Favorite Trail:the lookout
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:winstanleysbikes.co.
Strengths:this bike is almost flawless.
frame is mega strong, welds are good, geometery is sick, good componentry.
Weaknesses:bit heavy.
Similar Products Used:identiti dr jekyll/mr hyde. norco bigfoot/torrent/sasquatch.
Bike Setup:norco wolverine 07. marzocchi sus, truvativ cranks, sun ringle, kenda kinetics.
Bottom Line:this is actually for the norco wolverine.
i dont think there is much point in spending an extra £100 for the rival. the wolverine has the same frame and the components are a bit different e.g stem and bars are unbranded so basically on the rival your paying for brand names not the part.
right half the people on this site dont know what there on about so basically, its strong good components and can be used for anything however whether you get wolverine or rival the forks and wheels need to be upgraded.but i was amazed when i could find dj's easy on it as well as freeride and shore.i love it.
if you can buy it!!

Strengths:very good, strong frame you can easily upgrade it to a great level on a summer sales...very comfortable, safe easy ridin bike, best bike for the$!!!!-marz.fork,truvativ crank hayes discs, sun rims, kenda tires for 750$!Get it while they have `em in the nearest shop!!Other manufacturers dont offer this compilation of quality parts for the $
Weaknesses:hayes mx-2 disc brakes are not a quality product, alivio rear/shifters shift badly slow,xc crowd should run away from this bike:)
Bike Setup:marz.Z1 130 mm,avid bb7,x7 shifting,amoeba cockpit,moto raptor rear kinetics front,other stock
Bottom Line:I have my Norco for two and a half years now,and all I can say its the best bike for that price. No doubt about it!I use it for every day, every purpose riding, done 12500km on it since then,so i can say that this is one safe, comfortable and reliable bike.I changed hayes discs cause they have been producing unbelieveble noises no matter how much you try to set it up right, avid bb7 with 185mm rotors outperformes those hayes in every way!Same thing with shifting,i replaced alivio/acera with sram x7 group and the difference is huge, like you re riding with F1 gearbox. As I said, get this bike just for the frame, its heavy, beefy, but upgrade it and you ll get a great value freeride tractor!!Norco can i get some good discount on a new rampage :))))))

Weaknesses:Forks are xc but they still handle drops.

Bike Setup:stock except for DMR V8s. (i plan to moddify it a bit in the future)
Bottom Line:A great bike with a great frame. It can handle the occasional huck but if you are planing on freeride replace the forks and possibly rims. Strengths:Lasts long, Good leavers/shifters/calibers, Kinda cheap.
Weaknesses:Rims fold a bit easy, same with the disks. The shocks wear out but don't fall apart.
Similar Products Used:Norco Bush Pilot/Wolverine
Bike Setup:Axiom Bars, 8 speed, Axiom seat, Alex Rims, Stock shocks, Hayes 8" disks... 2005 Norco Rival
Bottom Line:Its a great bike for beginners, Also if you plan on keeping it for a while make sure you know how to fix little things. I take it downhill and really give er and it seems to be holding up. Although like and hard tale it keeps you from going to big. It takes dirt jumps nicely but as I mentioned the rims like to bend so try not to case. Recommended upgrades would be disks and rims, if you want to do bigger stuff then new forks would be nice too.

Strengths:The frame is very stiff, and feels good for a 220lb rider like me. The brakes are powerfull but rub a little, and nice mix of components for a bike this price. Love This Bike
Weaknesses:Came with MZ3 up front which for a heavy rider is a little soft, but fine for xc riding. Seat post was weak but is a cheap upgrade.
Similar Products Used:Kona, Iron Horse
Bike Setup:20" 2006 Norco Rival, added marzocchi dj3, double bracket seat post.
Bottom Line:Good bike for the money, my bike is a 06 model that came stock with mz3 fork, 07 has dj4 so that should solve the suspension problem up front. Would reccomend this bike to anyone who is a semi-agressive rider and loves the dirt jumps.

Strengths:Solid frame, nice and simple paint job, decent components for the sale price (bought it for $730..went for $900 regular price)
Weaknesses:Seat clamp is absolute crap.. couldn't get the seat to stop moving and it fell apart on only the second ride. cranks and bb, brakes, pedals, headset and fork which is not meant for freeriding. Sloppy welds.
Similar Products Used:Norco Sasquatch, Norco Manik, kona Scrap and Shread
Bike Setup:Easton dh stem and seat post, Hayes Mags, Hussefelt cranks and bb, Drop off comp, envy bash guard and chain tensioner, welgo big flats, sram drive
Bottom Line:This bike is awesome for ripin around the trails and a great bike to learn basic freeriding on, but which can also be upgraded later. As it comes stock its really not good for freeriding unless you are begining in it.

I actually bought this bike because i needed a decent hardtail for all mountain riding. I'm used to using my fs for dh/fr and never really considered riding a hardtail instead. But once i got this bike i loved how solid and capable it was. So i decided to upgrade it so i could use it as my shore ht. It needs a lot less maintenance and care compared to the bighit while its still quite a capable fr/dh bike. Buy one!

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $760.00
Purchased At:Hendry Cycles
Strengths:I just got the bike. but so far the frame feels strong, the welds are huge and it looks built to be abused. The bike is very light, some people say the 06 model is heavy but this is the 07 model and it's very light. Gear shifting is smoothe as high speed and it has comfortable seat. The tires are really grippy (i couldnt get them to slide no matter how hard i tried). the rims feel strong, the breaks are good and can make the bike stop very quickly at high speed. The suspension is ok and easy to bounce around on.
Weaknesses:The suspension feels very soft and I think it would bottom on anything big, which I wont be doing for a while so they will be good for now. The front derailer make some noise when shifting. The grips are a little hard and uncomfortable. Also the warning stickers are really hard to peel off - it took me like 10 minutes.... Only minor problems, this is a great bike
Similar Products Used:Giant Rincon, Norco Sasquatch. (didn't ride either of these bikes for long just had a feel)
Bike Setup:Stock. The parts itcomes with seem fine.
Bottom Line:I have only had the bike for a day and it is my first "real" bike. I am only beginning in the sport and I can tell this bike will serve me well and I can tell that it can take alot more. This bike is great for anyone that wants to get into freeriding and still want it to hold up when they get better. This is a great bike and great value. (its worth 2500 i u add al lthe part prices together). I payed in Australian money so it's probably about 700 US.

Favorite Trail:Stephens Coyote Ridge
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $375.00
Purchased At:Used
Strengths:Good Entry level bike that more than serves it's purpose. As a cross country rider that climbs steeps and returns down them the bike climbs well and while there are better mechanicals out there I can modulate the brake without being a downhill brake-dragger. Where the wheel does lock up the ground is loose and not fault of braking system. Uphill shifting is reasonably crisp. Bike is well balanced, and I find weight to be light.
Weaknesses:Front fork needs to be upgraded for better response and more consistent feel of earth to tire contact on rough ground.
Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:Remember this is an entry level bike. I am not a young 120 pound kid so the 8" brakes are nice for the extra stopping power. Bike has been reliable and not let me down. Remember I am not a true DH or DJ rider so in the cross country aspect of riding this bike does what I ask it to. This is for the entry level rider who doesn't want to put out a lot of money for a bike that is trail ready. It is not a DJ or DH bike and if you do not consistently use it that way you will be very happy with it. Some may look down on this bike because it is not a top end model but you get more than you pay for. Buy it to learn on and see if you enjoy the sport, or like I did to keep up to my kid.
