Strengths:Good lubricant, keeps my drivetrain clean, dry - no more annoying chain marks on my leg and shoes.
Weaknesses:Spout is clumbsy when applying in tight areas
Similar Products Used:Some generic household oil I got at Walgreens. Bad idea. While it did lubricate the parts, it also collected too much dirt and other muck bogging down the whole drivetrain
Bike Setup:99 Specialized Rockhopper A1 FS, Manitou TI FS fork,
Bottom Line:A dry lube was recommended by my LBS and I bought Pedro's. It's been good so far and is fine for for what I do, which is mainly city riding. Keeps the chain clean and derailleurs working smoothly.

    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Strengths:- Penetrates well
    - Has some chain cleaning quality
    - Lasts through long 2-3 hour rides
    - Keeps chain lubed with low resistance
    - Resists dust and dirt well for a wet lube
    - Doesn't need a lot of applying attention
Weaknesses:- Let it sit and dry for a few hours before riding
Similar Products Used:Pedros Ice Wax, Finish Line Krytek, Finish Line Teflon Plus
Bike Setup:Rocky Instinct with SRAM chain
Bottom Line:Finally, a lube that I can live with after 4 years of trying all sorts. If you wipe it off after applying, and let it dry for a few hours before riding, it stays nice and clean even in heavy dust. Keeps the chain moving with low resistance, which is important if you are a "spinner".

    Price Paid: $10.00
    Purchased At:local bike shop
    Strengths:It lubes your chain?
Weaknesses:It attracts dust very well. Allows large grease build-ups on your chain. Not very dry.
Similar Products Used:none of the other products I used dissapointed me like pedros
    Bike Setup:khs
Bottom Line:It works ok(the lubing part) but you wouldn't know it because its always building up grease. It only works for me for one ride and then I'm having to degrease my chain.
Unless you like clean grease and dirt build-ups on your chain and components, buy something else.

    Date Reviewed: July 8, 1999
    Duration Product Used:
    6 months
    Strengths:
lubricates well. Stays on in the wet. doesn't get the chain as mucked up as heavier lubes
    Weaknesses:
not as clean as waxes. Bottle is so hard that it's difficult to squeeze out the lube.
    Similar Products Used:
    all Pedros
    Triflow
    White Lightning and Race Day
    Krytech
    Bike Setup:
Klein HT with Speedgoat forx, USE seat post, SedisSachsSRAM chain
Bottom Line:This is the best overall lube because it lubricates extremely well in the dry and very well in the wet yet is not as dirt collecting as other wet lubes. I use Ice Wax in the dry season because it's easier to clean up and I rarely ride more than 3-4 hours at one time (the duration for Ice Wax). Once it starts raining again this winter, I'll switch back to Extra Dry because it works better and I have to clean the bike anyway. I guess I'll give it 5 flamers because it is the best lube (for me at any rate) but in fact, no lube is really worth more than 4 because they all have drawbacks. Lasts long or easy to clean: take your pick.

Bottom Line:Pedro's Extra Dry is the perfect all around stuff. I like different Pedro's Lubes for different condiions, Synlube ATB for Muddy and wet, Ice Wax for all conditions. Extra Dry works well for lubing cables, brakes, levers and derailluers. It's the all around stuff.

    Date Reviewed: January 6, 1999
    Bottom Line:

I used Pedro's Extra Dry for about 2 months (about 20 1-hr rides) as recommended by the dealer of my new Super-V and found I had to relube after every 2-3 rides or shifting into the granny ring would suck or slip off. Also, it does collect some dirt. Then I switched to ProLink chain lube. So far, I have about 8 hours of riding on the first lubing with ProLink and shifting is still smooth as silk. I got it instead of the other well known lubes because no one in these pages seemed to be very happy with any of them. ProLink may be the answer. For $20 I got three 6-oz bottles and a needle-like affair to lube cables, etc, which has really been handy. Give them a ring at 800-421-5823, 404-766-3990, or visit their web site at . Great stuff. Try it. As for Pedro's Extra Dry, 3 chilies 'cause it works OK but it should be better.

    Bottom Line:

This lube was recomended by my LBS. I bought it and use it about once every 10 rides. I dont really notice that much of a difference when I apply it. My chain gets dirty and I dont know if this stuff comes off when it gets wet. I never miss a shift or get chainsuck even when I havnt lubed for 2 weeks and it is raining and I have all Alivio components. This is an OK lube because I only have used dura lube and some castrol stuff. This is a bit cleaner also. 4 stars because it lubes but costs more than other stuff.

