$25.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance | | Strengths: | Low price, practicality, well made, has all the basic features, does what it says it will do. Easy to read and operate. | | Weaknesses: | Quits in heavy rain, but then most computers do. | | Similar Products Used: | Cateye, Avocet. | | Bike Setup: | 5 Bikes, many disciplines, many setups. | | Bottom Line: | This review is for the older version- they came out with an updated model this year ('03) that I haven't tried yet. I have two of these and use them on all my bikes, I bought extra mounts that Performance sells for about 10 bucks. Another cool thing is that you can program it to use on 2 different wheel sizes so that going back and force from the mountain bike to the road bike isn't a problem. I've had NO problems with this computer and it performs as advertised. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Fremont, CA Date Reviewed: June 22, 2003 | | Favorite Trail: | Demonstration forest | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | 22 | | Strengths: | Functional computer. | | Weaknesses: | Only indicates miles in 0.5 mph increments | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized, Cateye | | Bike Setup: | Giant NRS1, full suspension, | | Bottom Line: | I had 2 of these. One died because the electroics fried themselves (indicated I was doing 112 mph). The other died in a natural death in an endo. I would not buy this again becuase the 2 I had didn't stay in the cradle well, one just quit on me (multiple resets and battery change didn't help) an d it only indicated 0.5 mph increments.
The specialized ones are OK but not as well made as the Cateye.
Cateye is a much better computer - very Japanese in that it indicates mph in 0.01 increments which is silly. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$25.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance | | Strengths: | Quality construction, waterproof, ease of use, price. Oh yea, and the auto start/stop is awsome! | | Weaknesses: | Not wireless (but it's a lot cheaper) | | Bike Setup: | '99 Trek 8000 SL, with '02 Manitou Mars Super | | Bottom Line: | The Axiom 8.0 does everything one would need it to do very well. I've only used it for 3 months now, but I have absolutely zero complaints. The ONLY reason someone shouldn't buy this computer is if they are looking for one that is under $25. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
