Date Reviewed: August 10, 2004
Favorite Trail:River Valley singletrack
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $650.00
Purchased At:United Cycle
Strengths:Good fork, Deore rear, awesome tires grip to everything, nice sturdy 7005 Aluminum frame. Brakes work pretty well
Weaknesses:I replaced Acera front with deore, and the rims are slighty bent after XC riding. No big drops or anything. Disk ready frame and fork, just not disk ready wheels.
Similar Products Used:Kona Fire Mountain, Trek 4500, Gary Fisher Wahoo, Jamis Cross Country, Specialized Hardrock
Bike Setup:Stock except for Deore front Derailleur, Toe clips
Bottom Line:This bike is great value, you get the EXR comp fork as most similarly price models have Judy TT. Very good bike for beg-intermediate XC and the tires grip to everything and are also not bad for commuting. Brakes work pretty well for entry level brakes. Fork Never bottoms out, but just for wet August in Alberta, disk ready hubs would be nice, but I guess you can't ask for too much. Only 4 Chilis because the derailleur gave out after only a year and the rims are a little bent even though I haven't gone off any big drops.

Price Paid: $550.00
Purchased At:rocky cycle newton
Strengths:good geometry came with a marz comp shock and 6 inch discs front and back good for 750$ cdn also it is very light
awesome for uphill not like a full suspension pig
Weaknesses:pedals suck and seat too thin but those will soon be replaced
Similar Products Used:i have riden a few norco vps bikes
Bike Setup:stock but the shop set it up good
Bottom Line:full suspensions are awesome for downhill but this is better all around i can do minor downhill and i won't have a heart attack taking it around town.
so if you are a weekender or want to do dirt jumping this is a good bike to take a look at.

Submitted by Dave Beggs a Cross Country Rider from Edinburgh, Scotland
Date Reviewed: February 20, 2004
Favorite Trail:Glentress
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:Alpine Bikes
Strengths:Great frame and handling, good components (apart from BB) for money. Have used this on various XC courses and never had any probs. Great for intermediate (Red route!) riders.
Weaknesses:BB gave in after a few months - replaced with new XT BB and its the dogs bollocks. Not for serious jumps etc.
Similar Products Used:Various low end MB, this is my first "real" MB.
Bike Setup:Standard with new XT BB and clipless pedals.
Bottom Line:Only thing it is missing is disc brakes. I have upgraded BB and pedals. Will maybe upgrade to disc (I live inScotland, the weather aint great for V-Brakes here) Brakes in near future. Not disc ready hubs though. For the money (I got this for £300) it is an excellent bike. Great for intermediate (Red route!) riders.

Date Reviewed: January 11, 2004
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $550.00
Purchased At:cycle solutions
Strengths:all round good performer. nice on uphills especially. Kenda tires are frickin awesome on the trails! Nice on the road too.
Weaknesses:for the price, none. just a wish list of disc brakes, air shock, clipless pedals, better components etc. i.e. i wish i could afford a more expensive bike.
Similar Products Used:other norcos, gary fisher, kona
Bike Setup:stock
Bottom Line:real good bang for the buck. i've ridden (and crashed) on all kinds of trails and always felt comfortable. bike geometry is pretty good. For those who want to ride on all types of trails with confidence and can't afford disc brakes or fancy shocks.

Submitted by Billy Kelly a Cross Country Rider from Canda, New Brunswick
Date Reviewed: April 20, 2003
Favorite Trail:Deadman Leap
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $850.00
Purchased At:Darlings Island Bike Shop
Strengths:Great bike, awesome for Cross Country and the deadly trails. Can take a big beating to a point, i wouldn't do any crazy stuff on this bike, like hucking off a roof. But the Norco Storm can hug to the trails very nicely.
Weaknesses:Very hard to ride on the single track trails, (it seems that you are always fighting with the bike to keep it on track)makes up for that lack by being a rocket on the down hills, and the uphills of XC.
Similar Products Used:Norco Charger
Bike Setup:2002 Juddy TT's. Deore, Aivid Brakes. Sun Rims.
Bottom Line:This bike is a great deal if you are looking at Starting XC, or you want a good bike to beat around the place on the weekends. Wouldn't recommend it for anyone that is a hardcore XC person. Overall this bike is a kick ass bike.

Bottom Line:It is good for downhill XC and single track
but no big 20 foot drops
It is a very good bike for the none extremeist that like to have fun but nothing to kill themselves
