    Favorite Trail:Ledgeview, Sumas, Bear
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $600.00
    Purchased At:Private Sale
Strengths:Solid construction, strong wheels, excellent (no hassle) 8" disk brakes, rear suspension can be locked out for heading up the mountain.
Weaknesses:With the over sized tires and fork upgrade I found the bike a little on the heavy side when I first started riding DH, now it's a none issue.
    Similar Products Used:2002 Kona Stinky
Bike Setup:Mostly stock except for the front fork, has jr.T front fork 7" of travel!!!
Bottom Line:If you are buying used then check out this bike, you wont be disappointed! Excellent first DH bike!
This bike will roll over anything.

Strengths:I have had this bike close to two years now and it is still a good bang for the buck. Not too heavy for climbing and can handle quite a bit of abuse. Good stopping power for anything downhill.
Weaknesses:More suspension travel would be nice when you are riding anything like the NorthShore. I have found that the stock Kenda Stick E's do not inspire confidence in anything other then hardpack.
    Similar Products Used:Specialized FSR
Bike Setup:Basically Stock but I have upgraded the tires to Syrcros BHT-1 and increased the tire size from 2.35 to 2.5. These tires rock!!
Bottom Line:Great first full suspension bike for the money.

Strengths:For a bigger bike like this it is not insanely heavy and you can do some climbing with this bike. Rear suspension allows you to somewhat lock out the travel while climbing. All of the components seem to be rugged enough to take a bit of a beating.
Weaknesses:Would be nice to have more suspension travel but other then that none that I can see.
    Similar Products Used:Specialized FSR,
    Bike Setup:Stock.
Bottom Line:Lots of bang for your buck. I have only owned this bike for a month but from what little saddle time I have had this bike inspires confedence to try just about anything. I will submit another requiew once the weather clears up and I have had some more riding time.

    Strengths:durability, cool army green color.
Weaknesses:less travel adjustability, head tube slacked out after increase in fork travel.
    Similar Products Used:jamis xlt
Bike Setup:7" Jr T qr20, Mavic 219 wheels, everything else pretty much stock
Bottom Line:I bought this as frame only. Good bike for the money, same bullitproof frame as A-line, Launch, and Drop. Change out link plates and add a longer shock to get more travel, otherwise you're left with super slow steering and frequent wash-out.

Weaknesses:i have not really had any...maybe dj3 because only 130mm(but it has been great) , but other than that it has been outstanding
    Bike Setup:standard
Bottom Line:i am 185lb and 6ft1 and i have had not had any problems doing 12 ft drops it has taken everything i can throw at it. it is a really good bike for any rider on a budget, because most of you out there like me are not made of money

Strengths:the frame is light for a freeride bike, looks like a tank, great price, excelent durability. enstills confidance. suspension is good but 5.2" of rear travel isn't going to cut it as i gain experience.
Weaknesses:the single tracks are somewhat easy to warp over time and repeated drops.
the chain had a defective link, which is suprising from Sram, but was fixed by putting in another master link.

the stock dj3's don't cut it, upgrade imediately.

was harder to do a bunny hop, but that's what you get with a dualie.

the brakes didn't have enough fluid when recived.

easy fixes mostly, but were a pain in the ass

Bike Setup:not much diffrent but a bunch of new junk on the fork and new tires/tubes and a mag on the front

Strengths:Made in Canada! Norco has a great warranty and customer service, I snapped a 2002 Atomik frame and got this one for free, I live by the factory. The Hayes Hydros hold up pretty good, as does the frame. Looks sweet.
Weaknesses:First off- the fork. If you are going aggro I suggest completely upgrading to something like a Super T or Dorado.
Similar Products Used:Kona Stinky, Kona Dawg, Norco Drop, Norco Fluid 1, Cannondale Gemini, Giant DH Comp.
Bike Setup:2004 Marzocchi 888R, Hope Big 'Un Disc hubs, Sun Singletrack, Easton monkey bars, Titec Ithys Amore seat, Shiman XTR derailleurs and crank.
Bottom Line:Looking for an entry level downhill or freeride rig? The Atomik is your best bet. Great value, and no compromise components, this bike lets you give'r over and over again. And yet again I will say that If you are going aggro, DEFININTELY upgrade the fork to those 888's, Super of Monster T's.

