This light sucks! It shut off involuntarily at 3am in the 24hours of Adrenalin mid-way through my 10 mile lap. Yes, it was fully charged before I left. I shipped it back to Niterider for warranty work but still do not trust it!

Almost a year ago I purchased this light to replace my old dead digital premium that lasted about 5 years. There is only one improvement in the newer model and that is the more compact and lighter battery. Everything else is inferior ( I thought that product development meant improving over the years not going backwords). Here are my gripes (differant ones than those mentioned in other sour reviews). The new style cable connectors are the pits. They are so small and require lining up perfectly by sight to connect. If you have anything less than perfect 20/20 vision you had better make the connection with reading glasses and full room lighting before you start your night ride (do not attempt this at the trailhead). Likewise if you have less than 20/20 and these cables become disconnected during your night ride you will be s-o-l. The new style helmet mount bracket is also inferior to the previous style. Out of the box this light at 15w setting was no match for the old digital premium at same setting and was actually less bright than the 10w setting of my dual classic in side by side comparisons. As mentioned in a previous review emails to the tech support are a waste of your time as they go unanswered. You must call them on the phone. After I did this I purchased another bulb to hopefully correct the low lighting problem (warranty on the original bulb had allready expired after 30 days). I have not tryed it at night yet to see if the new bulb will correct the problem but I will know next week with the time change (California). Regardless as soon as one of my 3 Niterider light systems batteries go out I will be shopping for another brand.

Bulb burnt out after about 20 rides, but my brother's is fine. Sometimes the wire gets in the way, but no real problems. I'm happy with it but I am getting the Classic Plus to go with the Head Trip 3.0 because 10Watts isn't enough on its own in the dark. I do not have digital so it hasn't had any of the problems the other reviewers had. I read somewhere else that you can put a 15Watt bulb in, you'll get less run time but it would be an improvement.

Nice helmet light, and an excellent compliment to a handlebar light. But don't go out in the woods with only this light. For the price, it is worth it. This review is for the non-digital Head Trip 3.0 purchased in 2004 during the late summer.

The guy before me hit the nail on the head!!! This light's gauge does a crazy Kitt car impression after about two charges. You never know how long it is going to last. It's sort of like Russian Roulet on the trails with regards to have light or not having light. It really is more probelms than it's worth. Do not buy this light!!

This light sucks!! I hate when people don't say anything more than that . it just causes me great pain to think about the money wasted on a piece of sh%$ like this. If i could give it less than 1 flamming chilie I would.

Reliability Safety - having your fully charged light shut itself off for no reason at 30 mph on tight singletrack is downright dangerous. "Smart" battery is completely brain-dead. No response from tech support

I wish I had read the reviews for the nearly identical Digital Evolution before purchasing this light. This light has the exact same serious problems. After a couple months of use (maybe 10 rides) the fuel gauge stopped working, and instead of an indication of power left, I always have a LED that scans back and forth "Kinght Rider" style... if that is someone's idea of a joke I don't find it funny. Also, on occasion the light will refuse to turn on at all, or will shut itself off for no reason at all. I had to buy another light to mount on my handlebar as a backup for when the niterider cuts out. After a couple attempts to contact Niterider tech suppourt throught their email link on their website, I have received no reply. Needless to say I feel ripped off.
