    Favorite Trail:all of them
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $50.00
    Purchased At:performance
Strengths:This is a review for the Elite bibs.
Feels oh so good, comfort, $$$value, fabric and quality of workmanship. After my first spin with these I realized that they should be standard equipment on every bike. I'm a clydesdale (6'3" 240lbs) so the extra cushion on the bum is a godsend. After several lengthy spins in the saddle, no chaffing or soreness.
    Weaknesses:none so far
    Similar Products Used:none
    Bike Setup:wheels, seat, pedals...
Bottom Line:I had never worn lycra before, but after reading the reviews here I decided to try them. Save your bottom and family heritage, cycling does not have to equal a sore a** for days after you ride. That carbon seat post? That does not affect your comfort and happiness, these do! Go buy them and don't think twice. Ride happy.

    Favorite Trail:the next one
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $25.00
    Purchased At:performancebike.com
Strengths:comfort, no drooping, "second skin" fit, value for dollar
    Weaknesses:straps slip when not riding
    Similar Products Used:1st set
    Bike Setup:FSXC for all uses
Bottom Line:I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT TEN PAIR WHEN I BOUGHT THESE! there's no chamois-shift when riding hard, no belly-band at all, and my "jewelry" stays put better than standard shorts. They feel light on me, as opposed to shorts. the only thing i wish for is a higher back yoke so the shoulder straps wouldn't slip when i'm off the bike mid- or post-ride before getting home to change out.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Strengths:durable
    Weaknesses:going to the bathroom
Bottom Line:this review is for the performance century bib shorts with gel chamois. i'm a clydesdale mountain biker and i'm not ashamed to say i love bib shorts! i switched from my baggies to spandex shorts about 2 years ago...what a difference! then i got tired of the waistband on tight shorts. the bibs get rid of that goofy feeling and give you a comfortable ride. i'm a firm believer in the gel chamois. it may be too thick for some, but i need all the padding i can get. the chamois is perforated for better air flow. i buy all my clothes from performance now. cheap compared to other brands with probably all the performance. i know the top brands are probably a little bit better, but not for the extra $125+...especially if you're on a budget like me. they are also very durable. i ride in them 4-6 days a week and they have survived more than a few mild crashes on dirt.

    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $45.00
    Purchased At:performancebike.com
Strengths:Elastic chamois, supportive fabric, high cut bib top, price, performancebike.com policies
    Weaknesses:absolutely none
Similar Products Used:Performance Elite shorts, PI Microsensor, Cannondale Velocity Bibs
Bike Setup:Has a saddle to sit on while wearing shorts
Bottom Line:Review is for the 2004 Performance Ultra Bib Shorts. I felt compelled by the product to write a review so here it is - This is one of the best values on the market. The Cytec elastic chamois is the same (or nearly so) as in the Assos and De Marchi products at a fraction of the price. The fabric is supportive and holds its shape over the course of a ride. The bibs are cut high enough so there is no sagging around the waist. A top notch product that I would recommend to anyone.

    Favorite Trail:I could never commit
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $35.00
    Purchased At:Performance Bike Shop
Strengths:Great fit, material and workmanship. Coolmax fabric ROCKS. Pad design is excellent. Super bang for the buck!
    Weaknesses:None found
Similar Products Used:Performance Century shorts, and other Performance bibs.
Bike Setup:96 GT LTS-1. Full XT, Rock Shox Judy DH. Too good to give it up yet.
Bottom Line:This is for the Elite bibs which I found on a year end sale for $35 so I bought 2 pair.

I have been a huge fan of the Performance Century shorts for over 10 years. Once tried they were the only shorts I would buy. There may be better shorts available but for the money spent, the durability and the performance can't be matched. The same goes for the Elite products. They are a bargain at full price, matching the performance and durability of products costing much more, on sale they are simply an unbeatable value. Coolmax is a killer material and the pad design is very comfortable.

A word about bibs: With the popularity of baggy shorts and bashing the lycra wearers, it may be difficult to give bibs any honest consideration. What a shame if that happens to you. Until you try them you will have no idea how comfortable cycling shorts can be. Especially if you don't happen to posses a particularly "classic" physique.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $39.00

Strengths:Fit, comfort, quality. What more could you ask for?
    Weaknesses:None so far.
Similar Products Used:No bibs, only shorts used.
    Bike Setup:HardRock w/BG MTB saddle.
Bottom Line:This is for the Performance Elite Bibs. I've worn them 3 times and they are fantastic. Super comfortable, fit perfectly. I've only used shorts up to this point, but now I'll use these. These are the Elite model with the Y-chamois. I don't know why all bike clothing companies don't use this type of chamois. It's the most comfortable I've ever used out of 4 different brands of shorts I own. Got them on sale for $38.98. Five hot dogs for value and five for overall. These bibs rock!

Strengths:Good padding, nice slick feel on the saddle, and they stay up!
    Weaknesses:None yet
Similar Products Used:Old Patagonia Pursuit Shorts-I lost so much weight they would not stay up, and the pad was getting thin.
Bike Setup:Old Nishike road bike,Trek tandem, Spec Rockhopper
Bottom Line:Bibs are great-so more sagging shorts. For the price I don't think you can find a better deal. Only problem with bib design is getting them off to go to the bathroom-otherwise no complaints.

    Date Reviewed: May 25, 2000
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Strengths:durability
    Weaknesses:none apparent to date
Similar Products Used:cheap, regular cycling shorts
    Bike Setup:Trek, very old Trek
Bottom Line:This review is for the new elite bib shorts. I am very pleased to date with the fit and durability. Repeated wash/dry cycles have revealed no stitching problems. The new chamois design is extremely comfortable, and features an anti-microbial cover. The cool max lycra is a wonderful fabric, particularly on the bibs.

These shorts are billed as the shorts worn by the US national team. At 2 for $100, these shorts are a very good value. After years of wearing the cheapest shorts I could find, I could not be more pleased with this purchase.

Bottom Line:These are very comfortable to ride in. I like them a whole lot better than the traditional shorts. For around $50 they are hard to beat.

Bottom Line:Far more comfortable than regular shorts...whether you're in shape or not! I have 3 pairs, the oldest going on 6 years. Other than a couple of patched rips (not the shorts' fault), they're still going strong. On sale, they go for about about $40.

Bottom Line:For those of us that don't have that flat stomach any longer these things are the bomb. No more droopy crotch to catch on the seat, no more tight waistbands. Only had for a short time(1 race) but love them. Can't compare to other bib shorts, but these are much better than any regular shorts I've ever had.
