Strengths:TOUGH! Excellent grip in loose, loamy conditions; good braking
Weaknesses:Heavy, side knobs squirm below 25-26 psi, pretty useless on hardpack
Bike Setup:Stiffee, Zoke Z1 FR, XT 4pot brakes, Race Face Turbine cranks
Bottom Line:Having used these tyres for over 2 years I decided it's time for a review. This was my first big fat chunky tyre and BIG is definately the right word - true to its size and very very heavy; but those sidewalls seem to be made of steel.
I have never pinch flatted with this tyre, the only time I had a puncture I pulled out the biggest thorn I've ever seen come out of a bicycle tyre (even my friends were wide mouthed!).
Basically this tyre is amazing in loose loamy and soft dirt conditions and fares excellently in loose rocky sections. Very good at high speed, stable straight line holding and predictable turn-in.
The problems are basically two: weight and the those huge side knobs - they really squirm and float around at low pressures when riding on hardpack giving the tyre a very insteady feel. Then again this is no hardpack tyre so it still gets 5 chillis!

Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $25.00

Strengths:Awesome cornering grip, good all around grip, reasonably hard wearing, good flat resistance.
Weaknesses:Fairly hefty, and the tread pattern is slower going on really hardpacked terrain than others, unsurprisingly.
Similar Products Used:Too many to name. Use High Rollers and these mainly.
Bike Setup:Specialized SX and a Kona Stinky right now.
Bottom Line:Great tyres, wicked for the UK where conditions rarely reach super dry and there's no slick rock.

Bear in mind that these will wear out quick if the going's dry, but in loose or loamy conditions the edges grip like they're on rails. A great 4x or aggressive XC tyre I'd say, but not for race whippets.

Strengths:Beefy Underdog Tire that comes out from behind and kicks the competitions a$$
Weaknesses:slippery on what roots, but what isn't?
Similar Products Used:Kenda Blue Groove, Specialized Comps, WTB Velaciraptors, Ritchy Z-Max, Maxxis Lopes Bling Bling Duals
Bike Setup:Intense 5.5, Manitou 4-way SPV, Manitou Sheramn SPV, Hadley Hubs, Thomoson everything, Hayes Hydro w/ 8 inch rotor/f 6 inch/r,
Bottom Line:If I could have your attention please. The bottom line is this. The only other tire I have ridden that beats the Nokian Gazza is the Kenda Navagel sticky compund tire. Others come close, but the others don;t measure up in quality and predictability.

Value rating is based on price i paid, not retail price.
