Bottom Line:Great bike for whatever you wanna do i've been getting 5-6 ft of air out of it and hasn't bottomed out yet. I understand it was first a shore bike but mine has components to make it look like a downhill and feel like a downhill. haven't had a chance to take it downhilling yet but hopefully soon. Bottom line:great bike when upgraded even better so if you find one at a good price buy, buy now. Though thee is one minor thing Cross countriers stay away

Bike Setup:same as turbo turban's below.
Bottom Line:this is a great frame. freeride all u want with it. goddamn heavy but cmon, i aint got no shaved legs. buy this bike if u have hairy legs like us.

Strengths:super solid bike! takes 4-5 footers with ease! monocoque frame has a nice resonating sound! bottom bracket clearance is perfect in tight, technical chutes filled with rocks, roots and ruts! handles urban riding pretty well too! stairs, gaps, drops and pesky pedestrians are minor problems!
Weaknesses:none! NORCO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT WEAKNESS MEANS!!!!!
Similar Products Used:rode hardtail before! tried a super 8, bullit, intense m1, ellsworth dare

NORCO KICKS A**!!! if you are a freeride who doesnt mind a little extra weight in exchange of outstanding performance, then buy a VPS2! if you're a cross country rider...forget it!!!

Submitted by Roger Audziss (Im backkkk!) a Downhiller from Carleton, Quebec, Canada
    Date Reviewed: May 16, 2002
    Favorite Trail:anywhere
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Price Paid: $4000.00
    Purchased At:extreme bike shop
Strengths:everything!! I have decided to review it after changing most parts again, and the bike still rules! The paint job, the thick frame, the strength...still holding up!
Weaknesses:like I mentioned before, broke the stem, but its no fault of the bike
Similar Products Used:VPS Team DH, VPS4, Foes DHS tube
Bike Setup:VPS2 with super T(dirt jumper stickers are nice), Axiom chain guide, Hayes purple discs, all XT components, MODO wheel stes(awesome), Maxxis highrollers, Easton bars, and Race face turbine cranks with vuelta 42t chain ring.
Bottom Line:this bike rules, simple as that! had a Foes F1 Wet One, but the crown idea sucked...had to get rid of it because the lower crown hit the down-tube. The Super tracks nicely and is there when you need strength and plushness. The brakes rule over anything else, because they stop you when they are wet even!! THe MODO rims didnt even dent when I landed a 10-footer on concrete with a flat...the tires track anything and everything...so well that they even pull me up on ruts and berms...frame will not flex, fox shock is smooth, and race face does not know the meaning of FLEX!! buy the bike even if its old and scratched, cause you will not break it!! if you upgrade it like me, it will be even better!

Bottom Line:This bike was born and bred in the north shore and will laugh at the hardest of trails, no drop is too big, anything is possible when this bike is set up right. If you can get a hold of one, do it, you wont regret it. Norco rules!

Bottom Line:This bike is the $hit, takes the jumps/drops/rocks/beatings/poundings wellll anything I throw at it. My first good bike and I think i will stick with the norco bikes becasue they r better then all of the other companies and don't cost as much (cough **Kona**)

    Favorite Trail:anywhere downhill!
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $2000.00
    Purchased At:Extreme Bike Shop
Strengths:VERY STIFF! Excellent parts selection, awesome, plush front and rear travel, thanks to the z1 fork, and fox shock. grippy tires, bulletproof wheels, and the best brakes money can buy!!! I didnt have to upgrade anything, because the bike gave me everything I wanted in a bike!!!
Weaknesses:the bike is almost perfect, but...I already busted the stem, and the bushings in the rear shock are already worn, making an annoying creak noise every time it moves, and a clunk sound everytime I take a jump, or land a drop-off. Bearings all out would be MUCH better.
Similar Products Used:2001 Norco VPS Team DH, 2000 Norco VPS 4, Foes F1 DH
Bike Setup:2000 Norco VPS-2, with Marzocchi Bomber z1 QR20, Hayes Hydraulic Discs, Fox Vanilla R shock, THE fender, Shimano XT all around, Race Face Turbine LP cranks, Easton EA50 bar...basically, the bike remained the same.
Bottom Line:The bike is awesome, and keeps its trail on all sorts of terrain. Just for all those weight conscious people...NOT FOR CROSS COUNTRY, so dont judge it on its weight of 30 pounds (still not bad for a DH bike). When you pedal, the rear suspension bobs unlike anything else...if you ride on flat, or uphill surfaces a lot, the bike is not for you! The brakes are the best I ever tried! Better than Grimecahs, or shimanos. The only problem is that they honk a lot under any kind of pressure! The Rokko tires are grippy, but sent me over the bars from going in puddles a foor deep with sloshy, thick mud at the bottom. But basically, the bike is highly recommended for DH, freeriding, or North Shore riding. Its a great bike!

    Favorite Trail:Quarry Park
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $2000.00
    Purchased At:Used
Strengths:Canadian made so you know its good.Very stiff yet very plush rear suspension.Takes drops with ease yet can climp also.
Weaknesses:Saddle seems high even when seat is lowered all the way. Also only 5 inches of rear travel but thats getting fixed with VPS 1 link plates & longer stroke Fox shock.
Similar Products Used:None really because everything else I have tried sucks compared to this.
    Bike Setup:00 VPS 2,White Brothers DH2,Sun DW,Intense WC 2.5s,Raceface NorthShore cranks,Blackspire chainguide
Bottom Line:I also wanted a Norco VPS series bike & I am glad I bought one. This bike makes you feel like Superman at times. Also the black with red Canadian maple leaf graffics rule.If you can find one buy it.
