Submitted by dan keogh-lim a Weekend Warrior from kanata, ottawa
    Date Reviewed: August 30, 2006
    Favorite Trail:kanata lakes GFR
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $700.00
    Purchased At:Kunstadt Sports
Strengths:fork is pretty good, nice tires, good weight
Weaknesses:wheels r weak and bend easily. Brakes suck after lots of riding. Pedals are small but cut up ur legs.
Similar Products Used:Specialized Hardrock, Norco Wolverine.
Bike Setup:i upgraded to axiom flat pedals, new derailleur
Bottom Line:bottom line...this bike is good for cross country and ok for street biking. But dont take it off huge jumps. I took it off a 18 foot gap jump and bent my wheel. Now im buying a norco sasquatch. The best part of the bike is the fork. The tires have lots of grip but fill with mud. If ur doing jumps and drops dont expect it to last a day. Its disappointing only riding a bike for 2 months and then buying a new one. cant wait for the sasquatch.Oh yeah and the price is 700$ canadian. Happy riding. It will get a rating of 3 gay little yellow chili peppers.

Submitted by Dave a Weekend Warrior from Edmonton, AB, Canada
    Date Reviewed: January 2, 2003
    Favorite Trail:Terwilliger in Edmonton
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $550.00
    Purchased At:Western Cycle, Edmonton
    Strengths:Great frame, Decent starting components
Weaknesses:Front Derailluer is quite weak, 24 spd, not that great of a fork
    Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:For my first "real" mountain bike, this was a great purchase. I've had a blast riding it , and except for the front derailluer (hard to shift even with tune-ups/maitenence), it's a great ride as it took anything I threw at it (lots of climbing, windy and rocky descents, small jumps of 2-3 feet). The fork (suntour) is weak, but ate up much of what was thrown at it. Never had a problem with it whatsoever, even after a few crashes.

I'd say its a great beginner bike, an excellent bike to start upgrading as you go, except for the cost to go up to 9 speed is a bit steep due to all the components that need replacing.

The bike has definitely given me the itch to upgrade it (LX/XT 9 spd and a Pyslo most likely), or pick up a Full-Susp in the summer.

Submitted by Robert a Cross Country Rider from Newfoundland
    Date Reviewed: June 21, 2002
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $400.00
Strengths:Fantastic frame to start with if you plan to upgrade components. I wanted a quality aluminum frame to start, and I now have upgraded to XT all around.
Weaknesses:Original componentry is a little weak, Alivio, etc.
    Similar Products Used:Specialized Rock Hopper
Bike Setup:Marzocchi Z2 x-fly, XT front and rear derl, XT front rear hub, XT Mega 9 shifters brakes, chain, cassette.
Bottom Line:This is an excellent place to start if you are going to upgrade anyway. This is a hardcore B.C. bike!
