Strengths:From riding off curbs to staircases I never feel it on this bike. Im riding the 2002 model and whether or not all downhill bikes are like this, it feels like landing on air.
Weaknesses:The 2002 model has a hollow frame although it makes it lighter, it makes it very noisy.
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:Marzochhi bomber 160mm, kevlar lined hydraulic 8.8 disks,44:10
Bottom Line:Ive only had the bike 2 days and although ive already popped the front tire, this bike can take a beating. I haven't taken it downhilling yet but i have a feeling this bike can take it. I went off an 8 set stair case today, the only way i knew i had gone off a staircase was the fact i was at the bottom, its the smoothest riding bike ive been on yet. It doesnt matter what you use this bike for cause it can do anything

Strengths:F.Y.I. THIS IS REVIEW FOR VPS SAVAGE BECAUSE THERE SEEMED TO BE NOTHING ON THE MTBR WEBSITE AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE HELPFUL

first want to mention the upgrades which are the strenghts
-marzocchi 66rc awesome feel
-hope m6 3 pot discs, superb lever feel nd stopping power
other stuff
-rear shock, very nice and adjustable
-looks nice ;) but that depends on the person
Weaknesses:hmmmmmmm a >>LITTLE<< bit on the heavy side

bikes like these are usually much heavier so dnt be put off by this
Similar Products Used:first real bike
Bike Setup:norco savage= marzochi 66rc, hope m6, yeti grips, manitou metel shock, kenda tires
Bottom Line:if you buy one of ebay or second hand, just do it because the awful kingpins forks and mechanical brakes would be gone which are the only weaknesses on the new bike. if u were to buy it new, have new forks ready, but going for 2nd hand 1 nd its upgraded BUY IT NOW U FOOL!!!!!

Strengths:Very durable bike. Has a great beefy look to it, and is strong. Good Fork and half decent rear shock.
Weaknesses:The grips, pedals and seat.
Bike Setup:Norco Atomik with OURY grips(red)and red bar end caps, red Atomlab Trailking pedals, changed the front cranks to single speed, and the rest is stock.
Bottom Line:Get this bike if you are a downhiller or a freerider. Either way this bike with take the pounding you give it. Don't over look this bike if you want a downhill/freeride bike. I think the 2004 looks really good because I like the beefy strong look, but the 05, 06, 07, and 08 are very good bikes too.

Strengths:Frame is very strong, the front rim, in 4 years have never had to true it, solid bike
Weaknesses:Grip shift it came with, Junior T's sold them off, back rim, snapped many spokes before upgrading, and the shock clearance hard to find an upgrade shock for it!

Bottom Line:I ride medium probably too big for it too, but it has done me well for 4 years now, quite surprised nothing more has broken on it, takes everything and anything i throw at this bike, the colours are good, ive been happy for 4 whole years on this bike! excellent older frreeride bike for people who can't afford brand spankin new!

Strengths:fairly plush, pretty light, nice frame accents.
Weaknesses:the 2008 boxxer race fork has no o-ring under the bottom right lower rebound adjustment bolt, causing oil/grease to leak out.
strange. hopefully not all the 08 boxxer races have this problem.

Bottom Line:I have not ridden the bike much nor down a hill so I will update the review when I do, just wanted to warm people to make sure there is an o-ring under the bolt, also pull out the red rebound adjustment knob because it can fall out when riding. just keep it in a tool box.

Weaknesses:the fu*king grips why the hell doesn't norco change them i have huge gashes in my hands from riding with gloves!!!The drop off triple is just crappy it's just low end marzzocchi i would rather have the manitou kingpin and don't get me started on the air shock it's weak as hell the manitou coil shock is superior to the cheap fox vanilla!!

