashes. The shin pads are great and they're comfortable, but I've busted my knees up several times while wearing these pads due to the knee guard sliding down. I wouldn't recommend them. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$65.00 | | Strengths: | Protection | | Weaknesses: | Removes skin! | | Similar Products Used: | First set of pads. | | Bike Setup: | Niner FS | | Bottom Line: | I also find that these pads chafe badly. One ride is enough to wear the skin off my thigh unless I wear something underneath.
Also they slide down over the course of the ride. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$35.00 | | Purchased At: | Ebay | | Strengths: | Stays in place well while pedaling. Surprisingly comfortable when you must grind an uphill. Productworks in all weather conditions (a bit warm on hot days). | | Weaknesses: | Straps seems bit odd design wise but are holding up to date. | | Similar Products Used: | N/A First Set of leg armor | | Bike Setup: | Moment | | Bottom Line: | Great for the $35 price tag new. I feel like I can arrive on the scene of a shinning contest | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$80.00 | | Strengths: | Very good coverage, very strong | | Weaknesses: | Articulation is at the knee is very bad. Very good at chaffing your thighs | | Similar Products Used: | 661 Kyle Strait | | Bike Setup: | All mountain bike | | Bottom Line: | The designers of this pad need to go back to the drawing board. The shin area is good, but the knee area is too stiff (unless you dont bend your leg!) Also the area just above the knee is too short and and also chaffs your thighs as its constantly moving backwards and forwards due to bad design! I had to cut the bottom out of a pair of socks use them like leg warmers as is was unbearable.
Also dont think 3 straps is ness at the calf, 2 is just fine. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$100.00 | | Strengths: | fits good as long the straps are long enough, comfortable | | Weaknesses: | allergic material, seams are very weak and open easily and often, the straps are way too short for size L | | Similar Products Used: | Rockgardn Landing Zone Knee/ Shin Protectors | | Bottom Line: | The fit and comfort is really good, but only after some extra velcros have been fixed, because the straps are too short.
The material causes allergic reactions, my legs were full of red, hurting spots, this is unacceptable for protectors in this price region, so the armor gets the minimum rating. There are cheaper armors on the market that do not cause allergic reactions, for example the Rockgardn stuff! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$55.00 | | Purchased At: | JensonUSA | | Strengths: | Awsome fit, sits nice, non obstructive. I thought they would be huge compared to my size but they fit great. They stay right in place and with every fall ive had so far ive railed rocks right into the pads. the inserts keep the armour lines up so when you fall your knee cap is in the right spot. so far they have saved me. I also dont get eaten by the pedals | | Weaknesses: | HOT HOT HOT! but hey whats a little Sweat. | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | Kona Dawg with upgrades. CC/DH, Also use these on my Trial and dirt jump bike | | Bottom Line: | I'd recommend them and I will continue to wear them. for they money why not. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$70.00 | | Purchased At: | I cant remember | | Strengths: | Really solid, saved me alot of pain numerous times. good size (Large fit really well at 6ft tall) comfortable even when pedaling uphill. | | Weaknesses: | velcro doesnt reach on 3 of the straps | | Similar Products Used: | I used some fox racing ones that didnt cover my whole shin. | | Bike Setup: | rather not admit | | Bottom Line: | The velcro still sticks to the elastic well, but having more would make me happier, I plan on getting some more sown on. They still stay on when you crash and leave you mostly intact, they are super comfortable, and make you feel invincable. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$50.00 | | Purchased At: | Chainreactioncycles.com, on sale | | Strengths: | Rock solid, good fit, does not irritate skin | | Weaknesses: | elastics around calves waAAAY too short | | Similar Products Used: | BD telepads, inline pads, soccer pads | | Bike Setup: | Marin Wolf ridge set at 5.5" w RP3 rear, 36 Talas up front, homegrown Hope pro2`s on 719, Thomson, RF, Juicy7, SRAM | | Bottom Line: | Dunno wa ya ***Freeriders*** are all made of? Judged from the design of the Race Face / Roach Rally FR knee / shinguards it cannot be much more than skin, bones, and tendons. The male velcro ain`t nowhere near reaching the hairy female counterpart around my calves, so it spends its life rippin`up the elastic instead of gettin`cosy with its female partner. Lengthwise the fit of my medium is great(I´m 5"7` sub 160lb).
To get to the local GOOD STUFF ya kinda have to climb a couple of thousand feet before descending, so you tend to develop strong calves.. Maybe it`s made for all yer chopper transport and liftbased ridin`? | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Lancashire Date Reviewed: September 17, 2007 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | Blazzing Saddles | | Strengths: | Good fit, full leg cover down to your shin. lots of straps your going to need them! | | Weaknesses: | The stitching, straps fall off. Price | | Bike Setup: | Spec Big Hit 3 | | Bottom Line: | this is now the second set i have had, race face renew the 1st set due to the straps un-stitching and falling off. Now the 2nd set have lost a strap both sides and the knee cup on 1 side is un-stitching and coming away. its a real shame because the pads fit really well. for the cost i paid for them, i want better build quality. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$42.00 | | Purchased At: | price point | | Strengths: | these guards are pretty rad. they stay in place over pants and on bare leg. very tuff plastic guard. i have gotten tangled in my bike a few times and not gotten anything to complain about. pretty breathable | | Weaknesses: | the bottom strap seem a little too short. i have skinny legs and i never thought that would be possible, but they just do work. the knee has two straps that velcro across the top of knee. it is hard to get them tight because you can not overlap them. but is not so bad that i would give a bad review. | | Similar Products Used: | very chear shin guards | | Bike Setup: | Haro X7 and cannondale jekyll | | Bottom Line: | i would recommend these guards. they are pretty light weight and still beffy enough for my freeride falls. they fit pretty well but my bike shop does not stock freeride and downhill type guards so i wish i could try others on to compare. for the price they are pretty good. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
