$7.00 | | Strengths: | Keeps your chain clean and lubed... for about 20 miles or so. | | Weaknesses: | It doesn't last. Period. It will damage your drivetrain. | | Similar Products Used: | Wax Lubricant (Finish Line), but I didn't know much about lubricants back then, so no comment. | | Bike Setup: | Irrelevant. | | Bottom Line: | This product is a joke. It's very good for keeping your chain clean, but that's what degreasers are for. I had high hopes for it, but ended up disappointed. I hear some people mix it with more durable lubes to achieve longevity, but I'm not about to become a chemist to keep my chain clean and lubed.
2.5 stars (Value) for keeping my chain clean.

Easy to apply. | | Weaknesses: | Not really long-lasting in mud To apply it properly, it should be left on the chain thick, for a few hours in the sun | | Similar Products Used: | I've tried most lubes | | Bike Setup: | Stock Trek Fuel EX 9.5 w/SRAM components and Shimano chain | | Bottom Line: | Not a bad lube at all, and really excellent if your chain isn't going to be spattered with mud and wet grit.

I have applied the product exactly as the label specifies to find a quite drive train for about 10 miles then chattering starts. It does do a decent job of cleaning but who wants to carry lube with them on 40-50 mile road rides? Not I! My chain has about 1000 miles on it and is worn out maybe due to lube that lasts about 20 minutes? I have used this stuff on my mountain bike and same results. I am just looking for something that will last at least one ride and keep my chain from wearing out. I am going to try pro link pro gold next and what happens. Stay away from this stuff because it just does not last. Also the label says the vapors are harmful....killing brain cells and killing chains...great product. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Works in all conditions, wet, dry, and in between. No waxy build up like other wax lubes. Affordable. | | Weaknesses: | Doesn't last really long (follow the directions and apply before each ride). | | Similar Products Used: | White Lightning, Pedro's Syn Lube, Finish Line Teflon | | Bike Setup: | Basically the standard Yeti ASR-SL Race Disc kit with two deviations (brakes and front tire). I've followed the advice and the printed directions and I've been happy with the performance. It definitely keeps my drive train cleaner than any other lube that I've used. It will wear quickly at times but has never left me high and dry during a ride. For the price, this is the best lube I have used and plan on continuing to use it. I've done teflon but it is just expensive and attracts more dirt. Not to mention, when it gets wet, you don't want teflon. Follow the directions and you'll be happy. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Seems like I haven't lubed the chain in months. Squeaks and make noise. | | Similar Products Used: | White Lightning. | | Bottom Line: | I would not recommend this product. I bought it because it was on sale and was recommended by a magazine. I figured it would be similar to the white lightning wax type product. I cleaned my chain and applied as recommended. While riding I noticed squeaks and other friction like noises that I had never heard before.
After using the product for several months I have concluded that it just doesn't last and is a poor lubricant. I have two full bottles and another that is mostly full that I will not be using. Going back to the white lightning, which I used before.
In short, it makes my chain sound and feel like it is dried out, not lubed and really dirty. I would not recommend it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I might try it on longer off-road rides but the reviews of folks who've used it for that will probably make me carry a small bottle of something else in my pack when I do... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

You must let it dry before you ride otherwise it became messy. (I usually apply it a night before the ride and it last more than two rides). The main advantage is that it drys out totally so it doesn't collect any dust. It also works as a degreaser for the chain. Anyway, it lubs as well as a graphite based grease, without the mess.

$8.00 | | Purchased At: | REI | | Bottom Line: | I followed the directions on the bottle word for word and am still extremely disappointed with this lubricant. After a very thorough cleaning of the chain and degreasing to clear off any old lubricants, I applied Pedro's Ice Wax. The bike actually sat for a couple of days before I rode it, so it had pleanty of time to setup. The first 5-10 miles of riding are great. The chain is extremely smooth and quiet in very sandy, dusty conditions. After that mileage, the wax seems to disappear from the chain and your bike squeals and doesn't seem to want to spin. Once the squealing starts, I put some Finish Line Dry on and the rest of my ride is problem free. I'm using the rest of this bottle and never buying it again. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Usually I'll ride in dry to damp conditions and usually I'll use the Syn lube. I thought I'd give the Ice wax a try and applied liberally to chain (used fingers to work into side plates, rollers, etc) and let sit overnight. Rode the next day in pretty nasty conditions as it had poured the day before: rode through mud/clay/sand/puddles; pretty bad for most of my group, we ALL had problems. Anyway, about half way through the 17 mile ride, I noticed my chain was rusting. Not much I could do at that point. When I got home and looked closely, the entire chain was rusted. Tossed the chain and bought a pc990 sram. I won't be using the ice wax again. It may work ok in dry conditions but is absolutely horrible in wet. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$8.00 | | Purchased At: | lbs | | Strengths: | Thicker consistency means no waste and easy application, good initial lubrication. | | Weaknesses: | Lasts only one or two rides, if conditions are dry. Thicker consistency means winter-time lubing is difficult at best. Absolutely no water resistance. | | Similar Products Used: | White Lightning, Finishline Krytech, Boeing, paraffin, Tri-Flow, ProLink Gold | | Bike Setup: | 116 Links with varying mated-tooth configurations. | | Bottom Line: | This stuff is crap.
It's better than most wet lubes for our dusty and sandy trails, but it's probably the worst lube I've ever used in 17 years of cycling. The label directions are accurate: "Reapply after each ride." They're not joking! Sometimes, you may even need to apply it DURING a ride.....which you had better plan on doing if there is high humidity or any sort of water on the trail.
At half the price, I'm not sure I'd buy the product again unless it were a choice of either that or WD-40. At the price I paid, I'm pissed at the lbs owner who told me what a great lube it was. Two bottles later, I learned that it's not smart to buy two of a new product before you know how it will work. lol. I do like the thick consistency, but the cruddy applicator tip oughta be scrapped for something better.
Pedro's, this product needs to be waxed from your line....really. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