Favorite Trail:JC
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1700.00
Purchased At:Fat Tire Farm
Strengths:Does what is was designed to do. Having 6-7 inches doesn't mean that you can do huge drops. It rides the whole mountain fairly well and makes your downhill like riding on marshmallows.
Weaknesses:Seat Post Placement and Angle : The seat post will hit on the upper link-cross-over if it protrudes ANY amount from the bottom of the seat stay.
Fork : Marzocchi Drop Off is loud.
Components : Generic Components used.
Similar Products Used:GT Ruckus 2.0 / Kona Stinky / Yeti ASX / Giant AC
Bike Setup:Stock / Marzocchi Drop Off / 646
Bottom Line:With the seat post placement and angle with way it is doesn't allow you to ride fully extended for climbing, and then drop the seat down for downhill. The seat post will hit on the upper link cross over if it protrudes ANY amount from the bottom of the seat stay. Cutting the seat post to a compromise is the only solution, but you can only have about 3 inches of movement. Form me, I ride the whole mountain and need to have the ability to move the seat 10 inches or so. Therefore, the Stinky may have been a better choice for me. My solution will be to have two seat posts cut to two different compromises. Shorter for the more downhill ride, and longer for the cross country ride.
The components are what they are (you get what you pay for). So, as the break or wear out, I'll put the good stuff on.

Weaknesses:front derailleur shifter. grip shift sucks! But, really when you think about it, it's only 2 chain rings so what the hell. Strengths:Extremely strong frame. Takes a good beating considering i am 200 pounds.
Weaknesses:Wheels sucked so I replaced them with 26' sun rim doubletracks. Chain rings and bashguard were crap. Upgraded to enclosed E13 chainguide with E13 downhill ring. Frame geometry isnt to great. The seat is way to high and too close to the bars. I always hit my knees off the crowns. Not a big fan of the vanilla r and junior t. Since I'm a bigger guy I would like to see a 888 and a fox rc or something along those lines. Grips and twist shift sucked. Pedals are amazingly crap. They broke and when i wanted to change them i found out that the hussefelt cranks have a problem. The inserts in the cranks comes out with the pedal and truvativ wont warrant the cranks or send replacement inserts. Therefore I have to drill out the pedals t change them and if it doesnt work i have to purchace new cranks. Seat rides up in the ass too much. Tires are no good.

Weaknesses:Manfacturer defect on my tire. The rubber and wires of the tire separated and pinched the inner tube causing a big BANG sound (While I was walking it...pretty sad eh!) Bike store replaced it. The bike is very bouncy going over big rocks when heading uphill, but this maybe normal. I'll learn to manoeuvre over them with practice.

Strengths:This is a recap of my review above. I guess it wasn't fair to review the bike without putting it threw some extreme dh and urban assult. But here is my new statement

The frame is bomb proof and my review about that is still good. Rear Fox suspention is holding up very well. Breaks are fantasic. Some people have said the pedals are crap and to change them but I think they are doing just fine. They have taken some huge hits with my fat butt droping to flat from 5 or so feet so keep the pedals
Weaknesses:Front derailer shifter sucks ballz. Its a grip shift and is very touchy when you are riding on some really bumppy trails or going down some steps. I ALWAYS have to reset the chain back to where I had it. Jr t's are ok but for a someone my weight ( 220 lbs ) they suck in a major way. After a good hard city ride last night, taking a few flights of stairs and doing some gaps I came to notice that the jr t's are now toping out and making a WHOLE lot of noise. Not that this is a weakness but the frame is super loud. Riding a bumpy trail sounds like you are rolling down the hill in a train. Every tick bump and squeek is amplified by 10. The grips suck and ware out way to fast. I have had the bike for 3 weeks and they are already in need of replacement.
Similar Products Used:Kona stinky and some other norcos
Bike Setup:Basicaly stock other then some little add-on.
Bottom Line:Ok here is what I am going to do. B1tch and cry to Norco about my forks toping out before I add a thicker oil and put a bigger spring.
I am taking the front derailer off and adding a second bash gaurd and chain guide because the front derailer is useless unless your lazy. and taking the grip shift off completely and am changing the grips all together.
As for the frame making everything louder I will speak to Norco to see if I can add some expanding foam to the insode of the frame so keep me from hearing all the stupid little sounds that just drive me nuts.