Boy there is alot of lubes out on the market now. But since I'm a Gram
shaver I had to get the 2 oz. bottle of Pedro's Extra Dry Lube. Anyways
this lube rocks. My shifting is a hundred times better and I also applied
some to my derailleurs and pedals. Now If Pedro could make a frickin lube
that removes the grime on my chain and also lube it I would be set.
4 firing chilies because it doesn't remove the grime

    Bottom Line:

Compared to the wet lube from Pedro's (and many other wet or dry lubes), this is a dream lube. It doesn't attract as much dirt as the wet lube, and it keeps the chain relatively quiet. But is does have to be applied to the chain before almost ever ride to keep the shifting performance up. The only good thing about the wet lube is that it can last for a couple of rides before you need to reapply...and the wet lube attracts dirt like a magnet with iron filings. But recently I upgrade to using the Pedro's Ice wax...and WOW does this lube work. It doesn't attract any dirt what so ever, I have to only apply it to the chain once every 3 or 4 rides, and the chain is constantly shifting well, with the smoothest movement. My chain has never been sop quiet. I never thought I could be impressed my a lube so much. I didn't think there would be much difference...but there is. GET PEDRO'S ICE WAX!!!!! All of the othere lubes are nothing compared to the ICE WAX. Maybe the Finish Line Kritech is comparable to the ICE WAX, but I haven't tried it. Anyway, Pedro's dry Lube is a waste compared to ICE WAX!!!!!

    Bottom Line:

This is the best dry lube that I have used (I've also used Finish Line and White Lightening). It runs smoothly, lasts better than the other dry lubes I tried, and doesn't gunk-up your drivetrain like wet lubes. I've ridden in both dry and wet conditions and it has performed well. The only drawback is that it takes a long time to dry. I've found that it is best to apply it the night before you ride. I consider that to be a worthwhile trade-off since I don't have to spend as much time cleaning my drivetrain as I did when using wet lubes.

This stuff is great! I tried it out for the first time yesturday. The conditions were a little wet. No big streams but several muddy sections. My chain came out with almost no grindies. It may be a pain to have to lube your chain after every ride instead of just putting on some lube when you head out. But I think that the effort will be worth it, it is for me.

I love this stuff, but I'm a drivetrain cleaning junkie. It does require reapplication, but it's worth it. I've found that it works really well for my clipless pedals, and I mean REALLY WELL. I like this stuff much more than white lightning and alot more than heavier lubes like the regular teflon Finish line stuff. As a famous man once said, five dead, burning horses.Word.

    Bottom Line:

OK, this stuff works better than the teflon Finish Line, but that's not saying much. For a dry lube, it works OK, but that's not saying much. Application must be extremely persistent, generous and well planned in order to in sure proper drying, which it needs. A touch of water renders it nonexistent, I don't like to even recall what a mudwater-ridden downhill in Washington state did to my drivetrain using this lube. In short, if you have relube intervals on a clipboard in your garage, a generous budget for buying the stuff in the quantities needed, never ride with less than a 24 hour notice and live in Las Vegas, this lube is perfect. What is a great lube? I'm still looking.

This stuff is pretty good but picks up a lot of dirt and debris making your chain look all dirty, but it runs real smooth and keeps that damn chain pretty quiet, quiet enough to hear your tires grinding against the street. Makings your friends dirty ol' chain sound much annoying .

This stuff is good. This is the only dry lube that lasts. I found that I had to
put on 2 or 3 coats to get a good base built up. And it takes at least 24 hours
for it to really dry. But once it's dry it stays clean. I don't do much wet
riding so I can't comment on that, but for dry conditions nothing beats it!

    Bottom Line:

This stuff is pretty good. I've tried a LOT of chainlubes (Pedro's Synlube, Pedro's ATB, Finish Line, Schwinn, and a few others) and this seems to work the best. The drivetrain is quieter, and it doesn't seem to pick up as much grit and dirt as other wetter chain lubes. I'm getting about 4-5 hours riding time before the chain needs a good cleaning (barring a really muddy ride, and quick wipe-downs/touch-ups between rides), so I'm pretty happy.

My bike's drivetrain only works right when it's lubed right. This stuff exceeded my expectations, working better than White Lightning and Sedis dry lubes, and Tri Flo. Perfect for So Cal conditions (10 months of dry per year). Great performance and it stays pretty clean.Ironically, Mobil One 10W50 (yes, motor oil) works about as well as Syn Lube ATB in wet conditions, and a $4 quart will last 'till you're too old to ride!

It works excellently in the dry and lasts about 4 hours before the next application. With all dry lubes it doesn't do that well in the wet. It's rather cheap and the bottle gives a drip at a time or a whole lot, depending on how you like to coat your chain.

I've been using Pedro's Extra Dry lube for a year and a half now. It works
great. My drive train stays clean and wear has not been an issue. I ride in
New England and from time to time the conditions can get pretty wet. The Extra
Dry works well in these conditions too. If it really gets wet, I add a coating
of the Pedro's Syn lube on top of the Extra Dry. It's a great combination.