Strengths:Good beginners bike. Can be a good freeride bike if you know how to ride it. Good brakes.
Weaknesses:Running gear is a bit low for the bike. Should have at least LX on it.
Similar Products Used:Craftworks HRC6, Cannondale Gemini 1000, Kona Stinky Dee-Lux.
    Bike Setup:As from box.
Bottom Line:A good beginners bike for Mountain X and a bit of freeride. Needs a little to be done to the running gear, otherwise a fun bike to ride. Not a bike for people who want to race downhill to win.

Strengths:Way Lighter than i thought it would be, Its not like wow am i holding somthing but for the amout of material on it i was suprised. Dirt Jumper's 3's are good but i think they could have gone with JR T's. Stock Pedals are great with removable spikes. Hydralic brakes are very good. Unless u drop your bike off the roof of your house i doubt youl break or bend the handel bars or frame.
Weaknesses:Rear Shock (Vannila R) is good but not great.
DJ 3 good but not great
    Similar Products Used:Specialized Bighit 03'
Bottom Line:For people like me stepping up from a wolverine to an Atomik its great i can do things i never thought i could do. Its great for people with a year of experince or first timers whoose pockets are loaded. 5" Rear and 5" front=Great bike for the price. If your a real hardcore 10ft drop person I wouldnt sugest this or if your a cross country fan i would recomend A Kona CX Bike. PICK UP AN ATOMIK TODAY!

Strengths:Bomb-proof construction. I can't see myself breaking this one! Specialized "Horst Link" rear end is very plush indeed. 8 inch Hayes discs needed no bedding in period they just worked straight away. I can now ride into turns faster and brake much later. Super stable on the downs soaks up everything you hit. Marzocchi Dirt Jumper III forks are adeqate but a slightly plusher fork will compliment the rear end. Truvativ 22 32 Chainset works very well, I don't miss the big ring at all.
Weaknesses:The only problem I have with the bike is the 40 pounds it weighs. It's a long slow slog up the climbs, but DOES ride a lot lighter on the flat than you would expect. I will upgrade the fork soon as it doesent really compliment the super plush rear end.
    Similar Products Used:Specialized FSR
Bike Setup:24-7 Downhill Rims on Hope Hubs with IRC Kujo's (from my other bike) Also about to upgrade the fork to a Junior T 04.
Bottom Line:This bike has given me a 100% boost in confidence. I will now ride things that I would have hesitated at before. My downhill speed has improved a hell of a lot. The frame is exactly the same as the higher specced bikes in the range. Although front and rear mechs aren't the best in the world, they work and can be upgraded at a later date. Wheelset is excellent on a bike for this price and the brakes make the Hopes on my other bike seem Hope-less! As mentioned before the forks aren't the best.
Buy this bike if you want to improve your downhill and general riding skills. You'll be amazed in the confidence it inspires. But DON'T buy one if you're a cross country boy who weighs less than 140 pounds. You'll never lift it out of the van! I'm 40 and it makes me feel 20 years younger!!!

I mainly used it one a little trail me and some other kids built in a forest with drops as high as 10 feet, 6 feet flat and other punishing stuff. Some people say this bike is heavy but thats only if u use it for X-country which this bike was not desingned for. I am 13 and i don't wheigh much and I can can handle this bike easily.

Strengths:awesome bike really nice(especially army green)nice set up for the price, havent broken anything on it yet.frame is wicked now with the bar linkage under the frame(new this year, did not have it in 2002 except the norco team DH)makes the frame a lot stronger.I like pretty much everything on it.i like the vanilla R in the back.
Weaknesses:I personally dont hate the dirt jumper 3 but they should put something better on it.that is the only thing i dont like about it.