All in all its a good bike BUT I should have spent abit more money on the A line with the 888's.

If it would just stop making so much damn noise and take some abuse without getting all loud its would be a sweet bike. It should have come with 888'S. And no front gears. Blah thats it for now. Buy the a line or save more for the shore

Strengths:almost everything, the atomik shield is the best and also unbreakable, i think its the most strong frame that ever built for norco atomik , the front junior T is great also , i do think norco should put in this bike some better shifters or something like that but i think its the best bike in this price for the downhill freerider man
Weaknesses:rear shock Vanila R 6 Inch, i dont think is the best but i can andle it , another thing is the shifters , i andle with the Simano deore rear shifter but i would like to have something more strong ,expect for that , the bike is totally great
Similar Products Used:specialized big hit , kona stinky and all same in the same price
Bike Setup:for now stock....
Bottom Line:the bike is great, i storngly recomand , i rode it like 3 weeks+ and the bike for now andle everyhing i put them throght (for now like 2 meters jumps and drops ) the bottom line is that this bike is good for almost everything and i hope that eveybody who bought this bike feels like me

Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:Impala Bike's
Strengths:The frame is definatly the strongest part that comes with this bike. its a beastly bike, so you dont need to worry about breaking it. the fork on the bike kicks, for that price it is definatly worth the money
Weaknesses:there is only two things bad about the bike when you first get it. the pedals, and the springs that come stock with the bike. the pedals hove no grip what so ever, and the springs are only meant for people who are aroung 150 pounds, which is pretty soft if you ask me.
Similar Products Used:Rocky mountain switch, kona stinky
Bike Setup:all stock, but soon getting new springs, new rear shock, new pedals, and a new front THE fender.
Bottom Line:this bike definatly kicks, if you are a downhill freerider, this bike is definatly great for the price. i suggest for anyone to pick one u p whenever you get a chance

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1999.00
Purchased At:Cycle Solutions
Strengths:Very strong frame, 8" disk breaks is a nice add-on as well with the Jr-t's, rides great in the city and kicks ass on the dirt or mud
Weaknesses:Because the disk breaks are 8" and the frame is so large every little sound is heard throughout. The Seat SUCKS. Norco should have put a DH seat on the bike. After 5 mins of riding my ass started to hurt in a big way.
Similar Products Used:02 Specialized big hit, 04 Stinky
Bike Setup:Stock for now. Its 4 days old. But I don't think I would change to much other then the Seat ond the pedals.
Bottom Line:The bike rides nice on and off road. Bumps are gone over like they were never even there. I hate the seat like I said and norco made a mistake by adding this to the bikes setup. I don't have much to say about the bike otehr then its very loud and the disk breaks like to vidrate and make stupid sounds.
For the price you can't get any better, the Kona stinky is on the same lines as The Atomic but because I have now riden both and the Stinky *STINKS* I have not yet seen a broken Atomic but I have seen at least 3 stinky's with busted frames.

Purchased At:John Henry
Strengths:GREAT PRICE!! That would be number one. also, i am, by my standards a not too expierenced rider, and this bike makes me feel really confident. The Jr. T is a sweet shock, but i need a little thicker oil. The bike is super strong, and of course looks great. This bile is one hell of a step up from my old bike. Jumps, and Drops are so smooth. all in all, great bike.
Weaknesses:One hell of a drag uphill, and not having a compression setting on the back spring is kinda crappy. other than that, love it.
Similar Products Used:Demo'ed a Specialized Big Hit, Norco 6 and a Brodie Diablo.
Bike Setup:Stock.
Bottom Line:Sweet bike for me, the intermediate to beginner X country to downhill rider. Looks big and burly looking at it, feels like a Marshmallow riding it. if you are looking for a great bike for great value, don't overlook this bad boy.
