I don't slide around like i used to w/my old tires, i did not realize the difference it was going to make. i rode this past weekend @ Alafia River State Park(my local trail) and i was riding over roots and trails that i used to slide on which would cause me to come out of my clips quite a bit. now w/these tires i was not sliding, i was able to ride over most everything w/ease because i could stay clipped on and just go. you would have thought i was on a brand new bike that just cost me $4000+, but instead it was my same ole bike but w/brand new Panaracer DH tires. I know people talk about the extra weight being a factor, but i did not notice a difference at all w/the extra weight. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$26.00 | | Purchased At: | internet | | Strengths: | Godly on hard pack. Very easy to regain control if your tires slip. Also seems to shed mud real well. | | Weaknesses: | none, I see all this about weighing too much, if you cant deal with an extra pound or two, you need to quit mountain biking and take up cycling. | | Bike Setup: | trek fuel 80 03' | | Bottom Line: | I'm very happy with these tires, beats the hell outta my stock ones. On hardpack they are insane, slips on sand (what doesnt?), not the greatest on wet grass (found out the hard way and scored a broken wrist and finger) But the bottom line is these tires are the sh*t, handle extremely well on dirt/rock. I've gone threw quite a bit of mud and the moment you hit dry dirt the mud sheds off right away.

I would love to see a 24" version for my new bike though. Some might complain of the weight on the hills but the climbing tread makes up for it. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized Highrollers DH, WTB Raptors, WTB Mutano Raptor, Panaracer Fire XC, Panaracer Dart & Smoke, Nokian Gazz, Various Intense and Tiogas. | | Bike Setup: | These tires (2.35s) are on the F/R of a Schwinn Moab with Rhino Lite rims and various other DH specific components. I also have a Pana Fire FR 2.4 on the front of my Big Hit now. | | Bottom Line: | Great tires for the money and are way better than most of the more expensive tires as well. These tires hookup at high pressure better than most tires at low pressure. You can't beat this tread design. I've used them on loose dirt/sand, hardpack, wet logs, wet clay, and snow. They haven't let me down yet. You won't find a better tread design for freeride. Sweet. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | QBP | | Strengths: | traction, conering, braking, climbing, super tough sidewalls, deep tread... | | Weaknesses: | you dont get added performance w/o added weight but this is coming from my mainly XC background | | Similar Products Used: | IRC mythos XC, Specialized team master/team control, velociraptors | | Bike Setup: | marin attack trail pro w/custom parts | | Bottom Line: | Everything aside but the way the tire handles on the trail: This tire sticks to the ground where you need it, when you need it. Just pick a line and the tire follows, no questions asked. Climbs and corners in everything. Loose, hard pack, you name it this tire does it.
At 990g (at least thats what QBP lists them at) they're a little heavier than what im used to. This is definately felt on climbs where a 600g tire would get me up with ease. But that same tire would slip all over the place on the way down. This is not an XC racer's tire, nor is it an extreme DH tire. It just somehow manages to do everything inbetween. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

| | Similar Products Used: | IRC Kujo (Great), Nokian Gazza jr. (Even Better), Nokian Gazza dual (Perfect for XC), Maxxis High Roller (fast) | | Bike Setup: | Santa Cruz Super 8, white bros fork. | | Bottom Line: | I rode these on a rental bike in Mammoth and thought they were almost complete garbage. In loose conditions they couldn't hold a line at all and they brake poorly. Drifting is a little sketchy but manageable and they do have very good side walls. The weight was nice too. They might do better in the more hard packed terrain of Bass Lake where I usually ride but my experience in mammoth, which I consider my ultimate testing ground, has made me shy away from these. I have never been impressed with panaracer tires and these are no different. The also seem to wear fast. Trying different tire pressure didn't help at all and I ran them at everything from rock hard to 20 psi and they still couldn't cut it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$26.00 | | Purchased At: | Supergo | | Strengths: | Good traction, good rolling resistence, looks great, lasts a long time, lighter DH tire, decent overall strength. | | Weaknesses: | I wouldn't run these on a super-high speed downhill race. If red is not your color, it would be a weakness. | | Similar Products Used: | Pretty much all DH tires that are under 2.5" | | Bike Setup: | Cortina DHE-8 with all the trimmings. Intense SLX with all the trimmings...this is my XC ride. | | Bottom Line: | I can't believe people actually have negitive comments about the wieght for these tires. If you are one those riders who is concerned about wieght, what the hell you even considering a product that contain the letters DH! For folks like you, there are products clearly stated with the letters XC, probably in lower case letters to save that extra quarter of a gram for the paint. Anyways, back the to tires. Yeah, these are good. I've tried pretty much everything under the sun, and consider these a great practice/rec/trail downhill tire. But for serious racing or downhill at high speeds (over 40mph), I would go with something more beef and more solid. Other then that, can't beat these for the price vs. performance. Solid buy for anyone who actually knows how to ride and not complain about wieght. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

| | Bottom Line: | This is a follow-up to the one I did earlier. I took the tire up this weekend and it is awesome. I have never had so much traction before. I am still getting used to the new limits. There is a large switchback on the trail, and with my fire xc's, I could only enter at 20 mph and exit at 17mph, all the while the tires are sketchy and drifting. With the dh pro's, I can enter at 25 mph and exit at 21mph with stability. I can cut accross ruts through corners w/o a problem. When the tire does begin to drift, it is very stable and predictable. The only problem is the extra weight, which is definitely noticeable, but for the extra control and fun, the weight penalty is nothing. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