Strengths:The atomik has a strong frame, great suspension front & rear. The tires and rims are good. Shimano components always a good choice.
Weaknesses:The handle bars and grips are not the greatest and the bike is a little heavy. The brake hose line on the front comes out of the plastic clip attached to the fork.
Bottom Line:For the past 3-4 months I've punished this bike, downhill, urban, jumps, rocks, etc... I like this bike, for the price you can't go wrong. I haven't broken anything yet and I've been trying. My Giant hard tail wouldn't have lasted a day on the trails against this tank.

The atomik is a bit heavy but that's what leg muscles are for. For this year I'm not going to change anything on this bike. I might upgrade the tires and fork next year only if they start to fail. Also the handle bar & grips might go.

Strengths:*Excellent suspension action - Speshy licensed 4-bar, supple on the small stuff,

    handles the big hits.
    *Nice plush, strong, stiff forks.
*Fantastic brakes - 8" rotors F+R, Hayes hydraulics, soft compound tyres - it

doesn't get any better than this.
*Pedals well, little bob - rides lighter than it is.
*Looks (i have a green one, "military" sums it up)
Weaknesses:*Weight, it drags on long road/fireroad climbs.
*This really is a piece of off-road machinery. It will punish you for every

    tarmac mile.
*Forks not quite as supple over the small stuff as the rear, but that's to do

with how you set it up - i wouldn't change them.
*Pedals - cheap, not *too* nasty though. If you're spending this much money,

you'll have your own favourite pedals anyhow.
*Watch out for cable rub, especially on the front disc hose. I used spiralwrap

round the hoses to protect them.
Similar Products Used:Specalized Enduro, GT i-drive, marin something-or-other
    Bike Setup:As stock.
Bottom Line:I can't fault this bike, it does everything I was looking for in my new bike. I was after a "freeride" bike, which for me means I have to be able to keep up on long XC rides, but want to be able to ride anything, anywhere. Basically try
madder stuff :-) It's heavy, but I still make it up every climb i could before, maybe just slower. I also make it up stuff i couldn't clean before, thanks to the suspension. Looked at Enduros - but ppl I know have had issues, and not as good suspension/brakes/wheels for the money.
You might worry about the lack of a big ring, but honestly you'll only miss it on tarmac downhills - middle 9th is as big a gear as you'll ever need. And there are many advantages to a bashguard - you try more stuff - doesn't matter when it goes wrong, more clearance, and keeps the oil off your legs :-)

Strengths:Awesome sec(parts) for the price, very strong frame(same front end as the dh model). Awesome rear end, very strong, plush and sweet action, can't beat a 4 bar linkage with horst link. Beefed up this year with the support bar on the front monocoque part. Awesome value. buy it. Looks sweet.
Weaknesses:I can't think of much, this bike is very sweet. One problem iv had is that the forks hit on a cable route on the frame, when the forks are at 90 degrees, this has caused me too brake the valve on one of the legs, leaving me to wait alomst 3 months to get a replacement part which i'm still waiting for. My advice to anyone with this bike is to take off the dust caps on th fork leges and replace them with dustcaps from tubes so that they don't hit on the frame and brake ur valves, or cable route off. Any crash could cause this to happen if left like they r stock, plus u can't x-up. This is not so much a negative with the bike, just a slight inconviniance that can turn into a big problem.
Bike Setup:03 Norco Atomik, stock with rockdale chain guide(similar to an mrp)
Bottom Line:Best bike out there for the money in this catogry. Buy it, u won't be dissapointed. Perfect bike to start out freeriding/downhilling and upgrade parts later on.

The frame is EXTREMLY strong and i though it would be alot higher in price. this bike is very good for light freeriding. i would recomend that you dont do any drops over 15 foot because although the shocks are good they aint boxxers of shivers so u should take it abit easier.overall i thik this bike is very good and i would recomend on buying it if u can.
