    Favorite Trail:ah ha! thats telling!
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $2000.00
    Purchased At:jmc - brighton
Strengths:v. lightweight for a full sus plus plenty of travel. exc.handling characteristics plus able to do anything (minus big jumps) with this bike you feel like a world champion rider
Weaknesses:no decent bottle cage and dont bother buying the deore version upgrade to XT
Similar Products Used:marin riftzone, specialized fsr
Bike Setup:its all down to personal preference so why bother telling you
Bottom Line:I love it and its BRITISH! orange bikes will beat off all the opposition on that good `feel` you get when you start riding it. If you do some townwork it also works well with high gearing keeping you up with the roadies and for cycling out to your local trail. if you like your downhill and are fed up of having to lug a heavy bike up to the top afterwards then this bike does both equally well

Favorite Trail:Red Route @ Mabie Forest
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:5 inches of plush rear end travel combined with a superbly rigid swing arm and featherlight weight. It also has virtually indestructable powder coat paint in whatever colour you want from the Orange catalogue. Acres of mud clearance for the Scottish Summerdownpours without any where for the mud to catch, easily replaceable single pivots just keep on working and an uniterputed seat tube so when you want to catch air with out kickin ass just drop the post and hack it with the hardtails. This bike is as good and all round XC / freeride bike as I can think of and I've ridden plenty.
Weaknesses:Looks aren't to every ones taste and there isn't really a proper bottle cage mount, but go buy a Camelback.
Similar Products Used:Scott FX1,2,3 Scott G-Zero, Orange Patriot (just as good and stronger with it), Marins (well flexy and the travel just dissappears),Jamis Dakar (nice),Santa Cruz Heckler (v nice), Sugars and Giant half travel bikes ( whats the point???)
Bike Setup:Standard Deore with Pace EvoIII forks will be puting Hope XC 4 pots on when I get time,
Bottom Line:If I could have only one bike it would be coin tossing time between the Patriot , the Sub5 or the Mr XC.nothing else comes close.

    Date Reviewed: November 23, 1999
    Favorite Trail:
    The Fenceline, Berks
    Duration Product Used:
    6 months
    Strengths:
    VERY lightweight, 5Travel
    Weaknesses:
    flexy rear Brakes, SXcarbon forks
    Similar Products Used:
scott XC full susser, marin FRS
    Bike Setup:
XTR version, added flight-deck and bar-end shifters
Bottom Line:this bike is great!! a full 5 inches of plush rear travel, and a sub-22lb build weight. although the fisher sugar is lighter (21lbs???) this has a PROPER pivot, and 5 inches travel. the bike climbs superbly, and decends well, too. the only gripe i have is with the forks, which i cant get soft enough for my 10-stone self (even with new softer springs added). i will be buying some SID 100s, which will match the rear travel better. the other thing that bothers me is the amount of flex that the rear of the bike has when pulling the brake levers, and i cant put a booster on 'cos they crash against the seat-tube. otherwise a great all-round bike at a great wieght.
